My syndicated Super-Couponing Tips column for the week is entitled “Outdated phone can’t take advantage of apps.”
Here’s an excerpt:
“I have had a smartphone for four years. I really like my phone and do not want to upgrade it. Anyway, apparently four years old is ancient in smartphone terms, because I use an app for couponing at a large chain drugstore. Recently the app said it needed an update, so I updated it, and guess what? Now that app won’t work on my phone anymore because my old phone is no longer supported.”

It could also mean that you just need to update the OS on your phone. Try loading the latest version of Android or IOS.
Over the holidays my we picked up the latest B&N Nook (Samsung 7″ tablet) for $50. That might be a good cheap alternative to a new phone.

Not necessary. I used to have an old iphone and the newest version of the iOS program could not be put on that phone so I could not update coupon apps. I got rid of that phone soon afterwards. More and more apps were unable to be updated or wouldn’t work because of this.
