Last month we saw a crazy deal on airfares from Chicago’s O’Hare airport to New Orleans around the $100 mark — round trip! This morning, reader Gailanne let me know that the super-low fares for NOLA are back again!
Here are some deals I found for long weekends, mid-week or week-long trips to New Orleans:
- Wednesday, May 27 – Monday, June 1 OR Wednesday, June 3, 2015: Nonstop flights $80.20 on Spirit, $102.20 on United!
- Saturday, June 27 – Wednesday, July 1, 2015: $112.20 nonstop on United!
- Wednesday, July 15 – Tuesday, July 21 OR Wednesday, July 22, 2015: $102.20 nonstop on United!
Ever been to the Big Easy? See the sights of the French Quarter, eat some beignets, swoon over the seafood… these are SUCH great prices!
I used Travelocity to find these great fares! Click here to search for your own.
(I like booking with Travelocity too because you have 24 hours to cancel your flight for a full refund, no questions asked.)
Need a hotel? Here are rates for a couple of the New Orleans boutique hotels (and, you can sign up for Stash Rewards to start accruing loyalty points for these – it’s FREE!) The middle set of dates noted above has the best rates:
Hotel Dauphine: $164/night June 27-July 1
Bourbon Orleans: $174/night June 27-July 1

If you’re busy putting a bargain-priced trip to New Orleans together, reader Gailanne found a fantastic price at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans through Sam’s Club travel — just $54.00/night! She says the same room booked directly through Hyatt is $188. That’s a FANTASTIC price!
Hope this helps someone!

Hi- I have a sister that lives in the Garden District, and I have been done there lots of times. I am just warning you though that it gets really hot and muggy there in the summertime, and for those people that can’t stand the heat, I would not go down there in July. Right now it is a lot more pleasant, but you are hitting Mardi Gras, and you are not going to find cheap rates this week. I also am not sure, but I know that one cheap airline charges you extra even for your carry on luggage. It might be Sprint.
I usually fly Southwest there because I have had a better flying experience with them than I have United, and I just like flying out of Midway a whole lot better than flying out of OHare. This last Christmas I flew down there on Southwest though, and my sister had to wait at the airport for me for four hours. We were an hour late taking off, and then the plane spent 15 minutes trying to land at NO, and finally gave up due to thunderstorms, and flew us to Houston while they sorted things out. This is the first time anything like this has happened on Southwest though, and it was not their fault.
When I flew down there for Christmas, the flight cost me $289 round trip, which is about as cheap as your going to be able to find over the holidays. The other expensive times for air fare are mardi gras, French Quarter Fest, which is in April, and jazzfest, which is the last weekend in April and the first weekend in May. I usually go to jazz fest one weekend, which I love. The last two times I have gone to jazz fest though, I could not get a flight going down that was even remotely cheap, and I ended up taking Amtrack down, which cost me $102. I then flew home on a Tuesday because the flights were way cheaper than they were on Monday.
New Orleans is a wonderful city to visit in the spring and fall though, and they can definitely use the business. BTW- Both the Hyatt and the Hilton hotels are in the central business districe, which is within walking distance of the French Quarter. Hope this helps, Nancy

Man, New Orleans just wants tourists, doesn’t it? I just got an email from Hilton (I am on their list for special offers) and they just sent out a code for $89/night at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside — use code P4. The code is only good for reservations made through 2/20/15.
