Jewel-Osco launches new Gas Rewards program

Jewel-Osco has launched a new Gas Rewards program. When you sign up at Jewel-Osco’s website or via their app, it will link your phone number (MyMixx account), and you’ll earn points on almost every dollar you spend in the store. Here’s the email Jewel sent out today regarding the new program:

* MAXIMUM GAS REWARD REDEEMABLE AT PARTICIPATING SHELL STATIONS IS 20Â¢ PER GALLON OF SHELL BRANDED FUEL. Points are earned based on whole dollars spent in eligible purchase transactions; cents are not counted (for example, if you spend $5.75 in a single transaction, you will earn 5 points; 75Â¢ not counted). For each 100 points earned within one calendar month, you will receive a Gas Reward equal to 10Â¢ per gallon: 100 points = 10Â¢ per gallon Gas Reward, 200 points = 20Â¢ per gallon Gas Reward, etc. No Gas Rewards will accrue to points that do not reach the next $100 dollar threshold, and such points expire at the end of the calendar month in which they are earned. Gas Rewards earned during each month may be used only through the end of the following calendar month (for example, Gas Rewards earned in January expire at the end of February). Gas Rewards savings are limited to 20 gallons of fuel per purchase, per vehicle, or fraud limits placed by Shell and/or limits placed on your payment card by your financial institution, each of which may be lower. Dispenser may require a price of up to 10.9 cents per gallon. For purchases of $75 or more, please go inside to pay. Unbranded diesel and alternative fuels may not be eligible. It may not be possible to combine multiple discounts and/or rewards in a single transaction. No Gas Rewards will be applied unless eligibility is established before pumping fuel. Gas Rewards will be available for use at participating stations approximately 4 hours after earning them. Gas Rewards may be redeemed only at participating Shell stations. Purchases of the following items will not be eligible for points or Gas Rewards: (1) beer, wine and tobacco (and spirits in certain states); (2) fuel and automotive services; (3) bus passes, commuter passes, fishing or hunting licenses, ski passes, postage stamps, lottery tickets, amusement park passes, and event tickets; (4) any financial instrument that can be redeemed for goods or services at participating Albertsons Companies Banner stores – including (but not limited to) gift certificates, money orders, and gift or debit cards issued by American ExpressÂ®, MasterCardÂ®, VisaÂ®, NetSpendÂ®, PayPower™, Green DotÂ®, Univision MastercardÂ®, or any Albertsons Companies Banner store; (5) mobile phone cards; (6) Shell Gift Cards. Sales tax payments and redemption value deposits are not purchases and are not eligible to earn points. Only out-of-pocket pharmacy costs (for example, prescription co-pays) are eligible to earn points. Fast Forward and SmartCheck are not accepted as forms of payment at Shell stations. This reminds me of the same program Dominicks use to have which I took full advantage of. However, I note that Shell gas prices in McHenry County tend to be 15-20 cents more than Woodman’s or Sam’s Club. So it will be interesting since gas prices fluctuate so much even during one day to try to get that $.05 discount.

So this is separate from Fuel Rewards that Jewel/Osco had an affiliation with at one time, right? I still use my Fuel Rewards card when I do online purchases. It will be nice to have two ways to do this now.

  Yes. The Fuel Rewards is run by Shell directly and is still going — this is a new program for Jewel.

How to get your rewards when gas station attendant doesn’t know how to do it and Jewel tells u it’s up to SHELL to give u your reward and discounts on the gas u purchase…this is sad…I spent all this money 4 groceries at JEWEL then all this money at SHELL 4 gas…no rewards, no discounts…NOT RIGHT!!!
