Whenever I teach a Super-Couponing 2 class, inevitably someone will ask how to save money on oil changes. Easy… do it yourself! This deal comes courtesy of my wonderful father, who taught me to change the oil at a young age and is always on the hunt for great deals on synthetic, which we both use in our vehicles and can be pricey in the absence of a deal.
Dad spotted a $50 mail-in rebate for a case (12 quarts) of Valvoline VR1 Racing Synthetic Motor Oil posted on Valvoline’s website. However, Dad has been scouring area stores for the racing oil and has come up empty — nobody in our Chicagoland area seems to stock it.
He found cases of Valvoline VR1 on Amazon.com for $62.97 with free shipping. After the rebate, they’ll be $12.97 – that’s about $1.08 per quart, an absolute STEAL for synthetic.
Thanks Dad! And for all of the other do-it-yourself oil changers out there… enjoy!
The Valvoline must be purchased by May 31 and mailed by June 30th.

My husband is thrilled! Thanks for this one!

Deal or no deal, I can’t say I’ll be changing my own oil anytime soon (that’s why I have Wags & Jewel deals to save me $!) but I absolutely love the pic you posted. :)

My DH is thrilled too, tha’s an awesome price for synthetic!

read the fine print on the rebate details to make sure the one you’re buying is included. My DH needs the 5W30 but all they have is the ‘not street legal’ kind and that’s not included in the rebate.

Did your Dad order it? I am worried that it says it will ship in 3 – 5 weeks, unless they will count the purchase date as the date I order it.

I can’t find the $50.00 rebate for the oil? I only see a $15.00 rebate?

Tonight Dad sent over a $6 coupon for an oil change at any Valvoline full-service oil change location…

I spoke with Ashley at PFC (the company that does the rebates for Valvoline) last week and she said Amazon is approved but I did not buy the right oil! She wanted faxes of the POP etc and I explained to her that regular oil is $30 a case… not $65 which is what synthetic is priced at. I went on Vacation and found the check in my mail upon my return! I guess they were looking for the word “synthetic” in the discription. This was just too much work but I am glad I got my check after all. PFC can be reached at 800-840-2495. I hope this helps out anyone else who is given a hard time. Don’t settle for NO.
