Notes on Walgreens store coupons and electronic coupons

Walgreens store coupons can be found in the monthly Instant Value Coupon (IVC) coupon book in the front of the store (small, about checkbook-sized) which comes out each month. You can also load the store coupons to your Balance Rewards card online at Walgreens' website.

You only need one Walgreens store coupon per item at Walgreens. A store coupon for $1.00 off Scope mouthwash will take $1 off every bottle you buy in the same shopping trip. Store coupons can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for additional savings.

There are also manufacturer ecoupons available to load to your card at Walgreens.com. Electronic manufacturer coupons cannot be stacked with paper manufacturer coupons.

Balance Rewards Deals

$4.25 Pampers diapers

18-32ct. Pampers jumbo pack diapers or training pants are $12.99 each. Buy $30 worth and get $7 in Register Rewards. Buy four. Use two $3-off-2 coupons from the 6/24 insert. Pay $24 and get $7 back. That's $17 for four, or $4.25 per pack!

Walgreens Balance Rewards points accrue on your Balance Rewards card when you buy featured items in the ad each week. Every 1000 points is worth $1.00. You can "cash out" (spend) your Balance Rewards points in increments of $1.00 too. If you allow your points to accrue, they are worth more toward a larger total (must use all points in the same transaction to enjoy this perk):

Notes on Register Rewards

You will only receive one Register Reward per offer per transaction. Example: A name-brand box of cereal generates a $1 Register Reward. Buying three identical boxes will not generate three $1 rewards. You cannot use Register Rewards to pay for items made by the same manufacturer. This will prevent the next set of Register Rewards from printing.

Example: I have a $1 Register Reward that I received buying Crest. If I use it to buy more Crest, the register will not generate another reward, as the first Crest reward prevents it from printing. Now, if I used a Crest Reward to buy Colgate, a Colgate Reward would print. I could then use that to buy Crest, and so on.

You can receive multiple Register Rewards in the same transaction, provided they are separate offers. I can buy a box of cereal that generates a Register Reward, a tube of toothpaste that generates a Register Reward, and a bottle of shampoo that generates a Register Reward -- all in the same transaction -- as long as they are different offers in the same ad.

Hi there! I was very excited about the diaper deal! I bought 4 packs of diapers marked $12.99 and they are currently on sale 2/$18… Bought 4 packs/$36. Only ONE $3 coupon would work though. I couldn’t find anything about coupons not applying to the same item… I did get the $7 RR, however. So I paid $33, got $7 back. $26 for 4 or $6.50/pack. Still not bad, but what did I do wrong? Thanks!!

  I don’t think you did anything wrong at all – I have had similar issues at Walgreens where the first coupon will scan and the rest won’t. If they do not scan automatically, and there are no prohibitive limits on the coupon, you should ask the cashier to manually key them in.

  I haven’t shopped at Walgreens much lately so I’m not sure if they’ve updated their registers. But in the past, I’ve had issues with coupons not scanning when I’ve purchased more than one of the same item. Instead of ringing each item separately, the cashier will scan one item and then input the quantity I’m purchasing. Example: I’m purchasing 4 of the same shampoo and it will appear as one line item with a quantity of 4. If I have 4 coupons, the first coupon will scan, but the other three will not because the register only sees one line item and the 2nd, 3rd & 4th coupons don’t have any line items to attach to. When I asked the cashier to ring each item separately, all 4 coupons scanned. If it happens again, ask the cashier to void everything and ring each item separately and see if your coupons scan.
