My favorite after-Christmas clearance items

I’ve picked up gift wrap, holiday decorations, and Christmas cards over the past few weeks, but I found some really funny items at Meijer that I just love.

These are prank gift card holders to faux store locations — you slip a real gift card (presumably to a better store) inside. They’re kind of along the lines of those prank gift boxes you can wrap gifts in. (As an aside, I love those too — I think the idea of Sizzl Bacon Scented Dryer Sheets or Extreme Chores for the Wii are hilarious..!)

Anyway, just wait until one of my loved ones receives a gift card for “Just Whisks” or “Yestertech, the Refurbished Tech Superstore!”

Take a closer look:

“Just Whisks” made me think of Weird Al’s hilarious Spatula City commercial.

However, the “Yestertech” tech superstore card holder made me laugh out loud. With faux quotes like “I missed having a phone I couldn’t lose,” and dubious award distinctions like “2013 Best Retail: Hipster Weekly?” Golden.

I can’t wait to give this to someone who I feel really needs a new/old reel-to-reel tape player…
