Phoenix’s CBS 5 News has an excellent news report about the Phoenix counterfeit coupon ring and its ties to the counterfeit coupons used on the TLC show “Extreme Couponing.” The segment shows specific clips of counterfeits being used on the show, with some of them beeping at the register as invalid, then being pushed through anyway.
I was interviewed for this segment via skype, and Bud Miller of the CIC appears too. Bud states, “We have known for quite some time that a large number of the guests on that show have used counterfeit coupons.”
It’s a must-see:
The reporter, Jadiann Thompson, contacts TLC repeatedly in the segment, and TLC’s spokesperson repeatedly refuses to comment:
So we took our findings straight to TLC.
We tried again… and again.
“We have uncovered that counterfeit coupons have been used on your show. With your knowledge, we’d like to get a comment from you about it.”
TLC: “We have no comment.”
And again…
“You realize that that’s breaking the law.”
TLC: “There’s nothing for me to say. We have no comment.”
“There are hundreds of people that are very concerned about the ethics of your program.”
TLC: “I understand. There’s nothing more to say.”

Does TLC think this will all just go away? FINALLY THIS is getting some attention!!! Good work CBS.
TLC has become the lying network anyway. How about their Breaking Amish show that turns out, none of the people who left the Amish and met for the first time in New York City had already been not Amish for a long time, and 2 people on the show they said met and feel in love on the show have been living toether 2 years and have a daughter almost 2 years old together too. The whole show is lies! None of those people are Amish. Half of them have been married before to non Amish people, and a bunch have DUI and arrest records for other states. How’d they get a DUI when the show pretends they are all “learning to drive” for the first time on the show? They may be “real people” on the shows but it is scripted and FAKE FAKE FAKE.
Just like the stuff they show on Extreme Couponing! No store will just let you use 200 fake coupons unless TLC is paying them off!

This gets picked up by other news stations and isn’t forgotten. I would really love to see the heat turned up on TLC and to see them have to take responsibility for what they have done. I wonder why they have not gone after the show or atleast opened an investigation. I bet if they did that then some of the couponers on the show may end up telling the real story. I remember hearing rumors that the show provided some of the counterfeits.

I am glad it was reported on and like the other comment, hope it gets picked up elsewhere. Sadly too many people have seen the show and not the reports of it being fake or unable to achieve without breaking the law. Why do they even do it? I don’t understand why they would even want to show that or the stores agreeing to over-ride all those free coupons when they most likely know they are eating the cost for the products?
Bad… for what gain?
