UPDATE: Giveaway has ended! The winner is Cynthia!
I’ve got another giveaway for you, but this one’s got a twist… if you win, you’ll likely have to give your prize to someone else!
Bounty has launched TeacherWishList.com, a place for teachers to post lists of the school supplies needed for in-class use. In turn, parents can view the list online and donate supplies that their children’s classrooms are in need of. (You may not be aware, but teachers typically deal with purchasing classroom supplies out-of-pocket each year for their classes. My own sister is a teacher, and I know she spends quite a bit of her own money each year on items needed both for her room and for her students’ personal use.)
If you’re a teacher, you can post your own teacher wish list on the site, and if you’re a parent, it’s easy to search for your child’s school and teacher to find a wish list for your classroom.
But this week, I’ve got a giveaway for that special teacher in your life! Bounty will provide a $25 gift card in order to help fulfill the back-to-school supply wish list of a classroom of your choice. So, one reader will win this $25 gift card… and in turn, pass their giveaway prize on to a deserving teacher to use for school supplies! (Of course, if the winner happens to be a teacher, he or she is more than welcome to keep the prize for use in his or her own classroom.)
To enter, simply post a reply in the comments under this article! This giveaway begins today, September 22nd, 2011 and runs for one week. The contest will end on September 28th at 11:59pm CST, and on September 29th, one winner will be chosen via a random number generator!
Parents: You can also help spread the word about TeacherWishList.com by becoming a fan of Bounty on Facebook! Don’t forget to search for and fulfill a wish list at TeacherWishList.com for your child’s school too.
Teachers: You can register on TeacherWishList.com to create a free wish list and request school supplies that your classroom would like donated. And, Bounty is running another special giveaway just for teachers too! Through September 27th, teachers can enter to win a $462 prize to help fulfill their classroom wish lists. (Are you wondering why the prize is $462? That’s the amount on average U.S. teachers spend annually out of their own pocket to purchase necessary supplies for their classrooms.) Each school that submits five or more wish lists will also be entered for a chance to win the grand prize: a $25,000 art room makeover with the help of a designer. Enter at this link!
More about Bounty’s TeacherWishList.com:
Created by School Family Media and sponsored by Bounty, the Teacher Wish List service connects parents with their children’s teachers to help provide the classroom supplies needed to ensure every child in every school has the best possible learning environment. By uploading their classroom supply wish lists to TeacherWishList.com, teachers now can communicate all of their classroom supply needs directly to the parents of their students, and parents now have a faster, easier way to get the information they need to donate much-needed school supplies for teachers.
In a recent survey of elementary and middle-school teachers, 71% reported spending an average of $462 per year out of their own pocket on classroom supplies and learning tools.* Teacher Wish List was created to thank teachers for their generosity. (How many other jobs require employees to pay for supplies?) This service makes it even easier for parents to continue to help teachers.
For Teacher Wish List and for School Family Media, it’s all about connecting parents with schools and with teachers to provide the best for kids nationwide.
Legal: This giveaway is sponsored by Bounty and TeacherWishList.com. Responding to this post with a comment qualifies readers to enter. Duplicate posts do not increase chances of winning. The contest began at midnight CST on September 22nd, 2011 and will end at 11:59pm CST on September 28th, 2011. One winner will be chosen via random-number generator on September 29th, 2011 and announced the same day. Winner will receive ONE $25 gift card to pass on to a teacher for the purpose of purchasing classroom school supplies. Products, prizes, information, and giveaway have been provided by Bounty and TeacherWishList.com. I have received a $25 gift card to give to one of my children’s teachers, as well as information to help promote the product as part of this giveaway. Winner will be contacted via the Private Messaging feature of JillCataldo.com and via email. If the winner does not reply to the message within 48 hours of notification, the winner will forfeit the prize and a new winner will be chosen. Fulfillment of prizes to winners will be handled directly by Bounty. Good luck to everyone!

Teachers spend hundreds when they start and every time they change grades or subjects. Every one who can should help a little.
dsammons says
I think this is a wonderful idea. At the school my child attends, the teachers make a list at the beginning of the school year as a requirement for our children to bring in lots of expensive products that I cannot afford to buy. If you don’t bring in those items, you are looked down upon. I cannot help that;I have enough costs with having to now buy not only school supplies, but also uniforms. I am so greatful that someone has decided to help these teachers out. Thank you.

My husband is a teacher in a poverty area school (As has been my mother for the last twenty five years) and while his room could use a lot, knowing my husband, he’ll give the supplies to his kids. Their families can’t afford supplies like notebooks so we always buy a ton at the beginning of the year so they can succeed!

bubulldog says
I am currently a SAHM who was a teacher in her former life. My husband is also a teacher. My friends and family were always amazed (and a little appalled) at the amount of my own money I would spend on monthly basis for my classroom and students. My parents would often say they had NO IDEA how much teacher did on their own. I am always extremely appreciative of anyone who makes it known. In a society where many frown upon teachers unions, tenure and retirement systems, it is nice to see that some can understand that teachers do indeed EARN what they are paid….and then some!
Yamaha Girl says
