My syndicated Super-Couponing Tips column for the week is entitled “It’s becoming a smartphone world, but what if you don’t have one?”
Here’s an excerpt:
“When I questioned the cashier, she said that the sale price was only effective if I used my cell phone to scan the item. I explained to her that I did not have a cell phone. She looked at me as if she had encountered someone from the Stone Age!”

I too do not have a smart phone, I have a 3G phone which allows me to text and take photos but I do not want to pay for a data plan. The solution to the problem for those of us who are frugal, is not shop there. When disappointed in the service received is to write their management and let them know that they are missing out on a portion of the population that has a disposable income ready to shop but would also like the benefits of a sale without using their phone. I would share my bad experience on social media for all to know how they treat their customers, too. For most stores, I just look up a coupon on-line and print from home before I go so I am able to use a paper coupon at least.
