My mom stopped into the Hallmark store in Huntley yesterday and was surprised to learn that it’s not going to be a Hallmark store any more! It will continue to be a local card and gift shop, but it will no longer be affiliated with Hallmark.
What happens when a Hallmark store isn’t going to be a Hallmark store for much longer? Everything in the store with a Hallmark brand on it drops to 75% off!
Of course, I headed to the store today, mentally thinking about who I needed cards for in the near future, and also giving thought to stocking up on general birthday, thank-you, and anniversary cards.
It did not take long for me to amass quite a collection of cards! Those wonderfully fun cards that play music, light up, or include prizes suddenly drop from $7.99 to $2.00!
$1.99 Shoebox cards drop to .50!
The already-a-bargain .99 cards? They’re a quarter.
Here are some of the cards I picked up — many play music, a bunch of them light up, and others come with lip glosses, carabiner clips, bracelets, or other kid-friendly goodies. Check them out in the video below:
Every one of these prices dropped into the crazy-reasonable range: $7.99 to $2.00. $6.99 to $1.75. $5.59 to $1.40.
$3.99 cards dropped to $1.00. $2.99 cards dropped to .75. $1.99 cards dropped to .50! And, of course, .99 cards were just .25.
Once I’d covered all of the kids’ birthdays in the family, as well as upcoming weddings, anniversaries, and graduations, I shopped for cards celebrating some of the other occasions Hallmark has unique cards for, such as going to summer camp!
As of today, there were still four full aisles of cards at this store location — well worth a look if you’re up in my neck of the northwest suburban woods. The cashier told me that the cards have actually been 50% off for a few weeks, but the 75% off drop has really been drawing shoppers in!
If you’re local to my area, the Huntley, Illinois soon-to-no-longer-be-a-Hallmark Store is located at 13304 Village Green Drive next to the Jewel-Osco on Route 47.
UPDATE: Reader Molly reports that the Hoffman Estates Hallmark store located at 1481 Palatine Road in Rose Plaza, Hoffman Estates, Illinois is owned by the same company (Lorenn’s) and is also 75% off all Hallmark items!

Is just this hallmark store or all of them?

Just this particular location. The owner is keeping the store open as a card and gift shop — it just won’t be affiliated with Hallmark any longer.

Hoffman too! I called your Lorenns Hallmark store and found out this morning that the Hoffman Estates Lorenns Hallmark is also 75% off and changing to a gift shop called A New Dawn. Heading there now to stock up on cards! Thanks Jill! =)

Thank you! I just updated above — I didn’t realize the owner of our store had another location locally. That’s great!
