I need 7 day a week deal. Mom moved in with me and loves the daily paper. Ideas? They want $195 a year I think I can do better?
Leah says
Was told the codes are expired and they want 3.50 a week :(
Coupon Maven says
Leah, call them back — I have paperwork from the Tribune outlining this deal and the codes are valid through January 2019.
Amber g says
Is this deal still available? Are there new codes available or are they the same?
Coupon Maven says
Amber, it’s definitely still available — same codes. In fact, I renegotiated this week with the Tribune to extend these codes through 2019! :)
Trisha says
I have an existing subscription. Will this work if I order with just the plus two copies code?
Coupon Maven says
I’m not sure – I believe the main code is for new subscribers only.
phil says
just got 1.49 week for one year… wed, thurs, fri, and sun delivery
had to ask since auto renewal was $2.82
pretty easy with simple request
LINDA TETZLAFF says
I have an existing subscription and have been using your discount code for 3-1/2 years. Today they told me that that code now only applies to new subcriptions. One would have to cancel their subsciption and it woould have to be inactive for 30 days before calling to subscribe again with the discount code (which may only work for a 3 month subscription). Any thoughts or ideas on this? Thank you.

TRIBUNE $.75/week – NOT !
I really think the Tribune is guilty of false advertising. I have take advantage of the “DEAL” a couple of times.subscribed for 52 weeks but renewal came much sooner. I did not catch it twice, then went back and saw I was getting about 39 weeks or so from a “52” week subscription. I called and finally was told that they have several “special” editions – those with the extra magazine inserts that I do not want, but was told that I could not opt out! The fine print on the bill says they can reduce the number of weeks or charge you extra for these. I am so mad about this that I may call an attorney that might file a class action lawsuit – even though only the lawyer may get rich – I feel from a principle standpoint, the TRIBUNE needs to be put on notice.
Bess says
@cs157bo
You can opt out of the special editions.
I hate their special editions because they drastically shorten the actual subscription period. They calculate the cost of each special edition based on their regular rate and not based on what your subscription’s rate is.
A few years back, when my rate was $1.10/wk (Sun only) and I paid for 2 years (24 months = 104 weeks), my subscription got shortened by 7 months because of “premium issues”. It was a long tedious process (involved the BBB) to challenge that (after I read how readers of other newspapers throughout the US did the same) but I was able to get my account “opted” out of premium issues.
brendas says
Jill, my mom just tried to use the codes and was told she could only get one copy for the 75 cents a week price. But the codes look like she should be able to get two. Last time I subscribed, I was able to get 3 for that price. Any idea what is going on? Or are we doing this incorrectly? She gave them the both codes, the one for one copy and then the other one to add another copy.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Coupon Maven says
Brenda, according to the paperwork I have, all of the posted codes are still correct and active – last month I verified with them that they will all be good for another year. I would try to call and get someone else who may know how to put the codes together. You’re definitely doing everything right. Let me know what you can find out. :)
Coreena Kauffman says
So I just called to renew my Sunday subscription and she tried to charge me $3.75 for Sunday only! Be careful when you call – the rep continually tried to twist my order around to get me to agree to a different payment amount!
mocars2 says
Since you had paperwork saying this deal was good thru Jan. 19 Do you have info that it is now exrended?
Coupon Maven says
Mocars2, yes, I do — it’s good through January 2020 now. :)
Vito says
Is there a special rate for 7 day delivery? What is the price and the code?
Thanks!
Coupon Maven says
Vito, no, I don’t have a 7-day discount code unfortunately.
Diana E Horn says
Hi All
Any suggestions on getting a lower rate when you’ve been a customer for years and my rate increased? I have been getting 3 Sunday papers for years and received my most recent bill and it is being increased to 99 cents each. When I called they will not allow me to back down to 75 cents.
Anyone got any special secret to get the paper lower again ?
TIA
Coupon Maven says
These codes are indeed advertised as being for new subscribers – it’s how they attract new readers. I don’t think a .24/week increase is too terrible, actually :) Look how much the cable company charges after you are off introductory rates..!
Angela says
I just called and had no problems getting this deal. The recorded prompt asks if you’re calling about the jill cataldo deal and to press 1 if you are. This is a fantastic deal! Thanks Jill!
Coupon Maven says
You’re welcome – I think so too!
Dave says
Hurray! this code worked for me. Its a great deal! THANK YOU JILL!

I have a 99¢/issue (Sun issue only) that was going to expire this year. The renewal statement said my new rate is $2.50/issue. That’s a big leap so I was thinking that if I couldn’t get CTribune to retain my 99¢/issue rate, I’d just let my subscription expire, wait 30+ days then use the promo here to subscribe as a new customer.
When I called, the CS rep said she can’t give me the 99¢/issue rate because $2.50 is already a discounted price. So, I said, I’d like to cancel my subscription. She said, “Ok. Why do you want to cancel your subscription?” I couldn’t speak for a moment because I was dumbfounded by the question (isn’t it obvious). Then, I thought, Ah, she has to read the script. So, I just said “$2.50”.
CS rep said, “I can offer you $1.75/issue.” I said, “No, thank you. Please cancel.”
CS rep then said, “I can offer you your current rate of $0.99/issue.”
I said, “Really?” In my mind I was thinking “you’re going to offer it anyway, why did we have to go through this long back and forth”,
I accepted her offer instead of cancelling and using the $0.75/issue promo here because my account is already opted out of premium issue charges. I didn’t want to go through AGAIN the exasperating process of getting a new account opted out.
Coupon Maven says
That’s funny! As you ascertained though, I believe they have to read through the entire script to get you back to the rate where you wanted to be. At least it worked out for you :)

Watch your Tribune subscriptions!
I started a 1 year subscription last February, that was supposed to renew at the same discount rate.
Last month they sent me both an electronic and hardcopy bill for $7.92 a month (about $2 a week), and this month they sent me another.
It’s only been 9 months since I entered the one year subscription, so I should be good until February, not October. It’s also a significantly higher rate than I was supposed to get.
If they screwed up my account, they may have screwed up yours too. Watch for bills that aren’t right!
Calibabydolly says
Jill- Is this deal still good thru the end of January 2020? Reason I am asking is I went to Menards today for my Sunday Tribune and it has been raised from $1.50 to $2.15 now! We used to get it delivered all week but got frustrated with the special issues reducing the length of your subscription and the service was getting bad as well. Then they raised my price, so we decided to buy it weekly at the store.
I called today and did get the recorded message to press 1 for the Jill Cataldo special, but then office is closed until tomorrow 7 AM. (duh me) I will call first thing but wondered if this is a credit card offer only or will they send me a bill so I can pay by check? I hate when they auto bill you but may have to watch it carefully as to actually get the special price advertised. (Special sections were $4.49- 2 years ago and only 1 would reduce your weeks by 6!) Thanks if you have any updated info I need.
Coupon Maven says
Yes, it is good through the end of the month, and I will reach out to them soon to see if they want to extend it. I believe you can get a traditional bill with it. (I am not able to subscribe with my own offer under the terms of this discount code, so I have a different price – LOL! :) I’d give it a try again tomorrow.
Calibabydolly says
Got my paper starting this Sunday, Thanks! Opted out of special editions and paid with cc. Very nice deal if it all works out as well as it sounds on paper lol
Jo says
I followed the prompts to the Jill Cataldo special. The customer service rep said that I should read their offers more closely because the lowest offer is 99 cents per paper. I didn’t get a subscription.
Coupon Maven says
Jo, I am checking on this right now – according to the materials I have, the price should be .75 through the end of this month.
Coupon Maven says
Jo, I have received confirmation from the Chicago Tribune that this offer is still current: .75 for one copy, .99 each for two ($1.98) per week. They said they have new reps working the phones, and they will clarify this with them on their end, so please try to call back at some point. They also said to make sure you use the alphanumeric discount codes from the table shown on this screen – asking for the .75 price alone is not enough to get the discount applied, apparently.
Kay Wilson says
Hi! My groupon for one year of Tribune has expired. Is your deal still valid March of 2020?
Coupon Maven says
Kay, yes it is – it is valid through February 2021 actually as the Tribune just renewed it for my readers (thank you, Tribune! :)
Cheryl R. says
Help please!!! It’s April and I need the paper? Is this code good? If not do you have a new code?
Coupon Maven says
Cheryl, yes, these codes are valid until February 2021! :) They are good to go!
Frank says
Do you also get digital access with this or any other deals? Thanks!
Coupon Maven says
Yes, you do get digital – I am not sure if it’s for all the days or just Sunday, but you can call and ask.
Frank says
I ordered today, I will say the rep was pretty clueless about the deal and said the only promo she could find was the Sunday deal but for 77 cents/week. She did confirm that the digital subscription is not limited to Sunday only. Thank you, it’s a great deal!
Coupon Maven says
Frank, did you give them the letter codes from the page? I’m really sorry to hear that they were “clueless” – I’ve heard similar things before, but the Trib has assured me that the agents have the offers in front of them if these codes are given on the phone. I’m glad you got it sorted out!
Margaret says
This is a question not a reply. I’m confused to the pricing. Am looking at the Wed & Sun home delivery for $1.49/ week. Is that price for one paper delivered every Wed & Sun every week? How many weeks do they bill you for at a time? How long is introductory period. Says price good for 26 weeks. And I can ask to opt out of premium issues?
Coupon Maven says
Yes, the Wednesday and Sunday subscription is two papers each week – one on Wednesday and one on Sunday.
The intro bill, if I remember correctly, comes as a 1-3-6 month bill, and you can choose which tier to pay.
The price is good for 26 weeks – that’s the intro period. After that, they can raise the price if they want to.
You can ask to opt out of premium issues – you have to do that on the phone though or suspend delivery those weeks in your online account.
Yejoria says
It worked! This is great! No more running around looking for papers! Yes! Thank you so much
craig ehrlich says
I was just able to secure this subscription for $0.75 per week for 6 months. I was told it also includes the digital subscription for every day of the week. I have not been a Chicago Tribune customer for many years, so this was considered a new subscription. I guess we will see what happens at the end of the 6-month period.
Lynn says
I attempted to call the toll free number, 1-855-438-8742, and the recording said it is no longer In service. Is there another phone number or a current discount offered?
Lynn says
I called the number listed above, 1-855-438-8742, and the number is no longer in service. Is there another number or current discount offer?
Coupon Maven says
Lynn, thank you for bringing this to my attention — I just called it too. I have reached out to the Tribune to see what’s going on.
Coupon Maven says
Lynn, my subscription manager at the Tribune sent over an alternate number – they are investigating why the original number is currently out of service. Please use 312-766-8172 in the meantime. :)
Lynn says
Thanks for your reply. I just spoke with a representative at 312-766-8172, he quoted .99/ week for 10 weeks. This includes Sunday delivery and digital access. After 10 weeks the subscription price will be 1.99.
Coupon Maven says
Lynn, that’s not correct at all — I have a written contract with the Tribune to offer these codes through February 2020. I am getting the impression that there is a lot of confusion on their end with the special phone number set up for this offer currently out of service. I am trying to find out all I can.
MATT says
Hi, I called 312-766-8172 and when I gave the discount code JCSO, the representative said they need a numerical discount code.
Coupon Maven says
Matt, thank you – it sounds like there is a lot of disorganization going on right now. I will share this with my rep.
HH says
FYI, I called and at first was asked for a numerical code as well, but later…although the rep couldn’t find the promotion, she offered me the deal except that there were some taxes and setup fees, which brought the total to about 99 cents per issue…I assume if it renews, it would exclude the setup fees. I was ok with this and accepted it. Thanks for your work on this offer.
