Get set for another week of great deals! A big welcome to our new Super-Couponers from this past week’s classes in Glenwood/Lynwood and Woodridge, and of course the many listeners from Johnny B’s show as well… (we’re taking a break from the radio segment this week, so the only place you’ll find this week’s deals? Right here! :)
If you’re new to the site, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon lingo and abbreviations. Unless otherwise noted, grocery store deals run through Wednesday of this week, and the pharmacy deals run through Saturday.
And, if you’re new to couponing in general, check out my Super-Couponing website for a list of FREE coupon classes and instructions on how to start using coupons effectively!
Starting at Jewel, the big deal of the week is on HAM for Easter! This has to be the best possible way to get your ham as cheaply as possible! They have two different deals running on ham! First, spend $25 on Kraft products (see the ad scan here) and save $8 on your ham instantly. We’ll of course bring that $25 down with coupons!
Kraft salad dressing: $1.67
Use $1.50 coupon from 3/29 SS and take it home for .17..!
Seattle’s Best coffee – $5.99
$3 off Avenu
Miracle Whip or Kraft Mayo – $2.99
$1 off 2 – 3/29 SS
Jello – 3/$2
Save $1 on JELL-O when you buy any THREE boxes of JELL-O Pudding and ONE Milk
Now, these deals are already pretty good… but take a look at the cover of Sunday’s Jewel ad. There’s a coupon for $7 off your holiday ham when you spend $30 on groceries!
SO… as long as you spend $30 on groceries, $25 of which is Kraft products, you’ll get $15 off your ham! This is enough savings to get a ham for FREE or better! Here’s an example of what you could do, order-wise…
2 Seattle’s Best coffee
($11.98 toward $25)
(minus $6 for Avenu = $5.98 actual price)
1 Kraft salad dressing = $1.67, minus $1.50 coupon = .17 actual
2 Miracle Whip = $5.98, minus $1 coupon = $4.98
3 Jello = $2.00, minus $1 printable coupon = $1.00
(Note: If you have FREE milk coupons left from the Kellogg’s deal, roll them into this to pad your total up to $30 and get the milk free too!)
3 Stove Top stuffing = $3.75
You’ll be at $25.38 pre-coupon… but just $15.88 after coupons and Avenu! AND, you’ll qualify for a FREE ham too!
Remember, if you don’t have a coupon for free milk to roll into this, add enough other items to get to $30 pre-coupon so that you can use the additional $7 ham coupon as well.
AND, if you like beer, there’s a ham/beer deal going too! Purchase one Miller 12-pack or larger ($12.99) and you can use a $3 off Ham store coupon available in the meat department. Save even more!
Now, if you missed the free milk and Kellogg’s deal there’s still time to get in on it. Frosted Flakes are on sale for $2 a box. Use
$1 off 2 Frosted Flakes (print 2)
$1 off 2 Frosted Flakes (print 2)
Remember you can print 2 from each site! That should give you 8 coupons to play with, if you would like that many. Using these coupons will bring each pair of boxes down to $3 each, or $1.50 a box. Not a great price, but what makes this deal even better? The FREE MILK promotion that’s running along with this deal on select Kellogg’s cereals…
Buy 3 boxes get 1 free gallon of milk
buy 5 boxes get 2 free gallons of milk
buy 7 or more get 3 free gallons of milk
So, figure out how much cereal you would like, and get some free milk with it too! When you figure the price of the milk in, this deal gets MUCH better. :)
Still at Jewel, the Tropicana orange juice deal continues, at an even better price than last week! It’s $2.50 a carton. Buy 4 cartons, and you’ll get a coupon on your receipt for a FREE carton on your next trip… as well as a Catalina for a FREE carafe of Simply Orange orange juice too!
We’re of course going to make this better with coupons! Clip these:
1/4 RP – $1 off 2 Tropicana Pure Premium
3/15 RP – $1 off 1 Tropicana Trop50 (50% less sugar)
Buy your 4 cartons, and use these coupons. You’ll pay $6 for your 4 Tropicanas… you’ll get coupons at checkout for a 5th carton of free Tropicana! What’s even better? At many Jewel locations you’ll also get a Catalina for a free carafe of Simply Orange! That’s 6 orange juices for $6… a very good price :) Note: You MUST do this one at the regular (not self-check) lane to get the coupon for the free Tropicana.
(Note: The Simply Orange promo varies by store. This post contains info on where it’s working and isn’t, so we can help each other scout out the best places to buy.
Still at Jewel, there’s a pretty good deal going on dog treats! Hartz Crunch and Clean dog treats are on sale for $2.99 a box. Use the $1 coupon from 4/5 SS and save a dollar… plus, when you check out, you’ll get a Catalina coupon good for 1 free box of Milk Bone dog treats, up to $4.99 value! 2 boxes of dog treats for under $2 is a steal!
Over at Walgreens, 100% Naturals Chapstick is on sale for $1.99. When you buy it, you get a $1.99 Register Reward, making your Chapstick FREE!
A similar deal’s also running on Skintimate shaving gel and Edge shaving gel. Pay $2.99 for a can and get a $2.99 RR. It’s like getting it for FREE!
Still at Walgreens, if we didn’t get enough free toothbrushes and dental flosses a couple weeks ago, here are MORE! Buy 1 Reach Ultraclean toothbrush and 1 Reach Ultraclean floss at $2.50 each. Use the $3 off 2 coupon from 3/15 SS. Pay $2 for both — and get $2.50 in Register Rewards! They’re paying YOU .50 to take home a new toothbrush and roll of floss!
And over at CVS, the same deal is running on Skintimate shaving gel there too (dry or extra-gentle varieties.) Buy a can at $3.49 and get a $3.49 ECB! This will be a great week to stock up on shaving gel :)

I did the ham deal today.
Bought a $19.29 ham
less $7 clipped ham coupon
less $3 Miller coupon 12pk bottles
less $8 off with $25 purchase of Kraft products
Final cost of ham $1.29
But it’s even better the Sunday paper has a mail in rebate for the ham up to $20 when you purchase $40 of Unilever products (can be multiple purchases). So I bought $17 of Unilever products today and will finish the rest next week or so.
They are paying us to take home a ham! The best deal yet.
(I found out that the $25 Kraft deal is after preferred prices the shelf price doesn’t work; I made a mistake and had to go to customer service for the additional $8 discount they were really nice and gave me cash money; they weren’t sure what went wrong, the $8 is supposed to come off automatically.)

If I remember correctly, the coupon from 3/15 SS is $3 off when you purchase 3.
There is a coupon for $1.50 when you buy 2 in that same 3/15 SS, so it is still only $1 for a toothbrush and floss. (in the Walgreens “Diabetes & You” magazine available at the pharmacy, there are more coupons for the floss/listerine/toothbrush $.50 off 1, $1.50 off 2, $3.00 off 3)

In 4/5RP there is a $1/1 kelloggs cereal coupon.

When I tried this on Sunday, no RR printed when I tried to buy the old 7 oz. container. When I purchased a new 6 oz. container yesterday it printed. You might want to buy the new container (sloped sides) just to be sure.

I’ve done the edge and chapstick deal many times….the rr is for $3 on the edge and $2 on the chapstick. Another freebie there this week is the Colgate Total toothpaste. It is $3.49, get a $3.49 rr back. Use your .75 coupon (3/29SS) and this deal is a money maker!

Walgreens also has Mentos gum on sale for $2/2, use the recent (sorry I don’t know the date) coupon from insters for $1/1 making it free!

I took advantage of this deal on Sunday and it printed out 2 $1.00 catalinas for buying 2 Seattle Bests coffee. I went back yesterday to buy just the Seattles Best – it is on sale for $5.99 each and on my avenue there is $3.00 of each bag with a limit of 2 per transaction. So each bag came to $2.99 then it printed out to of the $1.00 catalinas so actually it was like getting the coffee for $1.99bag pretty good deal!

Dear Jill,
I found a Hormel always tender product $1.00 off on the 2/8 SS
is this the coupon you are refering to for the ham? I went thru the insert and this is the only coupon that I found…it doesn’t state Ham on it and it expired on 4/4/09 — is there anothe coupon you are refering to on the deal? Thanks,

For the shaving gel – I know at Walgreens, you can’t roll the register reward and you probably only get one register reward no matter how many you buy in one transaction. (You would have to buy one, get the RR, go back, buy another, get another RR…)
But for CVS-can you roll the ECB? I’ve never tried it and couldn’t find anything in the boards. Or if I buy two, would I get $6.98 in RR?
Thanks!

Hi,
I printed out a couple of these coupons, but neither Dominick’s nor Jewel would take them because there is no bar code on the coupons. I think I printed from SS and/or RP online — has anyone else had this problem? It’s a good deal!
Thanks.

For anyone who drinks Miller beer, (moi?) don’t you think $12.99 for a 12 pack is expensive? Even with the $3 coupon off the 12 pk, it would still be $9.99. A sale price for Miller Lite in bottles is usually $7.99…..so I would skip that part of the deal for the ham. I did do the ham deal today by the way….ended up costing $3.81 for an $18.81 ham. Thanks to all who posted their ideas for items to buy in order to get the $15 off!!!!!

I was actually following Jill’s link from this week’s deals; Smart Source and Red Plum used to have the coupon, but I don’t think it’s there now.
Thanks for looking.

If you got your Sunday Trib paper there was a skinny coupon insert for Unilever products. Right inside the first page there is a mail in rebate form for up to $20 for the ham you buy. You can buy your ham anywhere, I bought mine at Jewel because of the great deals.
To qualify for the $20 rebate you have to buy $40 of Unilever products pre-coupon: https://www.unilever.com/brands/
(use coupons for that insert to lower your cost)

Dear very smart & pretty Jill Cataldo!
I’m wondering if I could do this? I bought a $23 Ham and saved $18 from Jewel’s sale. Now if I start buying $40 worth of Unilever products on my next trips to stores between 4/1 – 4/30/09 do you think I could also get the $20 rebate on this Ham I bought yesterday and also got the $18 off at Jewel too? Do you think I can do this???? Thank you for everything! I cannot wait to see you 4/18 for the Coupon 2 class! Laura
kimpy says
thanks Jill for the info on dog treats…did this deal yesterday and got my coupon for the free milk bones…
How do you find out about these deals that aren’t advertised in the paper? are they from previous catalina alerts?
thanks for all you do!!!!!

Can you purchase multiple boxes of dog treats and get multiple cats in the same transaction? Or am I limited to one per transaction? Lots of puppies want to know….. :)
linj says
just a silly question, can you use the pork/char 6.00 deal in addition to the 8.00 off kraft, 7.00 off ham?
supercoup12 says
Parlay the beer deal with Miller’s mail in rebate – $5 for a 12 pack.

Does anyone know how long the promo is going for the Milk Bone Cats?
