In this week’s inserts (8/10) there is a coupon for a free can of Mighty Dog dog food. If you won’t use it, pass it along to someone who will, or donate it to a food pantry…
Over to Jewel… (note: the $20/$10 ConAgra deal has officially ended.)
Wal-Mart has Honey Bunches of Oats “Just Bunches” cereal on sale for $1.75. Print a $2 off coupon here and get some cereal that’s better than free! (Buy something else along with this to use up that extra quarter of overage.)
Also at Wal-Mart – 11-15 ounce Malt-O-Meal brand cereals are on sale for $1.00 (many varieties, including raisin bran, frosted mini wheat, honey graham.) Coupons.com and malt-o-meal.com have printable $1.00 off coupons for any Malt-O-Meal, so you can get even more free cereal!
Don’t worry if one of these coupons prints “Redeemable at Jewel Osco” on the bottom too. Just because it is redeemable there, it doesn’t mean that’s the only place to redeem it, as it’s a manufacturer’s coupon. It’s just like when a television commercial says a certain product is “available at Target.” That doesn’t mean it’s the only place it’s available.
The ConAgra Catalina at Jewel continues again this week. Buy 11 bottles of Hunt’s ketchup and after Catalina, pay 89 cents! Buy 6 boxes of Orville Redenbacher microwave popcorn, and after Catalina, pay 14 cents!
Now, a non-grocery deal. How would you like to stay at a hotel for under $10 a night? Super-8 Motels is running a promotion to celebrate 8/8/08 and as part of the promo, they’re offering hotel rooms for just $8.88 a night!
Each night from 8/8 through 8/16 at 8:00pm EST (that’s 7:00pm for those of us in Central time) Super-8 releases 800 hotel rooms at the $8.88 rate. You can book any dates through 12/30, but the rooms fill up fast, so be ready at your computer a few minutes before the site’s page opens up.
Here’s the link to reserve your $8.88 rooms! So plan a road trip, or book a location with a pool and have a cheap overnight pool party with the kids on a day when it’s cold and snowy this winter. Hotel’s don’t get any cheaper than $8.88!
Another week of cheap school supplies continues this week, with:
OfficeMax:
12″ ruler – 1 cent
2-pocket folder – 1 cent
150-sheet notebook paper – 15 cents
1″ and 1.5″ softcover binders – 30 cents
Office Depot:
Sharp Scientific Calculator – FREE after rebate
12-pack pencil erasers – 5 cents
6″ protractor – 5 cents
4-pack glue sticks – 50 cents
10-pack Crayola markers – 50 cents
(And, while I normally don’t advocate chasing store-to-store for deals, especially with gas prices being what they are, but school supplies are one of those things where if you just “skim” the best and cheapest items from each store, you can really save big. I bring my daughter’s list with me wherever I go, and if we’re near one of these stores when we’re out, I go in and just pick up the things that are dirt cheap.)
But wait… there are free Bic pens AGAIN! Grab your inserts from Sunday’s paper (yes, the 8/3 and 8/10 inserts BOTH have this coupon!) and clip the $1.00 off 2 coupon. Packs of Bic Pens are 50 cents at both Jewel and Walgreens this week, so each coupon will get you 2 free bags of pens. (You can also print 2 of this same coupon from Coupons.com and go get two more 10-packs for free! Even if you printed these before, Coupons.com reset all their coupons on August 1, so go get even more free pens! If you won’t use them all, many food pantries are also collecting school supplies, so consider donating some too!)
Here are deals from previous weeks that are still running…
Free cat treats
In the August 3 inserts, there’s a coupon for a free package of Friskies cat treats. If you don’t have a cat, pass this coupon along to someone who does – free is good!
Free bars of soap at Target!
J&J sells these wonderful little baby soaps called Buddies. They’re just 94 cents apiece at Target, but there are numerous $1 and $2 off coupons for these soaps available, making them free. You can print 2 of each of these coupons from the links and get free bars of baby soap.
$2 off 2 Johnson’s Buddies
$2 off 2 Johnson’s Buddies
$1 off 1 Johnson’s Buddies
$1 off 1 Johnson’s Buddies
$1 off any Johnson’s product

Heard you on the Jonny B radio show this morning, and decided to get the tickets by buying the cereal. This worked very well, not only did I get 9 dollars worth of milk, two tickets to the movie, but also some free yogurt. Couldn’t beat the price either. Only paid $14.00. It would have cost me $19.50 for the tickets alone at that box office.

I’m so glad it worked out for you. It’s a -really- good deal.
I didn’t mention this on the radio this morning but if you live in an area without Fandango (movie ticket redemption) you will get a $25.50 Visa gift card to use at the theater of your choice. That’s even a better value!

I don’t have some of these past coupons. Bummer! None the less…I did get the 2-shampoo, 4-kid soap, 4-bic’s, and 3-powerade, 2-chex mixes…all for FREE! Yeah for me. I’m starting to love this. Jewel wouldn’t let me use the 2 free trial item internet coupons. They said they don’t take “free” item coupons printed on the internet. Is this right?
Meijers coupons, haven’t tried yet. They did change the wording on the coupons. Printed a few days ago for the pasta, and again yesterday. It looks like only one coupon per transaction now. Does that mean I can only use one of them on the pasta…and even on the fish. The fish one is for $2.00 off/each. Its b2g2Free…If you can use more than one…it’s like $12.00[for 4] less $8.00[4coupons @$2.00/each]=$4.00

Hi TheMom – thanks for your post. First, definitely SAVE all your old coupons. Stick them in a folder someplace and hang onto them because it’s rare that they’ll match up to a sale the same week they come (though there are a few this week that do.)
Which free trial item coupons did you have? Jewel does have a policy against no “free item” internet coupons – other stores will take them though. It’s just one of those things that they do.
And you’re right about the Meijer coupons – they DID change the wording, just since yesterday. They are now one per transaction, which means you can use one of each of those coupons per transaction – and, yes, same for the fish.
(It’s unfortunate, but when they let you print as many as you want, it seemed only a matter of time before they imposed -some- limits!) You can always break your purchases into several transactions too and use a free pasta, free snacks, etc. on each trip through the lane.)

Hey…. Just so your readers know, Honey Bunches of Oats is actually $2.24 at my Walmart for the smallest box. $0.24 is still a great deal for cereal, but check the WalMart price before grabbing your “free” box. If you can spring for the $0.24, go for it!

Thanks for posting. They must have just raised the price as it was $1.97 for quite some time, including last week. Like you said — still cheap for cereal, but I’ll add a note about this.
