My mom was at my Huntley Jewel-Osco, and she called me and said “You should come over to your Jewel.”
Well, I always appreciate a heads-up when something good’s going on! Having a friend or family member spotting sales for you is always helpful too. What was her deal of the day?
Many Good Cook-branded kitchen tools were on clearance too. I spotted Good Cook hamburger patty presses on clearance for $1.49. I forgot to take a photo, but I reviewed one last summer if you want to see what it looks like.
Have you spotted any good clearances this week?

And after all of that HFCS-avoidance, what do I see in the refrigerated case in the Jewel checkout lane?
Yeah. I bought it.

I was there this morning and spotted the candles along with some Febreze sprays both for $1.25 but wanted to make sure we had coupons for them before I bought them. They had quite a few of each. I also saw just a couple double packs of Air Wick Oil plug in scents ($1) but dummy me should have snatched them up and post redeemed. I just went back and they were gone! I wasn’t sure which things we had coupons for but I guess I learned my lesson. The early bird GETS THE OIL! I did find the coupons, which would have made those Air Wicks FREE. I ended up getting some sprays for a quarter is all. Even at 50c each, those oil things would have been a deal without coupons.

Hi- I was at the Jewel on Chicago Avenue in Evanston last night, and they had a bunch of Bob’s Red Mill on clearance. There was a $1.50 coupon for Bob’s Red Mill that was available to print a few weeks ago too. They had corn flour on clearance as well as lots of hot cereal. They also had some King Arthur mixes on clearance

The 100 pk. is ringing up $4.99. It took a while for them to adjust.

I was able to find the angry bird freeze pops but for $.50 each, still a good deal. I was able to get some cheap hair dye for my mom for $.24. It was the garnier nutrise for $2.24 minus $2 coupon in the inserts. Which I will post redeem later. Some organic curry powder for $1.50, wild harvest organic coffee for $2.
Also, jewel brand tylenol for $.99, jewel brand children’s zyrtec and benadryl 8oz for $1.99 with long expiration dates 01/16. Great to keep on hand in the absence of coupon deals/sales, especially with winter around the corner and the viruses already circulating in the schools.

At Jewel. About a week ago I saw a tremendous amount of clearance stock similar to what other locations were selling at half or better but no prices. The manager said that the prices in the system were dropped and someone would have to re-enter them when they get a chance. So I kept checking and yesterday found the items all gone. Apparently they needed the space for Halloween.
I had a boatload of coupons so was very disappointed. LITH had food pantry had an open house yesterday. Hopefully the store gave it to them versus sending it back to warehouse.
