I recently put my Bounty Duratowels to the test with my own “Spring Cleaning” project — cleaning my office window. Why was this such a big job, you might wonder? Well, let me show you…

This is my office window. As my office is located in a basement, the original view out this window wasn’t too pretty. Who wants to look at a corrugated steel window well all day long? So, when I set up my office several years ago, I also “improved” the view out this window with lovely faux ivy wall art (from WindowWellPictures.com, in case you’re wondering!) As you can see, this improved the view significantly.

That is, unless you look too closely. Each spring, I open the blinds and look at the spiderwebby, spider-nesty, dead spider mess that countless little creatures have spun all over my window well art throughout the winter:

Yuck. Nobody’s going to be fooled into thinking my room has a sweet view with this stuff messing up my “ivy.” Climbing into this space to clean it each year is no fun, and I usually go through a lot of paper towels, Mr. Clean and glass cleaner to get my “realistic” view back. So, I opened up a roll of my new Bounty DuraTowels:

Did you know they came in prints too? I didn’t until I opened them up! Then I climbed inside the well and scrubbed the entire window well out. Incredibly, I only used two paper towels to clean every surface. (I probably could have done it with one, but the first towel had picked up so much dirt that I was ready to throw it away — but it hadn’t fallen apart yet.) So then I tackled the screen:

Scrubbing dead bugs and other unmentionables off an aluminum screen usually has a a cheese-grater effect on paper towels, but my DuraTowel cleaned the screen well and didn’t fall apart. What’s not to like about that?

And, what a difference! My window is sparkling clean again. Now, I keep some silk plants in the well too to add to the lush greenery view. (Hey, I already admitted the view is fake. Adding fake plants isn’t going to cheapen the view!) I replaced the screen and blinds, and now my window is looking great again for another year.   15. I really like how you demonstrated about the paper towels. I would love to try also. I have lots of windows that needs cleaning and the paper towels that I do have shreds in pieces. I didn’t know that there were such a thing of strong paper towels. Great job on that window. Beautiful view as well. :)

  19. If I win how fast can I get them? Can you beleive I ran out of paper towels today. I went to my “stockpile” and surprise, no pile, not one sigle roll! OOOPS. I’m going to hunt down the best price after I’m done with your postings for today.

  24. With three small kids in the house, I could really use a strong paper towel to clean up all their messes.

  26. I try to buy as few paper towels as possible, because I feel like it is a waste to use them and throw them away when you can just use a rag and wash it.
    But, I would like to try these. They could come in handy for those icky dog or kid messes that require you to just throw the rag away instead of even trying to wash it!

  51. I never thought of using them to dry my dishes. We don’t have a dishwasher, so everything is done by hand. Of course, the same dishtowel that we use to dry our hands are used to dry the dishes. After reading this..ick! Curious to try them out on my dishes and see how really tough they are!
