It’s a good week to buy Febreze products at Jewel-Osco. Through 3/13/18, Febreze Air sprays, car clips, and Small Spaces air fresheners are all on sale for $2.50. MyMixx has a $3-off-2 ecoupon that should drop these to $1 each.
3/8 3:30 PM: UPDATE: This $3-off-2 Febreze ecoupon is now working in MyMixx! More details at the end of the article.
However, since the sale began yesterday, I’ve been getting email from readers saying the deal doesn’t work as advertised. This is due to the ongoing MyMixx glitch that has been present since 2015.
MyMixx has always had issues when the total dollar value of a multiple-item offer (in this case, $3.00 off two Febreze) exceeds the cost of ONE single item. With the Febreze items on sale for $2.50 this week, MyMixx will not take the $3.00 off two. It is taking $2.50 off and “losing” the remaining 50 cents.
I headed over to my local Jewel this morning to try it out with two cans of Febreze Air, and again, I had the same issue that everyone else is having:
Because this offer is featured in the currently weekly Jewel ad, if you’re doing this deal, I would make sure to point the MyMixx error out to your cashier and ask them to correct the discount to the $3.00 offer shown both on MyMixx and in the ad itself.
3/8 3:30 PM: I have received information that this particular $3-off-2 MyMixx Febreze ecoupon offer is now working at Jewel. This ecoupon has been manually set to ensure that the entire $3 value comes off when two Febreze items are purchased.
However, from the new information I have, it does not seem that this is a global change within the system for all MyMixx offers. It remains to be seen whether other MyMixx offers with a total that exceeds the price of one item will automatically work in the future.
As regular Jewel-Osco shoppers know, this issue affects any brand and any product where MyMixx has an ecoupon whose total value exceeds the price of one item. I’ve been reaching out to Jewel on this since I first discovered it (February 18, 2015 when I was on a beta-testing campaign for MyMixx.) In fact, here’s the first email I sent them about the issue.
Hi Elizabeth, Just wanted to give you a heads-up on a little MyMixx issue. MyMixx has a digital offer for $1 off 4 Super Chill beverages. I loaded it and bought these today as part of my Week 3 blog post. They are on sale for .79 each.
When my cashier scanned the first bottle, the register showed MyMixx taking off $1.00 off -one- bottle, then reducing that to “Limit of .79 reached.” It appears to be coded as a $1.00-off-one instead of $1.00-off-four. So, MyMixx ended up taking .79 off one instead of $1.00 off four.
I’m attaching a photo of my receipts – thought you might want to know so Jewel can fix it on their end :)

As I am aware that some of the people capable of fixing this issue are reading this post today, please understand that this glitch is not an isolated issue for Febreze or P&G offers — it affects all manufacturer offers where the total dollar value of the reward exceeds one single item’s value.
I, and many other shoppers, would love to see MyMixx working correctly on these multi-item offers.

Are they ever going to fix this? Tried this deal yesterday in Schaumburg thinking it would be ok because its in the ad and when it rang up wrong, cashier said NO they cannot change MyMixx errors. I showed her the ad and said it is false advertising!

MyMixx only took $2.50 off Febreze at Westchester for me. I told them to take it off and I didn’t want it then.

I bet they don’t want to fix it because they get the extra money while we get ripped off. If 10000 people buy Febreze this week Jewel makes an extra $5000.

I don’t think it’s intentional on Jewel’s part. I have been chasing this issue for years though trying to get it to the right person’s attention (either at Quotient, who runs MyMixx, or Jewel) without success.
What I believe is happening (again – 100% my opinion!) is that MyMixx is set up to prevent the shopper from getting coupon overage (even though Jewel’s coupon policy does allow manufacturer coupon overage — but that’s another story.) Anyway, I think there is an error in the system where when there is a multiple-item MyMixx offer, it is still comparing the TOTAL dollar value against ONE item’s price, then taking the rest of the discount away to “prevent” overage.
What’s strange is that the MyMixx doesn’t come off until the second Febreze is scanned, so the system is indeed looking for the presence of two Febreze being puchased — but then it still doesn’t apply the total coupon value to the total number of items purchased.
Instead of seeing “$5.00 total items were purchased, now subtract $3.00” it sees “$2.50 total items were purchased, now subtract $2.50 and ditch the extra .50.”

Glad you are bringing this issue up Jill as I have had other issues with MyMixx coupons even working on one item let alone on two. A week ago, I purposely bought something (can’t remember what it was now) just because it had a MyMixx ecoupon and when I got home I realized I didn’t get the $1 off I was supposed to. I went back the next day and the service desk nicely provided me with the $1 with no questions. This is annoying to say the least.

I’m not sure if the day will ever come where Albertsons revamps the two marketing programs into one.
I really miss Just For U. (And YES, all of our old Dominicks accounts we all had still work at Safeway & Safeway.com!)
Whenever we shop at Safeways on vacations, it really makes me miss Dominick’s that much more.
Just For U is STILL a superior product vs. MyMixx.
MyMixx & Jewel register programming are HORRIBLE & both need major upgrades, maybe full rewrites.
The programming really needs to match the current couponing policy.
Especially the extra prompts or beeps that slow down checking out.
No in defense of of MyMixx, I do not know Acme’s coupon policy or shop there, so maybe that’s one of the reasons we have issues at Jewel.
I guess I should have tried shopping at Acme last trip to NY.
As far as the full amount not coming off, I’m not sure if it’s a Quotient issue, or a Jewel register issue either.
CVS & Walgreens glitch usually NOT in favor of the customer.
Usually, at CVS, it’s not taking off enough, especially with in-store coupon machine offers.
And at Walgreens, it’s more of not matching up / don’t come off, so they won’t take the coupon or you miss out on the offer unless you have a cashier or manager that will key it in.
Although at Walgreens, for B1G1Free offers, many times registers take off the more expensive product.
Meijer’s issue with buy 10 get 11th free & using coupons creates headaches too if not scanned in the correct order.
As I’ve mentioned in the past, & if you want a shot at a nice paying job at one of these companies, research what positions are on Indeed.com or LinkedIn.
Have a recent log of glitches both in the store’s favor & the customers favor.
Better yet, if you can get some physical receipts & coupons causing the issues, plus an idea of what needs to be done & how to QC it. (Which means when you read about it, go run to the store & get physical evidence just like Jill!)
You don’t need to be a programmer, they have those, you need to just know how to explain the repeating issues & explain how to properly QC.
And most important, explain how much money they are losing & how many bad customer experiences these glithces cause & mention cashier & manager time dealing with making transaction corrections, & causing longer checkout lines.
You’d be suprised how many employees have NO CLUE how much bad stuff is going on outside of that corporate office.
Also, tell them what you like about their product & how you want to make it better, & even give examples… especially if it’s the competiton.
All retailers are feeling the Amazon & online threat, they are all are looking for improvements to keep the shrinking market share.
