Back to School time is here again, and this is a great time to talk about General Mills’ Box Tops for Education program. Many products include Box Tops, and each one is worth ten cents to your child’s school. You’ll find them on everything from General Mills cereals to Yoplait yogurt to Old El Paso taco shells! My kids always check packages before sending anything to the recycle bin, as they know that a multitude of brands participate in this program. Their school can use the money they receive from collecting box tops to purchase anything they need — supplies, computer equipment, or gear for their classrooms.
Right now, Walmart has specially-marked bonus-size Box Tops packages of everything from cereals to fruit snacks to yogurt to granola bars (perfect for back-to-school time!) Each package also comes with five bonus Box Tops for Education. My boys and I headed over to Walmart to pick out some breakfast and snacks…
We spotted these three-packs of Betty Crocker fruit snacks priced at $4.98. Each three-pack has five bonus Box Tops for Education inside. (The kids were delighted that these had other bonuses too — character stickers and activities inside the packs!)
We also spotted 2-packs of General Mills cereals for $5 each. Each one has two boxes of cereal inside (some Minions activities too!) and five bonus Box Tops for Education. Again, these bonus packs with specially-marked packaging can only be found at Walmart.
The five bonus Box Tops on each bonus pack are worth .50 to our children’s school. The Box Tops for Education program is one of America’s largest school-earnings loyalty programs. Did you know that more than 80,000 Kindergarten-8th Grade schools participate nationally? Box Tops for Education has contributed over $525 million to participating schools since the launch of the program in 1996.
You can learn more about the Box Tops for Education program at www.boxtopsforeducation.com. Learn more about Walmart’s participation at www.walmart.com/boxtops.
And, don’t forget your coupons too! You can find printable coupons for many of these products right here on my blog. Remember that a coupon for $1 off 2 items will apply to the entire pack as an individual unit, not the individual packages within it — each multipack counts as one item to the register.
Do your children get excited about collecting Box Tops? Our school sets up a fun competition between the classrooms to encourage the children to bring in as many Box Tops as they can.
