If your Spring Break plans slant toward the more exciting, you may enjoy today’s new Groupon – $30 for two admissions to Paintball Explosion in Dundee, Illinois! I have to tell you that the last time Groupon offered this one, we bought two of these because our 16-year-old daughter had been begging us to take her paintballing. None of us had played before, and so we went over to Paintball Explosion this winter to see what it was all about…
… and it was a BLAST (literally!) We had SO much fun! I was a little leary of getting hit with the paintballs, so I was happy to see that you can hide in lots of obstacles while shooting at the other team. The fields are beautifully themed with lots of outbuildings, abandoned military planes, city buses, bunkers, and even a pirate ship to hide in and shoot from. My daughter and husband, who were more daring, fared worse than I and came home with a few “battle wounds” (little bruises) from running across the fields and getting hit with paintballs. But it was a riotous day of fun for all of us.
Once you’re inside the park, you can play all day long in as many matches as you’d like, and they do offer beginner matches to get started in before you go play in the larger events… like a massive game of capture-the-flag played across three enormous paintball fields. Oh, I can’t even express how much fun we had on our big day paintballin’ :)
If you’re a fan of the old Santa’s Village amusement park too, several of the paintball fields are located in what used to be the Coney Island section of the park. As a kid, I always wanted to run around in the woods where the old Santa’s Village train track used to be, or run through the tunnels and track where the antique cars were located. When you’re paintballing, you can also explore all of those previously off-limits-on-foot areas of the park.
I was thrilled to log on to Groupon today and see that they’re offering this great package again. $30 for two admissions, gear rentals and paintballs is a steal, considering admission to the grounds alone, with no equipment, gun, or paintballs, is $18 each. Groupon values this package at $91, and we’re definitely going to do this one again at this price.
Want to do it too? Go get your Groupon! (And if you have any questions about playing paintball at Paintball Explosion, I’d be happy to answer them too!)
