MorningStar Farms has new varieties of MorningStar Farms® Veggie Bowls available in stores now. These veggie bowls are complete meal solutions that are quick and simple to prepare, whether you’re looking for a healthier lunch on the go or an easy dinner for busy family nights.
Veggie Bowls can be found at Jewel-Osco in the freezer case, and they come in five new flavors:
- Chik’n Pot Pie
- Chik’n Tikka Masala
- Italian Sausage Bake
- Japanese Soba Noodles
- Moroccan Medley
MorningStar Farms invited me to try one and share my experiences. I headed over to Jewel-Osco to pick up a Veggie Bowl. I found them in the “Meal Solutions” frozen food aisle.
My local Jewel-Osco store carries both the Chik’N Pot Pie and Italian Sausage Bake varieties. I picked up a Chick’N Pot Pie (who doesn’t love pot pie with the weather turning cooler?)
These MorningStar Farms Veggie Bowls have both microwave and conventional oven directions. I decided to follow the microwave directions.
I opened the package to reveal a vegetable-filled Chick’N bowl with a biscuit topper.
The instructions stated to lift the film on the bowl and remove the biscuit. I microwaved the bowl for 3 minutes, 15 seconds.
Next, I removed the film from the bowl and stirred the contents. This Chik’N Pot Pie features vegetables in a wine and herb cream sauce, and the sauce smelled very good while I was stirring! I placed the biscuit on top and returned it to the microwave for one minute to complete the cooking process.
Here’s the finished product! The biscuit topper was cooked perfectly and flaky throughout without any hot spots or firm spots that can sometimes occur when microwaving breads. It was easy to break off flaky pieces and mix them with the Veggie Bowl ingredients. I especially liked the inclusion of chopped red onions in the mix, which really added flavor to this Veggie Bowl.
All MorningStar Farms meals are vegetarian, but they’re not just for vegetarians — they’re for anyone who wants a tasty, vegetable-rich meal or to fuel a healthier lifestyle. I’m a meat eater, but I’m impressed with how convincing the “meats” are in these dishes. My boys were fascinated at how “meat-like” the Chik’N in these bowls is!
Veggie Bowls are also made with MorningStar Farms’ Chik’n Strips, Steak Strips and Veggie Sausage Crumbles™. These are 100% vegan, are lightly seasoned, and contain 23 grams of protein. They’re an easy solution for anyone looking for a one-bowl meal that’s quick to prepare too.
MorningStar Farms says “Eating Green is Easy!” and invites you to visit their social hub online too.
