“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations are in the process of updating their cash registers to a new system. If your store has updated to the new registers, and you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed, and the Sept. 2011 coupon policy is still correct for all stores. Watch your registers.

Taste of Home FREE Cookbook, 5-cup Rice Cooker and 12-quart Tamale Steamer P&G Promotion
Jewel is running an “A Taste Of Home” mail-in promotion on P&G products. Buy $25 worth of P&G products in one transaction and receive a 2-piece cookware set and one cookbook of your choice via mail (view ad here.)
The cookware is a 12-quart tamale steamer, a 5-cup rice cooker, and one of the following cookbooks: “Fresh Mexico,” “Latin Grilling,” or “Cocina Cubana.” $25 worth of goods must be purchased in the same transaction, and you must submit a receipt from the same store you found the forms in (must be from Jewel – cannot use a Dominick’s receipt, etc.)
The offer runs through 4/30/12. Look for the forms for this rebate in Spanish/Latino Jewel locations.
The form for this offer is online too on another store’s website. Several readers called the number on the form and were told that printable versions would be accepted.
UPDATE! On 2/11, I received my A Taste of Home package. It contained the rice cooker, the “Latin Grilling” cookbook I chose, and a note stating that due to overwhelming demand, the tamale steamer will not be available until June 2012, so it will ship separately.

Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s is also offering Deal Match, where you can load price-matching offers from Jewel and Target to your Fresh Values Card. Load these offers at www.Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also load some of these Dominick’s Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?

Through 4/21, Dominick’s is running a “Spend $75, Get $10” Catalina sale on many items in the store. (I say “many” because not everything’s included — the list of exclusions is lengthy and on the front page of Sunday’s ad. All fluid dairy products are among the excluded items.)
9-16ct. of Dentyne are on sale for .99. Buy two and use the $1-off-2 coupon from 3/4 SS. You’ll pay .98 for two, or .49 each!
2-liters of 7-Up are on sale for .99 each. Buy two and use this $1-off-2 printable. You’ll pay .98 for two, or .49 each!
All laundry detergent (50oz. 2x) is on sale for $3.99. Use the $1 coupon from 4/1 RP and pay $2.99.
The weekly Dominick’s ad has a BUNCH of Buy One Get One Free sales going on. If you’re taking part in any of these, remember two things… One, you cannot use a coupon on the SECOND item in the B1G1F sale per Dominick’s policy. This also applies if you’re trying to use a $1-off-2 coupon — you’ll actually need to buy FOUR items to use a $1-off-2. And, if you have any personalized prices on your Just For U, these deals are sweetened, because you will pay the lower, Just For U price, but get two free.
Best bet with the “Big Bogo Sale?”
– Safeway Softly 12 Double Roll Bath Tissue is on sale for $6.79, Buy One Get One Free. Buy two 12-packs, and this works out to about $3.40 per 12-double-roll pack. That works out to about .28 per roll, a GREAT price for double-roll bath tissue!
– Safeway Cooking Spray (6oz.) is $3.89, B1G1F – that’s about $1.95 per can. Not super, but okay if you need it. Price is from Safeway’s online delivery guide as there is no price in the ad.
– Vogue Organix Hair Care (13oz. shampoo or conditioner or 3.3oz. serum) is $6.49, B1G1F. That’s about $3.25 each, a decent price for these in the absence of other deals.
Waterfront Bisto Ready-to-Bake fish fillets (12oz.) are $7.99, B1G1F. $4 each is a decent price for these.
(Yes, that’s it. Everything else in the ad seems high to me.)
Kettle Potato Chips (8-8.5oz.) are on sale for $3. Use the $1 coupon from 3/18 RP and pay $2! (Check your Just For U prices too. I have Kettle Chips at $1.49, so they’ll be .49 after the deal… and they’re yummy.)
If you have a good personalized price on Just For U for Safeway Select 1.5qt. Ice Cream, the Safeway Select ice cream is currently involved in a B1G1F sale. Buy one 1.5qt. Safeway Select and get one FREE Open Nature Greek Frozen Yogurt or Ice Cream 1.5qt! I have a personalized price of $1.98 for the Safeway Select, so this is a STEAL!
If you do not have a personalized price, Safeway’s online delivery guide is showing the Safeway Select priced at $3.99. So, you’d pay that for two, or about $2 each. Still a good price if you need ice cream!

If you do not have the 3/11 coupons, the 4/1 PG has a $1-off-2.
Meijer’s “10 For $10, Get the 11th Item FREE” sale is back! As always, buying 11 included items will cost you $10, with the last item free. Note that because you cannot use a coupon on a free item at Meijer, you also cannot use a coupon on the 11th FREE item. The register determines which items are free by the order in which they are scanned, so for your 11th, make sure that the item going across the scanner is a non-coupon item.
Best bets?

If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecoupons
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
The current ad is good through TUESDAY, April 17th.
2-liters of Diet Pepsi are on sale for $1. Use the .55 coupon from 3/18 SS, which doubles up to $1, and it’s FREE!

Zatarain’s Rice Mixes (5.7-8oz.) are on sale for $1. Buy two and use the .50-off-3 coupon from 4/15 RP or 2/5 RP. The coupon doubles to $1, and you’ll pay $2 for three, or about .67 each.

If you need toilet paper, Target’s Charmin deal isn’t terrible this week (though, per roll, Dominick’s has the best bets through Wednesday. At Target, 24ct. double roll or 12ct. mega roll (triple) bath tissue is on sale for $12.99. Buy it and get a FREE 40ct. tub of Charmin Freshmates wipes. Use the .25 coupon from 4/1 PG. You’ll pay $12.74 and get a free tub of wipes.
For the double roll, this works out to about .53 per roll. I like to stay at .50 or less, but you are getting the Freshmates with this deal too, so it’s a little bit better.

You get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit or debit card, you receive another 5% off.

CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

In addition to the J4U price of $1.49 for Edge/Skintimate shave gel, look in your J4U coupon center for a $1 off coupon for Edge shave gel. Makes it even better: .49 cents! But check your receipt: my $1 coupon came off, but the shave gel was ringing up at the sale price of $1.99. Took my receipt and print out to CS, and they took care of it.

The Pillsbury “Easter” cookie dough on clearance for 99 cents (free with $1q from 3/25 SS, I think) would be great for a kid’s party or play date! The ready-bake cookies (24 pack) have pictures of Lightning McQueen or Minnie Mouse on them—not “Easter-y” at all! I bought a few and popped them in the freezer.
