I need 7 day a week deal. Mom moved in with me and loves the daily paper. Ideas? They want $195 a year I think I can do better?
Leah says
Was told the codes are expired and they want 3.50 a week :(
Coupon Maven says
Leah, call them back — I have paperwork from the Tribune outlining this deal and the codes are valid through January 2019.
Amber g says
Is this deal still available? Are there new codes available or are they the same?
Coupon Maven says
Amber, it’s definitely still available — same codes. In fact, I renegotiated this week with the Tribune to extend these codes through 2019! :)
Trisha says
I have an existing subscription. Will this work if I order with just the plus two copies code?
Coupon Maven says
I’m not sure – I believe the main code is for new subscribers only.

I have an existing subscription and have been using your discount code for 3-1/2 years. Today they told me that that code now only applies to new subcriptions. One would have to cancel their subsciption and it woould have to be inactive for 30 days before calling to subscribe again with the discount code (which may only work for a 3 month subscription). Any thoughts or ideas on this? Thank you.

TRIBUNE $.75/week – NOT !
I really think the Tribune is guilty of false advertising. I have take advantage of the “DEAL” a couple of times.subscribed for 52 weeks but renewal came much sooner. I did not catch it twice, then went back and saw I was getting about 39 weeks or so from a “52” week subscription. I called and finally was told that they have several “special” editions – those with the extra magazine inserts that I do not want, but was told that I could not opt out! The fine print on the bill says they can reduce the number of weeks or charge you extra for these. I am so mad about this that I may call an attorney that might file a class action lawsuit – even though only the lawyer may get rich – I feel from a principle standpoint, the TRIBUNE needs to be put on notice.

@cs157bo
You can opt out of the special editions.
I hate their special editions because they drastically shorten the actual subscription period. They calculate the cost of each special edition based on their regular rate and not based on what your subscription’s rate is.
A few years back, when my rate was $1.10/wk (Sun only) and I paid for 2 years (24 months = 104 weeks), my subscription got shortened by 7 months because of “premium issues”. It was a long tedious process (involved the BBB) to challenge that (after I read how readers of other newspapers throughout the US did the same) but I was able to get my account “opted” out of premium issues.

Jill, my mom just tried to use the codes and was told she could only get one copy for the 75 cents a week price. But the codes look like she should be able to get two. Last time I subscribed, I was able to get 3 for that price. Any idea what is going on? Or are we doing this incorrectly? She gave them the both codes, the one for one copy and then the other one to add another copy.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Coupon Maven says
Brenda, according to the paperwork I have, all of the posted codes are still correct and active – last month I verified with them that they will all be good for another year. I would try to call and get someone else who may know how to put the codes together. You’re definitely doing everything right. Let me know what you can find out. :)

So I just called to renew my Sunday subscription and she tried to charge me $3.75 for Sunday only! Be careful when you call – the rep continually tried to twist my order around to get me to agree to a different payment amount!
mocars2 says
Since you had paperwork saying this deal was good thru Jan. 19 Do you have info that it is now exrended?
Coupon Maven says
Mocars2, yes, I do — it’s good through January 2020 now. :)
Vito says
Is there a special rate for 7 day delivery? What is the price and the code?
Thanks!
Coupon Maven says
Vito, no, I don’t have a 7-day discount code unfortunately.

Hi All
Any suggestions on getting a lower rate when you’ve been a customer for years and my rate increased? I have been getting 3 Sunday papers for years and received my most recent bill and it is being increased to 99 cents each. When I called they will not allow me to back down to 75 cents.
Anyone got any special secret to get the paper lower again ?
TIA

These codes are indeed advertised as being for new subscribers – it’s how they attract new readers. I don’t think a .24/week increase is too terrible, actually :) Look how much the cable company charges after you are off introductory rates..!

I just called and had no problems getting this deal. The recorded prompt asks if you’re calling about the jill cataldo deal and to press 1 if you are. This is a fantastic deal! Thanks Jill!
Coupon Maven says
You’re welcome – I think so too!
Dave says
Hurray! this code worked for me. Its a great deal! THANK YOU JILL!

I have a 99¢/issue (Sun issue only) that was going to expire this year. The renewal statement said my new rate is $2.50/issue. That’s a big leap so I was thinking that if I couldn’t get CTribune to retain my 99¢/issue rate, I’d just let my subscription expire, wait 30+ days then use the promo here to subscribe as a new customer.
When I called, the CS rep said she can’t give me the 99¢/issue rate because $2.50 is already a discounted price. So, I said, I’d like to cancel my subscription. She said, “Ok. Why do you want to cancel your subscription?” I couldn’t speak for a moment because I was dumbfounded by the question (isn’t it obvious). Then, I thought, Ah, she has to read the script. So, I just said “$2.50”.
CS rep said, “I can offer you $1.75/issue.” I said, “No, thank you. Please cancel.”
CS rep then said, “I can offer you your current rate of $0.99/issue.”
I said, “Really?” In my mind I was thinking “you’re going to offer it anyway, why did we have to go through this long back and forth”,
I accepted her offer instead of cancelling and using the $0.75/issue promo here because my account is already opted out of premium issue charges. I didn’t want to go through AGAIN the exasperating process of getting a new account opted out.
Coupon Maven says
That’s funny! As you ascertained though, I believe they have to read through the entire script to get you back to the rate where you wanted to be. At least it worked out for you :)

Watch your Tribune subscriptions!
I started a 1 year subscription last February, that was supposed to renew at the same discount rate.
Last month they sent me both an electronic and hardcopy bill for $7.92 a month (about $2 a week), and this month they sent me another.
It’s only been 9 months since I entered the one year subscription, so I should be good until February, not October. It’s also a significantly higher rate than I was supposed to get.
If they screwed up my account, they may have screwed up yours too. Watch for bills that aren’t right!
