Fun clearance finds and surprise deals at CVS/pharmacy

I headed over to CVS tonight as I had $14.60 in ExtraBucks expiring tonight. What to buy?

I put together a little trip:

– Two M&MS ($6.00) – $1-off-2 coupon + $2 ExtraBucks back
– One Softsoap body wash ($2.99) – $1.50 coupon + $1 ExtraBucks back
– One Sure deodorant ($2.00) – $1 coupon + $1 ExtraBucks back

Between manufacturer coupons and ExtraBucks, this trip would eat up $7.49 of my $14.60. What else to buy?

We love the Soda Shaq cream sodas that are on sale for .50 this week — I figured I’d buy four (.50 each) which would put me up to $9.49. I headed to CVS to figure out the rest, and that’s when I found…

A bunch of Essence of Beauty products were on clearance! I really like their lotions and skin creams. I picked up two 8oz. Essence of Beauty hand and body creams in Sun Blossom fragrance for $1.74 each! Now I was up to $12.97.

I continued browsing the clearance Essence of Beauty, and I spotted gift packs of travel-sized Essence of Beauty gel, lotion and body mist in Japanese Garden scent for $1.49 each! I bought two, which put me up to $15.95 — perfect for using up my $14.60 in ExtraBucks.

However, that’s not how things rang up. Check out my receipt:

The Soda Shaq strawberry cream sodas rang up at .24 each, not .50! Instead of my post-coupon, post-ExtraBucks total being $1.36, it actually rang up at $14.91. After my $14.60 in ExtraBucks, I was left with a .31 total. I paid $1.43 in tax (total of $1.73) and got $4 in ExtraBucks.

Here’s what else was interesting too — the Essence of Beauty products are part of a “Spend $15, Get $5 ExtraBucks” sale this week. Clearance products are usually not part of ExtraBucks offers, but my receipt shows I now have $6.46 credit toward this week’s reward. (I may have to go back and get some more!)
