“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations are in the process of updating their cash registers to a new system. If your store has updated to the new registers, and you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed, and the Sept. 2011 coupon policy is still correct for all stores. Watch your registers.
DOUBLER COUPONS ARE BACK AT JEWEL!
Jewel’s Sunday ad contains five “Doubler” Twice The Value coupons which will double the value of one of your manufacturer coupons. You may double anything up to $1 in value (i.e., a .50 coupon will double to $1, and a $1 coupon will double to $2.) (You can also print the coupons — Jewel has posted them on Facebook. You get 5 prints at the link.)
Here in the “land of no doubles,” I LOVE seeing this promotion come back around! Here are some of the best deals I see for the new Doubler promotion at Jewel:

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecoupons
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
The current ad is good through TUESDAY, May 1st.
This week, Schnuck’s stores are doubling coupons up to $1.10! You can double 20 coupons per day, 3 like coupons per item. A .50 coupon will double to $1, a $1 coupon will double to $2, and if you find that oh-so-rare bird, the $1.10 coupon, it will double to $2.20.
Reader Saver21 has already been hard at work on a list of double coupon matchups for this sale, hitting Hilander (I’m guessing) numerous times already..! Big, big thanks to Saver 21 for many of the following:

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

I just wanted to let you know that the Schnucks in Dekalb is doubling this time around, the ad came out in the local free paper this week and had the promo listed. The last few times they have had the triples they have participated and must be trying the doubles to see how it goes. My only complaint is I wish I was a little closer to the Schnucks here, it is so far out of my way!

Better to do this deal at Jewel. It’s 2 for $7 which makes it $3.50, using the $1 Facebook printable and a doubler coupon, it’ll be $1.50.

If I am reading the fine print right on the double coupons then if you have a coupon that is over $1 for example $2 off of something, Jewel will give you another $1 off if you use a double coupon. It says “manufacturercoupons valued at over $1 will be matched by $1.”

I purchased similar Lucerne items this weekend and noticed I did not get a Catalina. I checked in the fine print on the Dominick’s Ad Lucerne Milk is not included in this offer. You must buy $10 or more in Lucerne products to generate the Catalina. Thank you for all the advice and for getting the deals prepared for each week. Great job Jill! Great website! Keep up the great work and I know you are helping many shoppers in this tough economy put food on the table for less.

I just got back from the Dominick’s at Lincoln & Foster. Customer Service said that they got an email this morning from corporate, stating that they could not except my free Coke product coupons. I was told that someone is making fake coupons, and they just could not be sure which ones were real and which were fake so that couldn’t take them. This is just for free Coke products. They will still honor other free product coupons. Guess my next call is to corporate.

Big problems doubling in Downers Grove! I bought 2 pizzas and had my 2 $1 MQ’s and 2 doublers. (had other items too). They would not take q’s on the “free” item! The manager was called over and I eventually talked her into taking the MQ on the “free” pizza (per written Jewel policy about Q’s on free items), but she was NOT taking the doubler on the free pizza! I told her the pizza was not free as I was still paying $5 for 2 pizzas! She said its right on the doubler q that “total coupon redemption cannot exceed the price of the item” and the item cost $0.00. I am really mad about this $1! So is this true, or is she just misinformed in which case I will take the survey on my receipt and give her what for!

Still did very well thanks to this blog other than this hiccup my lovely long receipt went from $196.07 to $140.27 +$5 in Cats +$2 on Saving Star; thus meeting the grocery budget for 5 this week.
Thank you,

Can anyone help me here…I just left the jewel in Bartlett after trying to do the speed stick deal… I was told by two separate people that as of yesterday you must buy three speed sticks for the B1G1.. I went to the service desk and was told the same thing.. My husband bought the speed stick last night with no problem. Anyone else have any issues, or is it a store by store case?

I have had success at the Batavia Jewel and the St. Charles and Elburn Jewel’s. They understand that the coupon is paying for one and the store is paying for the other with the deal. That is too bad that the clerks don’t understand the stated coupon policy of the store. The Elburn Jewel has one young clerk that is the “Coupon Police” and she believes every printed coupon to be a fraudulent copy and makes it her job to make couponing customers uncomfortable.- I have found the opposite reaction at the St. Charles Jewel, where the clerks are friendly and even helpful and happy to see you do well.

Does anyone know of places where you can post coupons you would like to trade or are in search of? I always have all the pet, baby and lots of other coupons available. I am looking to trade any type of coupons for the Skinny Cow coupons in 4/29 SS. I can’t seem to remember the name of a site that had trade and ISO listings I used in the past.

Went today to do 5 more double coupons at Jewel as this is the last day. But the stuff I wanted was picked over so I could only come up with four coupons to match my products. Anyway, as I as checking out I read the wording on the coupon. Since it works with manufacturer copupons I asked if I could use it on my $1 CAT from earlier in the week. The cashier checked with the manager and said YES!!! Wow!!
