A couple weeks ago I blogged about a way we’re beating the mosquitoes this summer. This is another “secret weapon” in our quest to beat the bug bites — a pop-up screen house. This style of screen house needs no poles, stakes or ropes. It sets up in seconds, popping up with a quick twist and shake when it’s pulled out of its bag.
Does the Mosquito Patch actually work? We tried it.
A few weeks ago, I heard about the Mosquito Patch on the radio. A caller was passionate about it, saying the patch repels mosquitoes without synthetic chemicals. We put the patches to the test this week at scout day camp, and here’s what happened.
Summer camp through the lens of a thrift store camera
Watching my son leave for summer camp was bittersweet. I went to camp for the first time when I was his age, and I think camp is a great experience for kids. As he counted down the days until it was time to leave, we talked about what he might expect…

Last week, I had a $10-off-$10 coupon to use at JC Penney, and as I wandered around the store looking for a deal, I spotted these Acrylic Ruana Wraps on sale for $28. I have a lot of scarves, but I didn’t have a wrap that would cover my arms completely.
Our 3-year-old Sony Smart TV is “too old” to use.
Our television is a little over three years old now, and it’s already outdated. Tonight, we clicked the YouTube button on the television to watch some clips.
This is what we saw…
