I received email today from readers asking how to know when a coupon is fraudulent. It’s a good question, because while the majority of internet coupons are completely valid to use, counterfeit coupons do occasionally make their way onto the net. Usually, the rule of thumb is that if a coupon is offered on the product manufacturer’s website, or on an authorized coupon distribution website, it’s legitimate. But…
Deals of the Week for August 19, 2008
Another week of free stuff and cheap stuff!
First… did you save your coupon inserts from Sunday’s paper? There’s a coupon for a free loaf of Sara Lee bread in the Redplum insert. Aren’t those the best kind of coupons? For the last 3 weeks now, there has been a coupon for something free every single week. It doesn’t even matter what store you take it to.
Giving it back…
Sometimes when I’m out enjoying a great sale like the one that just took place at Jewel, people will ask me what I’m doing with all the food I’m buying. It’s no secret that I am a weekly contributor to our local food pantry. I love contributing to the food pantry because I know exactly […]

Jewel deal delights!
Here’s an email I got tonight from one happy shopper who did the Jewel $10-off-your-next purchase deal 5 times in a row. (Remember, you can use the first $10 Catalina coupon to help pay for the next group of items, and so on…)
Tonight’s shopping trip to Jewel cost me $15.67 – the $10.00 Catalina I still have is good until Aug. 26th, so my out-of-pocket will be $5.67.
For my $5.67 I got:
18 boxes of Orville Redenbacher popcorn
13 4-packs of Snack Pack Pudding
4 26oz. cans of Hunts Pasta Sauce
7 24oz bottles of Hunts Ketchup (would have bought more, but
Saving on clothes
With Back-to-School season rapidly approaching, it seems everyone wants to know how they can save money on this rather expensive time of year. I’ve got some great tips on saving on clothes (and believe me, I know how difficult it can be to shop for clothes for teens and tweens — the days of me being able to buy things -for- my daughter are long over as she insists on picking out everything herself!)
Deals of the Week for August 12, 2008
In this week’s inserts (8/10) there is a coupon for a free can of Mighty Dog dog food. If you won’t use it, pass it along to someone who will, or donate it to a food pantry…
Over to Jewel… (note: the $20/$10 ConAgra deal has officially ended.)
Wal-Mart has Honey Bunches of Oats “Just Bunches” cereal on sale for $1.75. Print a $2 off coupon here and get some cereal that’s better than free! (Buy something else along with this to use up that extra quarter of overage.)
My oh Mitchum!
Here’s an email from another one of Johnny’s listeners who loves the Mitchum deodorant deal:
“So this Mitchum deal really rocks! My husband only wears Mitchum too.
I tallied it up. We bought 59 deodorants. We spent $34.88 out of our pockets. We have $43.00 in Catalina coupons to use at Jewel (these are the same as cash.) So Jewel paid us $8.12 to take the deodorant home.
More reader mail! The Mitchum deal
Here’s an email from a Johnny B listener who’s done the Mitchum deodorant deal numerous times today…
21 deodorants = $1.19 including tax!
Reader mail and one large stash of toilet paper…
Check out this photo and email sent to me by a wild pair of new couponers who went on a shopping spree this weekend after I sent them a tip on toilet paper… proving anyone can do this!
“Well… it’s official. The Peto’s have begun couponing! We followed a lead Jill sent us on Cottonelle (the ONLY toilet paper I buy). We ran this deal 12 times! Yes… 12!
