My regular readers know I’m a skincare junkie – I’ve had a twice-daily regimen in place for my face since I turned 29, and I believe it’s really served me well. My skin is healthy and moisturized without a wrinkle in sight. However, what about the rest of my skin? We pay a lot of attention to our faces, but we don’t always give as much thought to the rest of our bodies. As we get older, the skin on our hands, arms and legs also needs moisturizing and regular care.
After age 40, it becomes even more difficult to keep our skin moisturized. A 2015 national survey noted that women feel an average of six years older when their skin is dry and dull! As we get older, our skin’s natural renewal cycle slows down, which can cause dead skin cells to build up on the surface. Our skin’s own oil glands also slow down, and these things can lead to skin that appears dull and feels rough.
AmLactin Skin Care products are the #1 brand recommended by dermatologists for rough, dry skin, and skin care professionals have been recommending AmLactin for more than 20 years! AmLactin products are formulated for changing skin, and they’re designed to combat dry skin associated with aging from the neck down. They contain a unique combination of exfoliating alpha-hydroxy acids and hydrating humectants that are formulated to reveal smooth, healthy-looking skin.
AmLactin sent over some products for me to try, then post my thoughts about them. (I’ve got $100 worth of AmLactin products to share with a lucky reader too – more on that in a bit!)
For the past two weeks, I’ve been using AmLactin Moisturizing Body Lotion and AmLactin Ultra Hydrating Body Cream each day. I’ve been using the lotion on my arms and legs, and I’ve been using the body cream on hands, elbows, knees and feet. I took some “before” photos of my hands prior to starting my AmLactin regimen. (Due to the fact that my poor legs haven’t seen the sunshine since, oh, October or so, I’ll spare you photos of those…)
(And yes, my dog kept following me around as I was trying to take photos, so he gets a cameo…
These hands needed some help – especially after this winter! I’d never used AmLactin products prior to this review, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how much I like them. These products are fragrance-free, and neither product is greasy or oily, yet they both moisturize extremely well. The body cream is especially thick and velvety-feeling when I smooth it into my skin.
Now, here’s an “after” hand photo — two weeks into using AmLactin:
I’m really happy with the direction my skin has taken over the past couple of weeks! It’s softer and smoother, and it looks so much healthier — dare I say “younger?” AmLactin recommends applying their products after a shower to lock in moisture. I’ve found that my skin’s gotten softer as I’ve begun to include AmLactin products in my daily skincare regimen.
When I first started using the products, I noticed a little tingle from the alpha-hydroxy acid when I rubbed it into my skin.– remember, AmLactin has AHA, which is great for encouraging cell turnover, but it also increases your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight. AmLactin recommends using sunscreen while you’re using their products.
