I finally got around to shopping the Jewel deals last night, and I spotted an unadvertised deal on Milk-Bone dog treats. It looked pretty good to me, but I wanted to go home and look for coupons too before I went back to do the deal — especially as it’s been a while since we’ve seen a good stock-up price on these. I like to pay about $1 per box or bag of treats for our dog, and this deal’s good!
Milk Bone Dog Biscuits (26oz.) are on sale for $3. Many varieties are also tagged as part of a Catalina offer — buy two and get a $1 Catalina! Look for coupons on a tearpad near the product for $2 off 2 Milk Bone treats – these were blue with black text at my store. With coupon, pay $4 for two and get $1 back. That’s $3 for two, or $1.50 each.
But… it gets better! The 1/22 RP has a coupon for “Buy 2 Milk Bone treats, get Milk Bone Soft & Chewy or Healthy Favorites treats FREE.” Add a package of those, and you’re still paying $3, but now you’re getting THREE packages of treats, or $1 each!
WARNING: Even though these are tagged on the shelf with a “Buy 2 and receive a $1 coupon for your next shopping trip,” it is NOT generating multiple Catalinas if you buy in greater multiples of two. (Trust me, I tried tonight!) Split your orders up into three treats each, one treat being the Soft & Chewy or the Healthy Favorites, and two other $3 treats of your choosing that are also tagged as part of the Catalina deal. As the Soft & Chewy treats are -also- tagged as included, I tried to do one large deal with 8 boxes of Milk Bones and four bags of Soft & Chewy. In theory, that should have generated six $1 Catalinas back and made the deal even better. But no matter how many more than two I bought, the machine was only generating one $1 coupon. My store’s staff was great and offered to break the order up and re-ring it, but unless this gets fixed, approach it expecting one Catalina per transaction. It’s still a very good deal, and my dog is happy!
UPDATE: The 2/19 RP has a $1.50-off-2 coupon for Milk Bones! If your store doesn’t have the tearpads, use these and pay just .50 more for the whole deal, or about $1.17 per package.

I love pet deals!! I got 6 bags of cat treats for $.50 per bag a while ago at Pet Smart and my cat is almost spoiled now with all the cheap treats she’s been getting. :)

Even if you don’t have a dog, this price is reasonable enough to pick some up and drop them off at the Humane Society. I’ve even heard of food pantries in need of pet supplies during these hard times. People are struggling to feed their pets too.
Thanks Jill for the great coupon match ups on this one!

It WOULD have been perfect timing cuz we are running low, BUT McHenry Jewel was not offering the coupons on the shelves like Jill showed-I’m bummed! :(
