After the introductory offer period, prices on future billing periods may be higher. Price good for a minimum of 26 weeks. Delivery will continue after the introductory period, and for all subsequent terms at our regular low rate unless the Chicago Tribune is otherwise notified. Not valid with any other discounts. For new subscribers only or those who have not received home delivery in the past 30 days. To discontinue delivery, you must notify Chicago Tribune in writing or by phone.

IS this offer still current?

I just got off the phone with the Trib and she said the offer code JCSO for just the Sunday paper wasn't 75 cents a week but actually $1.50 per week for 13 weeks = $19.50. I am currently at $1.10 per Sunday paper. She told me to stick with that since it was cheaper than the Jill Cataldo offer.

Can anyone confirm that the 75 cents a week is still valid? I just want to know if they didn't want to lower my rate. My payment is due 2/3 for the next 13 weeks. I want to hold paying incase I need to cancel in order to get a better rate.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I have it in writing that the offer is good for this entire year. I would call again. I will also let the Trib know - sometimes you get someone on the phone at the call center who isn't giving out the correct info. I'm guessing that's what happened...

Cpamira, please read

The Tribune is asking for your contact info. I'm sending you a message.

Looks like I ordered just in

Looks like I ordered just in time. Got the letter about the Trib price increases, and switched form the 4 day a week I had been getting to the JCWS deal just last week.

This is still a better deal then the rate they wanted me to pay for any one else still looking.

I am not a number, I am a free man‎!

I've never seen an 855 number before. I guess we've run out of 866 now.

At any rate I called, and couldn't get past the "press 1 for Jill" point. Is this a day-time only number? Can I switch from my current rate to one of these deals (JCWS)?

And I keep getting the following error every time I try to post:

You must be a human, not a spam bot, to submit forms on this website. If you insist that you are a human, please try again. If error persists, contact webmaster using contact link at the bottom of this page and give all the details of this error (your browser, version, OS).
Form is submitted too fast.
Please spend more time filling in the form.

To the best of my knowledge, the "Press 1 for Jill" offer is supposed to go 24 hours a day.

I believe you can add any number of papers (up to 5 with this offer) even if you are a current subscriber.

As far as the form error message, I've been playing with more spam controls for the blog. Speed of submission is one of the options to block suspected spam, as the spammers usually flood-post with quickly-filled-in forms. I'm disabling that option now as I don't want anyone blocked from posting...

spam (not from hormel)

Thanks for the Trib info. I'll try again later.

I know we've talked about SPAM control before. I always thought it made the most sense to moderate new members first posts. That's what I do on forums like yahoo groups that I moderate.

Someone that's made dozens or hundreds of on topic posts here is not likely to be spamming the group, unless their account somehow gets hacked. It seems most of the problems here are with the new accounts from the chinese hackers.

Not an option

The way this database is currently set up, there isn't an option to moderate based on length of time joined, though I agree that people who've been members for months to years are likely not spammers.

Any 7-Day Trib Deals in the Works for 2013?

I'm sure you know that the Tribune has now changed their online content access policy. The only way to obtain access all of the Tribune's online content now is by subscribing to the paper 7 days per week. There is also an option to buy the online content only, but it's too expensive. Both of my Trib subscriptions are from your website and you don't currently offer any 7-day delivery options. Can you tell us if this is something that will be added in 2013?

Let me see

I will ask and see if I can get a 7-day code for you guys. :)

Tribune Deal $13.00 for 26 weeks

I had the same experience of being told I had to pay a start up fee for the Jill Cataldo offer. After challenging them that they are not honoring the special and requesting to speak to a supervisor, they finally honored it. The supervisor claimed it was a misunderstanding they thought I wanted two copies not one which still would be incorrect. At that point it didn't matter since he agreed to the $13 for 26 weeks.

If you run into this problem keep challenging it and ask for a supervisor.

Thank you

I will let my contact at the Tribune know, but that should definitely NOT be the case. There is NO "start-up" fee..!

$13.00 Tribune deal is really $26.00?

I called for this deal this morning and was told that there was a $13.00 charge on top of the $13.00 charge for the paper so the deal would actually cost $26.00 for 26 weeks of the Sunday only paper. Is that correct?

Does anyone know if you call

Does anyone know if you call for multiple Sunday paper deliveries, do you need to give them both the code for the $0.50 for 1 issue AND the code for the Add 4 Sunday Editions for $3?

You need to do the base subscription first, then do the add-papers code.

Just subscribed to the Sunday

Just subscribed to the Sunday paper and an additional edition. Very easy transaction with "Brittany" from customer service. Can't wait to receive my papers on the 7th!

Tnx a lot for the post. I

Tnx a lot for the post. I have really just found the info I have been searching for. Hope to find some more helpful info in here.

Chicago Tribune service is

Chicago Tribune service is definitely a convenient one!
Thank you and keep up the great work.

good for existing or just new?

I already have a paper subscription for Wed-Sun. Can I use the code to add an extra Sunday paper for .50 or is this just for new subscriptions?

Can add

You can add multiple subscriptions even if you're already getting one - just use the code for Add 1 paper, etc.

Great Deal!

I am so happy - I just called & they promised they will deliver my papers as a bundle with my name on the outside. (I live in an apartment building, where papers tend to 'disappear'.)

The rep I talked with insisted that the limit per address is 4, so I took that.

Thanks for the codes!!

2 weeks into it and having

2 weeks into it and having issues already. No papers delivered, no one shows up to do re-delivery. Ended up getting credited for both Sunday's, but a pain. :(

No problem

That's great to know that they will bundle them! (I too would be afraid of that many papers "disappearing" from an apartment..!)

Hi Jill. I was wanting to try the paper deal again and I had reread the post and found that you had offered to help on 6/10, but I never received your email. I just wanted to say thanks. I used the email contact link you provided. I hope it hworks this time.

Thanks again!
Menards has some great back to school deals. Free 12 pack pens and 70 pg notebooks for .19 w rebates. There were other items too like back packs and folders but we didn't need any.

You posted some great deals this week too!

When does this offer expire?

Hi Jill, Is there a deadline for using these coupon codes? Also, I was wondering if they gave you coupon codes to post/offer for 4-day or 7-day deliveries. Thanks!

Through January

These codes are supposed to run until January 2013 :) I do not have codes for 4 or 7-day, unfortunately. Sometimes when you get a Tribune though, you will see the 7-day offer codes on a single-sheet card in with the inserts. I didn't get one this week, but sometimes they're in there...

new subscription

Tried to add extra Sundays several weeks ago, spent lots of time on hold & confused 2 people. They both thought it got handled. Never got charged, never delivered. Just finished old subscription this week, so called to try again. Suzanne had to add 2 new accounts to finally get it to go through, one for W/Sun, one for 2 additional Sun, but it worked just fine. We'll see if they come on Sun!

I wouldn't try it again.

I was very excited about this deal, but it fell through due to empty promises. I was already getting a free Tribune due to my wife having previously purchased a subscription to a local paper which included a free Sunday paper. So I called to do the Jill Cataldo deal right about Easter. They said it would take two weeks so I waited about two weeks before I called to verify my order went through because still no extra copies had come. I was told my entry had never been entered and that I wasn't even in the system to receive one copy, which, I was still getting. Anyway I signed up again for 4 copies and waited to more weeks and nothing changed. I called and said I was only getting one copy again. The guy told me they mistakenly entered me for 1 paper and advised I should only do 2 copies instead of 4 because it was cheaper per paper, so I agreed. Another 2 weeks went by and I still only received 1 so I called to cancel. I got a very eager saleslady who wanted to keep my business. She said she would have the delivery manager call me within 24 hours and guaranteed that I would receive my Sunday papers by 10am. It never came so I had to call back on Monday to cancel anyway. Guess what happened after that? My free paper that I had been getting for over a year stopped coming. They were responsive when it came time to cancel the delivery, but reluctant to deliver it in the first place. I still have not heard from that delivery manager to this day nor ever received those papers. I hope I get all my money back. What a waste of time and aggravation.

I am so sorry to hear this

I am sending your email on to Sunny at the Tribune, who is in charge of this offer -- this isn't acceptable. To resolve it, she will need your name and address though. If you want to contact her directly, she is at - or I would be happy to try to straighten this out on your behalf. You can email the info to me too at

Only my old Groupon subscription showed up today. Called to report missed delivery & confused "Daphne" to no end. She got an additional copy ordered for re-delivery... also never came. Guess I'll be talking to Sunny tomorrow. Dang - it's a P&G week.

all good

All 4 papers - 1 old groupon, 3 new - showed up on the driveway today! Yea! Everyone had their sports sections, funnies, and I got my coupons! Thank you, Jill, for the email address. It was handled promptly.

:( That stinks.

I'd go get whatever papers you need on the newsstand and see if they can credit your account for the missed papers. I wouldn't want to miss a P&G week either. :(

not working?

I just called, trying to suscribe for 2 Sunday papers. The lady was really confusing me and kept talking about a total of 64$ for 26 weeks. Something about a 25$ fee and a 39$ fee. Despite my several questions, I was never able to get a clear answer about that extra 25$ fee. If I understand correctly, they want to charge me full price for 1 copy (1$) plus the 0.50$ for the extra copy. I still don't understand the extra 25$ fee. Or why I can't use 2 codes and get 2 copies for 1$.

I hope this post is not as confusing as I am confused...

No, no

That doesn't sound right at all. I'm sorry that this has happened - could you email Sunny at She works for the Tribune and can help straighten this out for you.

Will do!

Thank you for your quick answer! I'm impressed!

I probably misunderstood something... I will keep you posted!

Thank you! Sunny got it sorted out. I have no idea why this first lady insisted it was $64. I did call the number that is included in the original post. Probably just a misunderstanding.

BTW, I thought your seminar at Indian Prairie Public Library was fantastic. You were interesting, thorough, and funny, the information was crystal clear, very well presented, and you captivated my full attention from beginning to end!

Signed: the pregnant lady waiting in line at the (stinky) Indian Prairie bathroom

You're welcome!

I'm glad it worked out. Thank you for the compliments on my workshop -- I always like hearing that everything I'm teaching is getting through and is well-understood.

(And yes, what was UP with that library bathroom? LOL.)

This is all nice and dandy. But I have been signed up for the Trib for almost a year now (50c/week, 5 papers), and for my 1 year anniversary they sent me a letter to "advise" me that the price is going up to 60c/issue. That's a 20% increase, and over the course of the year it equals to 26$ more per year. what is there to stop them from raising the price every year? I cannot re-subscribe, since I am not a new customer anymore.

Any ideas on how to prevent this? Any help would be apreciate it.

Obviously, .50/week is a very low rate with the cover price of the Trib being $1.99 on Sundays. If my subscriptions go up to .60, I don't think I'd complain. I like the Tribune as a newspaper - I really enjoy their expose and investigative-reporting pieces (the recent one on fire safety and flame-retardant fabrics) and know that prices do go up on things. As long as it isn't $1.99 for my Sunday paper, it's a deal to me :) We are a little spoiled too, you know -- when I teach in the far west suburbs (Belvidere, Rockford, and in between) the best rate they can get for the Tribune there IS $1.99. No .50 codes in that area. :(

You can always try asking for a better rate too as many readers have had luck with that as well.

they do not want to lose you

I have called every time my special is about to be up and have always got in on another special. I only receive 1 paper, now 7 days a week (for $1)though.

The Tribune actually just called me up and said they would up my 4 day a week dollar deal to all 7 for no extra. I agreed and just got my bill and it is still just $26 for 26 weeks. The Tribune sells advertising based on how many subscribers they have. They need to keep as many papers going out as possible.

Call them and ask for a might get an even better offer, you just have to ask!
