Here’s an interesting tidbit about Jewel-Osco. There was some speculation about a month ago whether or not Jewel still accepts two coupons on a Buy One Get One Free sale. (Cliffs Notes: Their policy still says yes, but their registers wouldn’t allow the second coupon without cashier intervention.)
So today I was at Jewel, and my husband asked me to pick up some vitamin B12, which he takes. I looked around on the shelf for the best deal, and Nature’s Truth was Buy One Get One FREE with $2.00-off-1 tearpad manufacturer coupons right next to it in the aisle. I figured this was a good time to try things out and see what might happen with that second coupon.
Well, I was pleasantly surprised when both $2 manufacturer’s coupons scanned without issue or cashier intervention. I watched both $2 discounts come off as the pair of coupons was scanned. The receipt shows both the B1G1F vitamins and $4.00 total coupon value coming off.

I’m thinking since it has both bottles as (2) listed for $6.99 instead of 1 @ $6.99 and 1 @ 0.00, it allows both $2 coupons. I wonder if it would be the same if you had 1 J4U $2/1 loaded and also handed them another $2/1 paper coupon if it would come off without cashier intervention? I will have to pay attention when I am trying to use 2 coupons on a BOGO sale in the future. Interesting indeed!

I think you may be right – the receipt is no longer showing either one of the bottles as “free.” With your JFU example, I would think (and we’ll have to try) that it would ring similarly with one JFU manufacturer coupon and one paper manufacturer coupon.
Definitely worth experimenting with further :)

Check out page 26 of the new Big Book, there is a Manufacturer coupon for $1/4 mix or match any Bush’s chili beans or Red Gold products. Combine with this sale: .75 RedGold tomatoes
14.5-15oz. RedGold tomatoes are $1.49, Buy One Get One FREE. Buy two.
If you get 4 tomatoes, makes them only 50c a can after the deal! Limit 1 coupon per transaction.
If you buy 2 beans and 2 tomatoes, since the beans are $1 each, it will be .62 each for the 4 items. If you get 4 cans of beans, it will be .75 each can.

You are lucky that your store still has Big Books out! I haven’t seen them in at least six months… great deal though!

in need of a policy refresher and analysis for a Sabra hummus deal:
1) 10oz is on sale B1G1F.
2) i have a manufacturer justforu coupon:
“Buy any THREE (3) Sabra® Hummus 10oz, Get ONE (1) Sabra® Hummus 10oz FREE , Expires: 02/11/20”
——-
can anybody help me digest how that coupon interacts with a store B1G1F sale?!?
i know jewel policy lets you do cents-off mfg’er on the freebie in a store sale/offer.
also, per policy:
“- Manufacturer coupons may be combined with store offers, store promotions & store coupons.
– One Manufacturer coupon and one Store coupon may be redeemed per item.”
but are there any restrictions when it comes to a store freebie counting as “bought” from the manufacturer’s perspective?
i know i should be able to AT WORST (in terms of per item price) walk away paying for 3 if i buy 8. but that’s a tad burdensome. O_o
the goal i’m getting at is: can i buy 4 total, have the e-coupon activate, and pay for just 1?
thanks.
Coupon Maven says
I believe yes, that if you buy four, the $1-off-3 SHOULD come off and you’d pay for one. Did you see my comment (in this article/post too) on what I discovered this week with the B1G1F Nature Made vitamins? I tried using two $2 manufacturer coupons (paper ones) and both scanned and deducted correctly.
assassin says
yup; that’s good news. and the first time i’ve seen an image in a comment here. :)
hopefully, the cashiers and service desk employees haven’t been swayed by misinformation, for purchases that do require intervention.

“.69 Hass avocados
Hass avocados are .69 each”
there’s a Coupons.com app rebate for up to $2 in Free Fresh Avocados, any brand. it’s good at numerous stores; local ones include Jewel, Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club, Meijer, and Kroger. Jewel’s the best option i’m aware of. Walmart’s website is saying $0.88 for Hass and $0.98 for Green Skin. Target’s website is currently saying $1.29, while the ad ending 2/1 had $0.89, yet i’d seen for $0.75 in-store that week. iow, they might merit an in-store check if you’re nearby — but i doubt they’ll beat Jewel!
the rebate fine print says good through 2/5/20, while the banner said “1/30 – 2/3”; this might mean you need to CLIP it by the end of Monday 2/3!

“WORD OF THE DAY
Stop in on Monday, February 3rd to grab a bottle of Mountain Dew Zero Sugar for free! Just say “ZERO” at the register to redeem. (Valid 1 per customer on 2/3/20 only).”
shame it’s green and not blue, but that doesn’t rule out it being addictive. ;)

Thanks – I’ll get a separate post up for this.

very belated post here…
“$2.15 Tostitos
9.5-13oz. Tostitos are $4.29, Buy One Get One FREE. Buy two”
this combines nicely with a JustforU:
“Save $4.00 on any Pepsi-Cola 12pk when you buy ONE (1) TOSTITOS (9.5 to 13oz) , Expires: 02/06/20”
Pepsi is at its regular price of $4.99 or $5.29 or whatever, but the BOGO and coupon are still sweet enough to make this a great deal. note that as usual, the pop isn’t limited to “Pepsi” proper; it also works on Mountain Dew, Mug Root Beer, Brisk, Sierra Mist, and Manzanita Sol.
now, the coupon runs through Thursday, and Tostitos are on a decent $3 sale then. but the sale ending today is superior, as the marginal cost of that 2nd Tostitos bag is only like $1.30.
(and if you do use the coupon 2/5 or 2/6, make sure it doesn’t do something dumb like attach to the chips as opposed to the pop, and have the discount truncate at $3. i had something like that happen with a Tostitos chips plus dip MyMixx many months ago.)
assassin says
my bad; lone 12-packs of Pepsi are actually $5.99, or 3 for $9.99. when i saw them at $5.29 on the Jewel website, i assumed they’d be no higher in-store, as the website always seems to be at least as high on any item i check.
so this means post-coupon, $2 for the pop if you buy 1, or $2 average if you buy 3.
