“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations are in the process of updating their cash registers to a new system. If your store has updated to the new registers, and you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed, and the Sept. 2011 coupon policy is still correct for all stores. Watch your registers.
HAM DEALS: Jewel has coupons for $10 off any brand bone-in, spiral, shank or butt portion ham with a separate $25 purchase. You must reach $25 not including the ham’s price, and after ALL coupons.
However, a better way to do ham deals this week at Jewel would be to use the Dominick’s ham coupon in their ad. The Dominick’s coupon is good for any Safeway spiral, bone-in, whole, shank half or rump half hams and is $10 off a $25 purchase, but their coupon does NOT exclude coupons, nor is it a “separate” $25 purchase (meaning, the price of the ham can help you get to $25.)
Jewel will accept this coupon under the “Competitor Store Coupon” portion of their coupon policy. If you plan to utilize this though, keep in mind that you will have to buy a Jewel-brand ham, not any other brand.
2012 FREEZER DEAL participants: Fisher Dry Roasted Peanuts (14oz.) are on sale Buy One Get One Free. Use the coupon for one FREE jar from the freezer coupons and get TWO free!
Birds Eye Steamfresh frozen vegetables (10-16oz.) are on sale for $1. Buy three and use the $1-off-3 coupon from 3/4 RP. You’ll pay $2 for three, or about .67 each! Or, buy two and use the .50-off-2 coupon from 4/1 SS. You’ll pay $1.50 for two, or .75 each.
Yoplait Kids Yogurt or Splitz (4ct.) is on sale for $2. Buy two and use the .75-off-2 coupon from 3/11 SS. You’ll pay $3.25 for two, or about $1.63 each.
Wisk Laundry Detergent (50oz.) is on sale for $4.99. Use the $2 coupon from 3/25 RP and pay $2.99!
Palermo’s Primo Thin Crust pizzas (14.5-19.1oz.) are on sale for $5. Use the $1 coupon from 3/25 SS or a printable and pay $4!
Fisher Boy breaded seafood (18-24oz. fish sticks, tenders) are on sale for $5.69, Buy One Get One Free. The 2/5 SS has a $1 coupon. With two coupons, pay $3.69 for two, or $1.85 each! (If you need a second coupon to do this deal, Fisher Boy’s site has a .75 printable too.)
Before you do the deal, check out this page of Fisher Boy’s site too… they have a Deal of the Day ongoing promo that offers a FREE product coupon when you buy Fisher Boy! Add that into the mix too, and you’ll have 2 Fisher Boy plus a free item, all for $3.69. At the time of this writing, the free item is a bottle of ketchup. The last time this deal came around, I got a coupon for free applesauce, so you never know what you can get!

“Spend $30, Get $10 off your next Baby Purchase” Catalina Sale Buying $30 worth of the following items will generate a $10 Catalina! Note that the ad does state that the $30 is calculated after all manufacturer coupons. (SavingStar ecoupons do not count against you toward the $30.) Here are your products and matchups: Baby Basics Big Pack Diapers (64-96ct. boxes) – $14.99 Beech-Nut Fruities on the go pouches (4oz.) – .89 Earth’s Best 2nd Jars (4oz.) – .79 Gerber 2nd Foods (2ct. 3.5) – $1.11 Happy Tot Stage 4 pouches (4.22oz.) – $1 Huggies Jumbo Pack Diapers – $10.49 Huggies Wipes (184-216ct.) – $6.29 Johnson’s Baby Care (shampoos, lotions 6.5-20oz.) – $2.99 Pampers Jumbo Pack Diapers – $10.49 Playtex Cups, Bottles or Drop0Ins Liners (1-50ct.) – 15% off Wet Ones Canisters or Singles (24-40ct.) – $2.69 EASIEST DEAL: Buy two Baby Basics diaper boxes AND one Earth’s Best jar food ($30.77) Use the $1-off-2 SavingStar ecoupon. Get a $10 Catalina back for your next baby purchase. Pay $20.77 for everything – it’s like knocking the big boxes to about $10 each. Look too on the boxes for coupons – my store had peelies on them for $1 off Baby Basics. I am not sure if they are store or manufacturer coupons though as I didn’t want to peel them off the boxes..! If they are store, they won’t count against you toward the $30. If they are manufacturer, make sure you are still over $30 post-manufacturer-coupon. |
I’m skipping the P&G Catalina again this week. If you decide to do it, it is a “Spend $20, get $5.” The $20 is calculated AFTER manufacturer coupons, and the coupons are in the new 4/1 PG. As with last week, some Pepsi products and beverages are included here.
One brighter spot – if you want to do an all-diet Pepsi deal, the Diet Pepsi 2-liters are on a nice double-dip with this offer. Between 4/5/12 and 8/29/12, spend $20 on Diet Pepsi with the same Jewel-Osco Preferred card and get a $2 Catalina.
SO… if you just went coupon crazy on 3/18 SS, the week those nice .55 Diet Pepsi coupons were in the paper, you could do this whopper of a deal…
Diet Pepsi is on sale for $1.11. Buy 19 bottles ($21.09.)
Use as many .55 coupons as you have. But, for every two coupons you use, add enough Pepsi to the cart so that your post-coupon total can still stay over $20..!
For example, let’s say you have four .55 coupons. After coupons, you’ll be at $18.89, so you’ll need to add another bottle of Pepsi to get back to an even $20. Now you’re at 20 bottles for $20.
Pay $20 for 20 bottles and get a $5 Catalina and a $2 Catalina. That’s $13 for 20 bottles, or .65 each.

Taste of Home FREE Cookbook, 5-cup Rice Cooker and 12-quart Tamale Steamer P&G Promotion
Jewel is running an “A Taste Of Home” mail-in promotion on P&G products. Buy $25 worth of P&G products in one transaction and receive a 2-piece cookware set and one cookbook of your choice via mail (view ad here.)
The cookware is a 12-quart tamale steamer, a 5-cup rice cooker, and one of the following cookbooks: “Fresh Mexico,” “Latin Grilling,” or “Cocina Cubana.” $25 worth of goods must be purchased in the same transaction, and you must submit a receipt from the same store you found the forms in (must be from Jewel – cannot use a Dominick’s receipt, etc.)
The offer runs through 4/30/12. Look for the forms for this rebate in Spanish/Latino Jewel locations.
The form for this offer is online too on another store’s website. Several readers called the number on the form and were told that printable versions would be accepted.
UPDATE! On 2/11, I received my A Taste of Home package. It contained the rice cooker, the “Latin Grilling” cookbook I chose, and a note stating that due to overwhelming demand, the tamale steamer will not be available until June 2012, so it will ship separately.

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecouponsThe Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
The current ad is good through TUESDAY, April 10th.

CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. I received a package from P & G for the Taste of Home promotion. I was a little sad that didn’t get the book I wanted (received the Latin Grilling) and of course I will receive the steamer an tamale steamer and rice cooker later. HOWEVER, they sent a $10 amazon gift card to make up for the book I didn’t receive. I was happy. I found a Mexican cookbook on Amazon.
Can’t wait for the tamale steamer and rice cooker!

Also 1 lb strawberries $1.29 at aldi, also can pm at Walmart.

Coupon Mom says
I went Tuesday to the Meijer’s in McHenry. Price on the Heluva dip is $1.50 each not $1.29 and the catalina is only $1.50 for buying 3. Also, the Cary Jewel’s price for the Fisher nuts was $4.69, using the coupon for a free nut was only valued up to $3.99. So you will pay $1.69 for 2 jars of nuts instead of being free. I also accidentally printed the wrong coupon for the Jet Dry, I printed the $.50 coupon for the dishwasher cleaner, but this coupon worked when I purchased the Jet Dry. In case you need more jet dry.
Couponingtofitandfifty says
Same thing happened to me at my Jewel on the Fisher Nuts. The price was $4.69 but they only allowed the $3.99 per the coupon.
Not free nuts, but a good price for two jars.
beckie09 says
Actually if u used the fridge coupon you only paid .70 for 2 bottles of nuts. Thats stll a great deal!!
