Deals of the Week for August 23, 2010

It's Deal Day, Super-Couponers... live from Atlanta! I'm on a media tour to promote Super-Couponing, and while you're out shopping the deals, I'll be talking couponing with over 30 morning news programs and networks around the country live via satellite! A big welcome to all the new blog readers introduced to Super-Couponing via these television segments too -- truly, no matter where you live, you can get incredible deals on everything from groceries to personal care products.

Each week, I blog the best deals of the week -- everything FREE or cheap with coupons -- for four major grocery chains, plus Target, Walgreens, and CVS Pharmacy. I'm based out of Chicago, so while my grocery deals focus on Chicagoland stores, if you shop at a SuperValu, Safeway, or Kroger-owned store elsewhere in the country, you may find similar sales to our Jewel, Dominick's, and Hilander deals. Welcome, and enjoy!

Deals of the Week for August 9, 2010

Hello, Super-Couponers! This week will mark the two-year anniversary of when I began teaching free Super-Couponing workshops in Chicagoland, and... wow, what a wonderful two years it's been! With the immediate success of those initial few workshops, my life quickly became consumed with writing, blogging, breathing, sleeping and dreaming coupons! (And I wouldn't have it any other way...)

Today also marks another anniversary... the 41st wedding anniversary of my parents! (Hey, had they not met and fallen in love over 40 years ago, I wouldn't be here writing this :) My beautiful mom was my original coupon mentor, and I have great memories of watching her clip coupons and save on our groceries as a kid in the 70s. Of course, the coupon game's changed a lot since then, and we've all taken saving and stockpiling to the next level now. My amazing Dad deserves a big thumbs-up too for understanding why Mom now needs to bring home so many boxes of cereal and bottles of juice, even though their kids are all grown. Mom & Dad, the happiest of anniversaries to you today!

This week's Sunday newspaper contained three inserts: SmartSource, RedPlum, and General Mills.

Deals of the Week for July 19, 2010

Hello, Super-Couponers! In my Super-Couponing workshops, I always mention what a great magazine All You is for coupon shoppers -- each issue costs under $2 and has between $50 and $100 worth of coupons inside. I do joke that I never read the thing though, as I'm just incredibly busy.

But this week, I flipped through it and saw a recipe for marinated mango/pineapple/shrimp kabobs, and I giggled when they estimated it would cost $3 per serving to make. I used my $2.99/lb. shrimp, a .99 pineapple and 2 free mangoes (thanks, Jewel $2 free produce coupon) and fed the entire family of FIVE for $3.98! :) Yum!

A big welcome to everyone from my Barrington and Moline classes this past week!

Hello, Super-Couponers! I hope everyone had a great Independence Day! Ours involved two slabs of ribs (from that last Target deal in which they were around $1.49/lb) slow-cooked all day to fall-off-the-bone perfection, slathered in bargain-priced barbecue sauce, then finished on the grill over some inexpensive Kingsford charcoal, along with chicken drumsticks from a past Jewel sale (bought with that great chicken coupon, of course,) ears of sweet corn, baked potatoes (wrapped in some free Reynolds Wrap and nestled in the coals) served on paper plates from another recent deal... and of course, everything was washed down with some fabulous, natural-sugar Cokes! Hope yours was great as well!
