UPDATE: Earlier this morning, not all of the items in the deal were triggering the $5 instant savings at the register. About an hour ago, Jewel posted on Facebook that the promo had been fixed. I am back from my trip in which I bought 24 total items. The instant savings came off after every 3 items purchased. Success!
Did you see the new Jewel ad? They have a fantastic new “Buy 3, Save $5 Instantly” running on P&G items beginning tomorrow. It includes some bargain-priced items post-deal, post-coupon that you’re going to want to take home this week, like .02 Mr. Clean, .04 Puffs tissues, .06 Febreze Air Effects, candles and more. All of these deals are broken out in my Jewel-Osco Deals of the Week writeup, though I’ll include the best ones in this post too.
Most of the coupons you’ll need for the deal are in the 9/1 P&G insert that came in Sunday’s paper, but some of them are also in the Home Made Simple coupon book. This is a free coupon mailer that P&G sends out to your home address a few times each year. The book is free, but you need to request the book online to receive it. (UPDATE: The books are now gone.) There’s no guarantee that the book will come before this sale ends, but it’s always a good idea to request these when they’re available as I will reference the coupons in my matchups.

I stopped at Jewel, the shelf tag said the $5 will be applied to non-P&G items. I had the ad, purchased 6 Mr. Clean , used 2 B2G1F coupons, the savings did not come off, I showed the cashier the advertisement and the cashier manually took off $10.00. I had a small non P&G purchase but it did not apply any savings to it.

I went to Jewel this morning and there were no shelf tags for the Puffs, Febreze or Mr. Clean other than the sale price. I took my cart to the Service Desk/Self Check Out and asked if they knew if the deal was stacking. She told me I was the first to ask and to give it a try. Rang up 6 boxes of Puffs and NOTHING came off. She went into the back and pulled the list of UPC’s for the sale: Dawn, Puffs, Mr. Clean, Febreze… all “details to come” on the list or not even listed. After a couple of calls to managers they decided that I should ring at self checkout in one transaction and they would take the discount manually. While not rude, you could tell the cashier was not happy that she had to take additional discounts off of my already low total. All I can suggest is be kind and be patient – it’s not their fault that corporate screwed this one up so bad…

I’m at my store right now & we saw Jewel posted on FB that they HAVE updated the UPC list to include all items. I just did 3 Puffs & the instant came off. Here’s the register screenshot (Twitter.) Multiple rounds of 3 in the same transaction DO work – I bought 24 items total in the same transaction.

I saw it commented somewhere that this ‘deal’ was a misprint on someone’s part (either Jewel or P & G). Is it an error or a legit deal-I’m almost a little scared to try it!!??
