Some friends of ours are spending their vacation in Australia. My friend Jen shared these photos today from a Queensland supermarket. She writes, “Some interesting differences in Australia!” Keep in mind that the current exchange rate is this: $1 Australian = .81 in US dollars.
WOW. I thought grocery sticker shock was bad when we went to Hawaii. Kind of makes this week’s $2.77 12-pack sale at Jewel-Osco look even better, doesn’t it? Special thanks to Jen T. for sharing these photos! View them larger below.

My hubby & I went to Fiji & Australia for our honeymoon back in March and Fiji was VERY reasonable. We then went to Cairns & Sydney and found Australia to be very expensive. We had dinner at the little cafe in our hotel the last night of our trip and we each had 1/4 chicken and rice and we had 2 glasses of wine (the wine was BOGO with a coupon from the hotel) and it was $70!!! For chicken and rice. My husband was talking to one of our tour guides and we found out that the average home price in Sydney is $700,000. It’s an extremely expensive place, but it’s beautiful and we would go back.

An excellent way to discourage buying junk food and putting people back onto the path of a healthy lifestyle. People nowadays say junk food is so much cheaper than healthy. Put a $32 price tag on a case of pop and I’d definitely be drinking a glass of water out of the tap (yes people used to do this and lived).
