Does your family love all things Disney Cars? Disney’s “Cars 3” hits theaters on June 16th, but as a prelude to the movie release, the Cars 3: Road to the Races tour is currently traveling around the United States. This is a free event celebrating the upcoming Cars 3 film, and participants can visit three Cars cars up close and in person, view a 15-minute preview of the new movie, and have some fun at the tour sponsors’ booths.
The Cars 3 tour is currently at the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois through 4/23/17 in the parking lot between Macy’s and JC Penney. We headed over this morning to check it out.
New racer Jackson Storm was the first car our boys spotted! He’s reportedly giving Lightning McQueen a run for his racing money in the new movie.
Of course Lightning McQueen was on display, as was his new racing friend Cruz Ramirez.
NASCAR’s Acceleration Nation was on hand with a booth too! We’ve visited Acceleration Nation before at NASCAR races, so our kids were happy to see them at this event too. At this booth, children could build their own car from the new movie, or take their car-building kits home to make later.
Our boys got kits for all three featured cars. They decided to build them at home so they could continue enjoying all that the Cars 3 tour had to offer.
Mattel had a booth featuring the new toy cars and playsets from Cars 3. Here, the boys had to choose which of the three cars would win a race down an inclined play table.
Coppertone’s booth gave aspiring pit crew members the chance to change tires on this mock racecar as quickly as possible.
Dole offered pineapple-banana smoothies so families to “fuel up” while visiting the event. They also handed out recipe cards featuring custom smoothie flavors inspired by the Cars cars.
Alamo invited kids to show off their street art skills on a giant-sized Cars 3-themed mural.
Our kids enjoyed visiting all of the booths at the event. They even won sheets of Cars 3-themed tattoos at this “Spin and Win” booth.
A big highlight of the event was this Cars 3 Sneak Peek preview theater. Attendees could watch a 15-minute preview of Cars 3, including exclusive content that hasn’t been released in trailers. I’ll just say it left us on the edge of our seats wanting to see more! If you’re a fan of this franchise, as we are, it will definitely whet your appetite for the movie’s release this summer.
We were not allowed to take photos or video once the preview began, but I was able to take a picture before the feature started. In typical Disney fashion, the moment you step inside this “theater,” you’ll feel the magic and forget that you’re sitting inside a tractor trailer!
Our boys loved this Cars 3 event! If you’re local, Cars 3: Road to the Races is open at Woodfield Mall until 4:00pm on 4/22 and from 11:00am – 4:00pm on 4/23/17.
I would recommend getting there early, as lines were very long today. We arrived a half-hour before the event opened and were able to get in by 10:15. They allow a certain number of people into the event zone at a time, and after that, people in line must wait for a certain number of people to exit the exhibits before more guests will be allowed in.
If you’re reading this from outside Chicagoland, the Cars 3 tour is hitting 27 different cities around the USA through June! Visit Cars3Tour.com for more details, locations, dates, and times.
