I went to Target (Algonquin, IL) and saw that all of their summer gear is on clearance at 50% off — including these large utility totes! These totes, originally $14.99, are on sale for $9.99. And look…
At 50% off, these $9.99 totes are now just $5.00! That’s a great price for a bag this size. I’ve written about my love for this style of tote before. Thirty-One Gifts popularized them, but theirs are priced around $35 each. I picked up a utility tote at Meijer two years ago for $11.24 and still use it all the time as our pool and beach bag.
UPDATE: Several readers have written to say their stores’ clearances are now at 70% off, and these totes are just $3!
I’ve never seen utility totes priced so low! The quality of Target’s version does not seem to be as good as the Thirty-One and Meijer versions (the fabric is stiffer and the straps are lacking the grommets that other versions of this bag have) but hey — it’s five bucks! You could buy seven of these babies for what you’d spend on one name-brand bag. It does have the wire frame that keeps the bag in its always-open state.
These Target utility totes also have a zipper pocket built into the inside to hold your keys, wallet or other items — a feature I really like on my Meijer version of this bag.
Other summer lawn & garden items are 50% off at Target too.

Reader Sherry wrote tonight to say these bags are $3 at her store (St. John, IN), which is now 70% off on summer clearance items!

I’m keeping my eyes open & will report back. I have seen these totes at Meijer again this year, but the last time I checked, they were still full price. As summer winds down though, hopefully we’ll see some good sales…

I bought these in 2016 at Algonquin Target as well. Was just doing an image search for them and this came up. Small World! I’ve been looking this year and haven’t seen any, but I’m in the Lake Zurich area now and our Target is an antique.

I have seen them at Meijer (Algonquin) last week for $14.99. It’s no $3 clearance, but the regular price was $20-something.
