CRAZY UPDATE: The scenario below isn’t going to work, because while nearly all P&G coupons for this shampoo are for “Aussie and/or Herbal Essences,” the B1G1F in the 9/16 SS is for Herbal Essences ONLY. In my excitement over the potential deal, I saw the purple bottles on the coupon and assume (wrongly) it was for both Herbal Essences and Aussie, as they usually are…
However, if you wish to continue reading on, it’s one HECK of a head-twister that will certainly sharpen your deal-making skills if you think it through. (And that’s what I get for trying to write deals while making dinner and getting two boys ready for a Cub Scout Halloween party tonight..! Ha.)
Aussie shampoo, conditioner and stylers are part of the current “Buy Two, Get One FREE” sale at Jewel-Osco. Through tomorrow, 10/26, the price of the haircare products are $2.99. The price will jump to $3.49 on Saturday according to the shelf tags, so you’ve got a little over a day to do this deal if you like Aussie:
Coupons to use with the deal:
– Buy shampoo, get conditioner or styler FREE – 9/16 SS (exp. 10/31!)
(UPDATE: This coupon is only for HERBAL ESSENCES. Don’t do the deal this way. But play along if you want to practice deal-making…)
– $1 off 2 – 10/7 RP
Let’s wrap our heads around the craziness that always accompanies using a B1G1F coupon with a B2G1F sale, shall we?
Deal idea: Buy three shampoos and three conditioners or stylers.
Shampoo #1: $2.99
Shampoo #2: $2.99
Shampoo #3: FREE with store sale
Conditioner #1: $2.99
Conditioner #2: #2.99
Conditioner #3: FREE with store sale
Use $1-off-2 Aussie coupon on first two bottles. Then, use TWO Buy Shampoo, get Conditioner or Styler FREE” coupons on Conditioners #1 and #2. You’ll pay $4.98 for six, or .83 each.
Aussie also double-dips this “Spend $50, Get $15” on selected P&G mail-in rebate through 12/31. Save your receipts, as there’s much P&G goodness coming in Sunday’s CVS/pharmacy ad too…
QUIZ TIME for my mathematician readers: IS there an even better way to do this deal? I’m in the midst of making dinner at the moment, but I’m seeing some potential here with all of these frees. However, we probably don’t want to use a B1G1F coupon on a bottle that’s already free – that’s confusing for us, the cashier, and the register. Further difficulty: All coupons are limited to 4 like coupons per transaction, so you can use a maximum of four $1-off-2s AND four B1G1F coupons in the same transaction.
If you think you’ve got a better way here, show off those couponin’ skills, guys!

If you used the ‘buy 2, get 1’ q, wouldn’t you get 2 free (one from store sale, 1 from q) That would take it to 8 items for $4.98, right???
So, buy 2 Shampoos at 2.99
get 1 shampoo/conditioner/styler free (with store promo)
AND get 1 conditioner/styler free (with Q)
Hope I’m figuring it right, guys!! :)

If the B1G1 coupon only attaches to one item and you can use a coupon on the free item then I think you can get 9 for $3.98.
$2.99.
$2.99. Free with coupon
Free
$2.99
$2.99. Free with coupon
Free
$2.99
$2.99. Free with coupon
Free
That leaves 3 at $2.99 that can still have a coupon plus the 3 free ones from the sale. Use another B1G1 free coupon and 2 $1/2 coupons for a total for $3.98 for 9 bottles.

I don’t see a BOGO Aussie coupon in 9/16 SS. And couponTom doesn’t have it listed either…am I missing something?
