If you’re in need of storage or freezer bags, this is a SUPER deal on them…
I stopped at the Rolling Meadows Meijer today to scope out toy clearances and accidentally stumbled across a deal on these bags! While I have a healthy stockpile of gallon freezer bags at home, I ran out of quart size, so I figured I’d just buy the cheapest store-brand bags I could find.
Meijer Basics 25ct. Quart Freezer/Storage Bags were $1. I bought four, and I was surprised to receive a $3 Catalina at checkout!
I only bought some clearance toys and clothing, so I figured the bags had to have generated this. The Catalina is good for $3 off a “Consumables Purchase,” noting that food storage items, napkins, paper plates, cups and the like counted as consumables.
So, I headed back to the aisle, figuring I’d just grab three more boxes of bags and enjoy seven boxes for $4. And then I spotted this sign…
Meijer consumables are part of a new Catalina: Buy 3 Meijer brand, get $2, Buy 4 Meijer brand, get $3, or buy 5 Meijer brand, get $5. This tag notes that the paper and cleaning items must be priced at $2 or more, but it appears that storage bags don’t have a minimum price..! The sale runs through 1/23, and it IS possible that at some point, they may add a price threshold for the bags too, so keep that in mind & do at your own risk. But in the meantime, your best deal is this:
Buy 5 Meijer Basics food storage bags for $5. Get a $5 Catalina. Buy 5 more food storage bags (the Catalina will NOT roll) and you’ll have paid $5 for 10 boxes, or .50 each!
Other notes:
I’m not sure if all Meijers carry the $1 size of bags. I was at Algonquin last night looking for clearance toys (not many) and some cheap quart bags, and the cheapest I saw were a larger, 40ct. Meijer brand for $2.99. I passed. If they’d had $1 bags there, I would have bought them..!
The Rolling Meadows Meijer has three shelves of clearance toys in the middle of one of the large aisles at the back of the store. There are more girl toys than boy, but I picked up some Bonkazonks sets for $3.75 each for my boys, and a Nerf dart gun for $5. Most toys are 50% off, and some are 75% off.
Both Meijers have a lot of bed sheets on clearance too. Algonquin has better prices, which I’ll summarize in another post…
