I see in the monthly Big Book that Sundays feature Giacobbino’s Deep dish 14″ pan pizzas 48.25 oz. – 53.25 oz. for $10 in the deli. They are listed in the weekly ad for BOGO $12.99. Will you get 2 for $10 if you buy them on Sunday? $5 each would be a nice price to try these as we have no idea how they taste. Any thoughts?
Also, the Canada Dry Ginger Ale plus lemonade and orangeade varieties which are J4U priced $1.99 limit 1 are also on ibotta $1-$1.25 back, depending which kind you get, either diet or reg. That’s only 74c after the deal if you get the diet one!

1) dunno; very good question. for comparison, i can say that back in May 2018, there was a monthly Big Book sale on Gilbert’s 10oz/4-count craft chicken sausage (great product, btw, though not cheap), for something like $4.99 or $5.99. then in the midst of that, there was a WEEKLY ad sale for B1G1F, of which i partook (using a $1.10 ibotta, naturally). and it did the BOGO at the *original* $6.99 price — so the weekly superseded the Big Book, as opposed to combining with it.
now, the scenario here is somewhat different. we have the weekly sale sort of interrupting the Big Book promotion, but the reverse is ALSO happening, as the B1G1F is only one day of the sale week!
if i’m in jewel on Sunday, i’ll check a pizza on the aisle scanners; if not, i’ll ask a family member to.
btw, read below for the 4/6 Wild Mike’s flash sale, which’ll get you an equivalent value.

It was BOGO at $12.99 when it was BOGO (weekly sales ad) and $10 Sundays. Bought my pizzas Feb 3 so 2 months ago, if anything changed with the registers. They were delicious and I plan on buying some more today.

thanks for this. my check with the aisle scanner on Sunday 4/7 confirmed it.

Has the coupon policy changed? I havent checked it in awhile, so thought should since this Just4U change and no mention of missed coupons, BOGO and it states the following… “Coupons may not be applied against any free item received in any offer”, so does this mean that we can no longer use 2 coupons on a BOGO?? I looked at the revision date and it states 1/20/12 and I know I have checked the policy after that date.
assassin says
eep, looks like they copy+pasted the Safeway coupon policy; probably related to the Just4U rollout. i’m skeptical that a policy which also governs PAPER coupons would be altered by changes just to *digital* coupons. even if this change were intentional, the date makes no sense, as you said. the most recent policy read “Summer 2014”, and has been in effect for over 4.5 years, so to pretend the Safeway terms go back 7 years _at Jewel_ is just nonsense.
so at the least, we know they were sloppy on the date. and i wouldn’t be surprised if the whole thing is copy+paste gone awry. but it’ll be interesting to see how the registers behave — not that changes in implementation prove any change in policy, given how flaky things were for a number of years (e.g. $M-off-N mymixxes being limited by a single item’s price).
Calibabydolly says
Yes- this policy does not allow for “post redeeming” of paper coupons. Also, no “overage” even if you have items in cart to eat the overage. No coupon may be used on a free item RECEIVED IN ANY OFFER. I wonder if they mean you cannot use a paper coupon on a J4U freebie, in example the FREE sugar this week or a FREE reward for spending X amount in the new J4U system? It would seem the limit one coupon per item rule would still stand on a BOGO deal. I am thinking they are just covering themselves in case you try to apply a coupon on a FREE AND CLEAR item, like the Sat. morning sampler OR a Facebook word of day. We know this already, yet it was never actually said in print/policy.
I know several cashiers who would just love to jump all over me and spew out this new policy at the register if in fact Jewel has informed them this IS THE NEW POLICY. I suppose this is the reason I have NOT tried to do the Clairol hair color deal using both the clipped J4U along with the BOGO paper coupon!? I am afraid!!!

2) Saturday 4/6 has a flash sale of $3.48 for Wild Mike’s pizza, 36.3 to 37.6oz, limit 4.
(price per ounce, it’s about the same as if Calibabydoll’s Giacobbino’s $5 scenario [a good question, btw] came true on Sunday.)
Calibabydolly says
I was reading comments on the Giacobbino’s pizza on their website and many people do NOT like these! I think the reasoning is they are all bread/crust and also do not have much sauce or flavor. The only positive thing was they said they have a lot of meat. We received the Wild Mike’s pizza for free on one of those Facebook word of days and to be quite honest; we were not wowed. They are big, though do not have as much crust as a deep dish, yet we prefer a thin crust pizza. I am grateful we were able to try them for free though! I think I will pass on the deal tomorrow. I have a fully stocked freezer of Jewel’s Signature thin crust pizzas, which we love! Some people may like the thicker pizzas and this flash sale and/or the BOGO deal on the Giacobbino’s may be something they want.
