Menards 11% extended another week...

The Tribs went fast this week. Hanover Park & Carpentersville locations sold out very quickly Saturday & got more in on Sunday AM. $1.00 with 11% back on that. I'm guessing they will go just as fast on this Saturday 1/11/2014! In past visits I've seen people buy at least 10 papers at a shot...

Buy the gift cards now, get the rebate, then wait for the stuff you need to go on sale. Combine tomorrow's sale (and possible rebate) with today's 11%.

Buy Menards Gift Cards use them to pay. 11% off x2 x3 infinity?

Figure out how much you are planning to spend on your shopping trip to Menards, and buy at least that amount in gift cards, and then shop & pay for that trip with the gift cards you just. So you get 2x much in rebates. And I think you can use gift cards to buy gift cards, unlike at Jewel...etc... So if this is true... I think you can Buy a $100 gift card, get $11 back. Use that $100 gift card & buy another $100 & get another $11 back... So on your 10th cycle through it could become a rebate/store credit money maker... Anyone try this yet?

Non-consistant excuses.

I get different excuses from Menards employees when I have used discounts in combination with sales as well. When ever I Menards, Home Depot, or Lowes, I always have a a 10% off coupon for the new mover/welcome to the neighborhood, or project starter campaigns. I do know the registers there will not take the calendar discount with the 11% off everything or the anything you can fit into a paper bag sales. Most retailer employees will interpret their policies differently. Just matters who you deal with... and sometimes you get lucky & deal with people who will bend over backwards to get you all the discounts. Don't let a bad experience make you think that is how all locations are...

After couponing with Jill since 2008 ,I never take anyone person advise .You could have 100 cashiers from different stores and each would explain the rules differently !!So you search until you find the answer you are hoping for (O:

welcome to neighborhood coupons?

How do you end up with some of these every time there is a sale? Is there a special place you get them or do you just move around a lot? :)

Lowes - Post Office - New Movers Kits (+ other deals)

Next time you go to the post office, ask for the new movers package. You will get a Lowes code to enter online and you will get the 10% off coupon. They used to have the coupon in the kits. Now you have to register the unique code online. There are other discounts in the kit as well. The kits are updated at least every 90 days. The Home Depot and Menards accept the Lowes coupon.

The coupon is not valid on special order items.

At the bottom of the $5/$50

it says offer not valid on gift cards. So, I'm not sure it is a valid use of coupon.

light bulbs...

I got a couple 3-way light bulbs, even though they are not effected by the "ban" - so far. But these are not on sale right now and were a decent price.
I also picked up some value pack of 60 Watt bulbs and 6 pack of 100 Watt and got a gift card for the remainder amount to get to $50.
Used the $5 off, got 11% rebate and so it came to about 10 dollars net for all the light bulbs.

Menards tips

And a useful reminder: When using the Menards rebates, THERE IS NO SALES TAX! They are treated as store coupons, which are effectively markdowns, thus not taxable.

Thus I never use my rebates on stuff that is food tax, only the stuff that you have to pay the full sales tax on.

Also, unless you won't use them all up during the year, save those $5 off $50 coupons we just got for use when there is no 11% rebate. No sense losing 11% of your coupon value.

Sales Tax

Thats like another 9-10% savings ,so if you really make a plan you can really enjoy the extra savings all year .
By the way Menards has new vacuum bags called ZipVac 8/13.2 for $4 minus 11% rebate much cheaper then the original got a couple boxes to try ,anyone use them yet???

It's a kitchen renovation, so the cabinets alone will...

be a couple-thousand dollars. My husband is doing the work, etc. so he can choose where he wants to get the materials and it seems like the way-to-go, as that's his 'usual' stop for stuff anyway.

Kitchen cabinets

My husband sells custom cabinets. He can get you WAY better quality cabinetry for a similar price to what menards is selling and you can choose exactly what you want instead of choosing a, b,c.. It all comes on a pallet that your husband can assemble. Having him in the business for 7 years the box store stuff is seriously junk and way overpriced. I'd be happy to have him answer any questions if you were interested. Just send me a pm:)

"Custom" Cabinets shipped flat pack on pallet for DIY assembly..

I THINK NOT! Sorry to butt in here but that is just absurd. If she wants cheap cabinets cheaper then maybe hubby's stuff is a good alternative but, please, don't try to pass them off as "custom".
Maybe it's a "custom" arrangement of parts and pieces, but, there aren't any flatpack, DIY assembly cabinets in the market place that are of "custom" quality.
Sign me 25 year career kitchen designer that can't let something like that pass without correction. I designed for two Kitchen Crasher episodes, and while the designs/layouts for the rooms were "custom" designed by yours truly, there is no way I would ever try to pass off the standard cabinetry as "custom".
Cheers,
David

Yeah, I heard them advertise buying the g. cards and...

submitting for the 11% rebate. You don't often see such a thing on gift cards. My in-laws have a big project coming up and I may try to convince them to buy several-thousand dollars in gift cards for the project to take advantage of the rebate.

No Limit?

Is there no limit on the GC amount to purchase with the 11% back? We are about to purchase some new bathroom fixtures and thought we would do the same thing, get the gift cards first and then use to purchase, but I didn't know if the purchase price for the rebate would be after the gift card amount. Like the Target red card savings is after you use gift cards etc. Just want to save the hassle of buying the gift cards if it doesn't work that way. THANKS!

If you buy a gift card and

If you buy a gift card and then use that to buy your stuff, you'll get the rebate on both purchases.

We needed to buy a new door and had already decided before Christmas to get one at Menards, so we bought a $1000 GC and got a $110 rebate form, and then we bought the front and storm door and got another rebate form for $107 (because no rebate on the sales tax).

We did a similar purchase, $1000. gift card (our budget for the rest of the bathroom items we needed) and got the rebate for $110. and then purchased our sink, vanity and toilet that we needed and received the additional rebate. Thanks for the answered questions! :-)
