1) the local store has practically every 5-count Larabar box on clearance (from $4.99): the vast majority are $2.99, but the Peanut Butter Banana Fruit & Nut Bars are oddly $1.25. (another location charges $2.00 for the latter, but supposedly has Chocolate Hazelnut Swirl for $1.25. so YMMV.)
there’s a manufacturer’s e-coupon: “SAVE $0.50 when you buy ONE (1) PACKAGE LÄRABAR multipack, LÄRABAR Protein multipack OR LÄRABAR Kid multipack, any flavor or size.” , Expiring 2/14/20.
plus, this brand is in a Catalina offer (running thru 2/2):
https://jillcataldo.com/current-national-catalina-offers-january-2020/
admittedly, because it’s by *dollar spent* as opposed to quantity bought, it’ll be difficult to rack up a meaningful award on the Peanut Butter Banana Fruit & Nut flavor.

2) “Notes on the Buy 5 Save $5 Sale
…
$1.62 Nabisco crackers
3.5-13.7oz. Ritz, Wheat Thins, Triscuit – $1.99
– .75 off 2 – 1/12 SS”
there is a Store e-coupon, no longer clippable, to get $1 off “Nabisco ‘Family Size’ crackers”. in parentheses, it designates “10 to 20.5 oz.” or thereabouts. the thing is, what’s normally *actually* Family Size varies by product line — for instance, Crisp & Thins get there with ~10oz, while conventional Ritzes require about 19oz — but this e-coupon seems to apply the size range blanketly. iow, it worked on a 13.7oz conventional Ritz, despite “Family Size” being nowhere on that box. (it was also listing 16oz saltines as eligible.)
that SmartSource manufacturer’s coupon will combine with the above, but a nicer alternative is a $0.75-off-1 Checkout51 for “Select NABISCO Cookies or Crackers”, valid on 7 oz. or larger, excludes Belvita, Oreo, and Triscuits (which each have their own rebates), Limit 5.
$0.24 final price for one conventional 13.x oz. Ritz box!
(aside: i can’t remember whether the $1 e-cpn also included cookies, so will post back if i find out.)

3) a few weeks back, during the previous B5S$5 sale, there was a hidden gem on tortillas:
La Banderita Soft Taco Flour Tortillas 10 Count , 16oz, normally priced $2.69, were on individual sale for $1.00. yep, that’s FREE after mix-and-match! curiously, they were the ONLY item in the brand participating in the B5S$5.
when i got there later in the sale week, the shelf was understandably emptied out.
this week, the ante has been upped; the sole La Banderita item in the B5S$5 is now:
La Banderita Burrito Grande Flour Tortillas 10 Count , 25oz , normally priced $3.99 , on individual sale for $1.00.
yeah, that’s 25oz of food for NOTHING!! now, even though it’s not a negative price, i made a point to include positive-priced B5S$5 items in my transaction (scanned both before and after the tortillas), just in case a $0 total cost would weird out the register somehow.
i cleaned out 6 of 8 from the shelf on my Thursday 1/23 visit (greed, or commendable restraint?). i’m not sure how often stock is replenished, but i can say that the previously-emptied *16oz* flour tortillas, which i thought might have been on clearance, are now in-stock again, on $1.25 sale (no B5S$5 this week).
it’s odd how two different, single La Banderita items have been on steep sales plus mix-and-match recently. but multiple store locations are involved, based on website search, so it’s not INSANELY flukish/narrow.
i’ll give at least 2 packs to charity — as penance for nearly clearing inventory, and because it’d take me a century to eat all these things. :P

4) an excellent Chobani Flip $5 e-giftcard offer, part of an even larger combo deal, was recently posted in a Jewel thread:
https://jillcataldo.com/coupon-matchups-jewel-osco-deals-of-the-week-1-15-20-1-21-20/
Mariano’s is a close contender this week:
1) $1.00 individual sale on Chobani Flips
2) $0.20 off per cup from manufacturer’s offer:
a. Mariano’s manufacturer e-coupon: “Save $2.00 when you buy TEN (10) Chobani Single Serve Yogurt or Non-Dairy Products, any variety or size”, good thru 1/29/20.
OR
b. $1-off-5 Checkout51 rebate for Chobani Single Serve products, Limit 2 , end date unknown.
OR
c. $2-off-10 in the 1/12 and 1/19 SmartSources (“single serve” and “Greek” respectively, per CouponTom) , Feb 01 expiration.
3) the $5 chobani rewards dot com e-giftcard , theoretical 3/15/20 end date
so it was my understanding that this opportunity would trail Jewel’s somewhat ($0.30/cup final price versus $0.10/cup), because the e-coupon here is *manufacturer*, versus *store* for Jewel.
however, i saw some promising in-store signage on Thursday 1/23. it’s early in the ad week, and the store was *hugely* lacking new price tags, including the $1.00 for Chobani products on the normal shelves. however, a refrigerated island has a sign saying that through Feb 4, Buying 10 Chobani items of 4 – 5.3oz with card would knock them down to $0.80 each, from their $1.00 individual sale price. only conventional Greek cups are in the island, but the size range implies that other product lines (e.g. Gimmies, Less Sugar, and Flip) are included as well. now, it’s *possible* that they’re referring to the $2-off-10 manufacturer coupon here, but that’d be horrid wording, given “coupon” isn’t even mentioned — just “with card”. so i think it’s a bulk _sale_.
if they mean what’s written, it’s $0.10/cup ridiculous final effective price again!! if not, it’s still a grand $0.30/cup! do keep in mind that the mariano’s e-coupon ends 1/29, and the CO51 rebates and the e-giftcards can be exhausted at any time.
assassin says
noticed my illiteracy belatedly: the ad and Coupon Maven’s write-up already covered the $0.80 bulk sale on Chobanis. so about all that my store island “discovery” adds is that it’s through Feb 04. (but don’t wait that long anyway!)

re #2: the full e-coupon text is:
“Save $1.00 on NABISCO Crackers
when you buy ONE (1) NABISCO Family Size Crackers, any variety (10 – 20.6oz)
Exp. Jan. 31”
it does include graham crackers.
it usually does not include cookies, with the exception of the 12-packs (on sale for $4.49 from $5.49), among those a Fig Newtons and a BelVita Bites.
here’s where it gets more interesting. in-store, there are tags to get free Oreo Bites Thins when you “buy two family size [think same size range as coupon of 10 – 20.6oz is given] Nabisco cookies or crackers”. my question is: does this deal use the same blanket categorization of “family size” discussed in my first post? that is, will conventional 13.x oz. Ritz crackers (for instance) qualify? or is the B2G1F enforcing “family size” more accurately than the e-coupon?
i ask because it’s the normal-sized stuff that’s on the superior sale, with the B5S$5. the _true_ family size stuff has less appealing values. after the Nabisco crackers, the 12-packs ($4.49 sale, Checkout51 rebates applicable to most) would be my second choice. however, these multi-packs also lack “Family Size” on the box, and the best values (e.g. the 28.8oz conventional Oreos) often exceed the proscribed 20.6oz, anyway (yet are included in that e-coupon).
wish i had my own cash register on which to experiment…

>>my question is: does this deal use the same blanket categorization of “family size” discussed in my first post? that is, will conventional 13.x oz. Ritz crackers (for instance) qualify? or is the B2G1F enforcing “family size” more accurately than the e-coupon? << This is a really good question, and unfortunately, aside from trying it out in-store, there's not going to be an effective way to answer.
assassin says
the shelf tags/stickers for the offer are down as of my Monday 1/27 visit. because there were a lot of outdated tags up on my Thursday 1/23 visit, and i don’t recall whether offer dates were given, i didn’t feel experimental enough to try it today.
assassin says
re #3: they did indeed restock the big burrito tortillas! after there being 2 left following my Thursday 1/23 looting, there were a hefty estimated 15+ at the start of my 1/28 trip! (i “bought” a sedate 2 this time.)
—–
re #4: the chobani sale tags are now up as of my Monday 1/28 trip. and the $0.80 bulk discount tags are on every $1 individual-sale-priced item EXCEPT the Flips. that is, they’re on conventional Chobani Greek (5.3oz), Gimmies (4oz), Less Sugar (5.3oz), and Less Sugar Crunch (4.5oz). they have the taller tags, with the normal price, “Low Price 1.00 with card 02/04/20” below that, then “Buy 10 or more! .80 ea final cost” below that. in contrast, the Flips have a normal height tag, with the $1.19 normal price, and “with card 02/04/20 10/10.00 sale price” to the right.
i went ahead and bought the things, since $0.30/cup is still a great deal. and indeed, there was no bulk sale discount. the only discount to come off when hitting “Finish & Pay” was the $2 manufacturer e-coupon.
so looks like that insane $0.10/cup Jewel combo deal won’t be matched anytime soon… :'(
a semi-related annoyance: despite a family member getting “Stock up on more craveworthy Chobani Flip yogurt before 03/15/2020 to get another reward.” upon their e-giftcard submission several days ago, it rejected my submission at first, on the grounds of that phone number having already been used once. (it’ll also reject you for repeating an email address.). so i had to put in a different set of digits. most people have a unique fone # for every limb these days, so it’s surmountable enough, but still a bit misleading.
Coupon Maven says
That IS misleading on Chobani’s part!

1) “$1.74 Lean Cuisine entrees
5.25-12oz. Lean Cuisine entrees are $1.99. Buy five and use the $1.25-off-5 from the 1/5 RM2 to drop these to $1.74 each.”
plus, Mariano’s is participating in the Catalina:
https://jillcataldo.com/current-national-catalina-offers-january-2020/
and a RM2 alternative might spit out of those same handy machines. one for $1-off-5 was left behind in-store with the 1/23 alert. mileage varies, of course. dunno whether it’s granted by dumb luck, and/or having bought a specific minimum quantity. so the RM2 flier is better; i’m just noting the possibility.

2) some cookie clearances:
Chips Ahoy! Chewy Brownie Filled Soft Cookies , 9.5oz = $1.95
Chips Ahoy! Reduced Fat Chocolate Chip Cookies , 13oz = $1.95
combine either of those with:
– a Checkout51 rebate for $0.75-off-1 on “Select NABISCO Cookies or Crackers”, valid on 7 oz. or larger, excludes Belvita, Oreo, and Triscuits (which each have their own rebates), Limit 5.
OR
– 01-12 SmartSource, Nabisco Cookie or Cracker Products 3.5oz or larger, $0.75 /2
Oreo Thins Mint Chocolate Sandwich Cookies , 10.1oz = $2.09
Oreo Reduced Fat Chocolate Sandwich Cookies , 14.3oz = $2.09
Oreo Winter Chocolate Sandwich Cookies , 15.35oz = $1.49
– no shelf spot for these, but i did see 2 packs sharing another Oreo’s slot, albeit with at least 1 package sounding like there was cookie breakage.
all 3 of those are subject to a couple offers:
a. 01-12 SmartSource, Nabisco Oreo Cookies Packages 10.1oz or larger , $0.75 /2
b. a different Checkout51 rebate for $1-off-2, 10.1oz or larger , Limit 5
Oreo White Fudge Covered Chocolate Sandwich Cookies , 8.5oz , $1.49
– i didn’t see these in-store (but yours might have it), and the size is too small for the coupon/rebate.
——–
3) more cookie/mix clearances, this time Keebler:
Keebler Elfin Mix Fudge Stripes Crunch Snack Mix , 6.5oz , $0.90
Keebler Elfin Mix Chocolate Lovers Snack Mix , 6.5oz , $0.75
Keebler Chips Deluxe Peanut Butter Cup cookies, 14.9oz , $0.82
the first 2 were out of stock locally, because they actually had the clearance tags up (and since mostly torn off). but the third just has a full price $3.29 tag, so multiple were in-stock!
note that all of these Keeblers are participating in the B5S$5 — sort of. that is, they WILL apply towards your “counter” of how many mix-and-match items are bought in a transaction. however, they will NOT get the $1 deduction; nor will it truncate down to the item’s price. (i tend to consider this a bug, because it means that clearance items whose shelf prices are as high as $1.74 will be CHEAPER than all of the above in a B5G$5 sale! it also means that should the B5S$5 sale morph into a B6S$3 sale [as actually happened with Nature Valleys a couple weeks ago], you’ll get a BETTER final price from a low-value mix-and-match discount than you will a high-value.)
——–
4) Private Selection Espresso Beverage cans 15 fl oz / 444 mL (Caramel, Mocha, and Vanilla) are on clearance for $0.79 locally (via custom barcoded yellow stickers). dates i checked were all plenty reasonable, as in 3+ months out.

lots of e-coupons on Annie’s products:
1) a mfg cpn for $0.50-off-2 nearly any Annie’s products (think the exclusions are salad dressings and condiments or something), expiring like 2/4.
2) 14 store cpns of various values in the “Natural and Organic 5X” event, expiring today 1/28.
one example of #2 is “Save $1.00 When you buy ONE (1) box of Annie’s Bunny Grahams, Crackers or Cookie Bites, any variety.” most of the items in this category are on sale for $2.99 (from $3.69 or $3.99), but the Organic Chocolate Bunny Grahams (7.5oz / 213g) are on close-out for $1.99. the local store has several in the normal shelf spot, and even more on a cardboard endstand at the front of the store.
