It’s Deal Day, Super-Couponers… live from Atlanta! I’m on a media tour to promote Super-Couponing, and while you’re out shopping the deals, I’ll be talking couponing with over 30 morning news programs and networks around the country live via satellite! A big welcome to all the new blog readers introduced to Super-Couponing via these television segments too — truly, no matter where you live, you can get incredible deals on everything from groceries to personal care products.
Each week, I blog the best deals of the week — everything FREE or cheap with coupons — for four major grocery chains, plus Target, Walgreens, and CVS Pharmacy. I’m based out of Chicago, so while my grocery deals focus on Chicagoland stores, if you shop at a SuperValu, Safeway, or Kroger-owned store elsewhere in the country, you may find similar sales to our Jewel, Dominick’s, and Hilander deals. Welcome, and enjoy!
This week’s Sunday newspaper contained one insert: SmartSource. (Next week, we’ll have 3 inserts, so watch Sunday’s paper for that great $117 P&G Brandsaver insert too!)
Now… ready for your Deals of the Week? You may enjoy .99 meatballs, .25 Right Guard deodorant, .99 (or less!) Capri-Sun 10-packs, .53 Dial hand soap, FREE Classico pasta sauce (& free meat to go with it too!) .54 Kleenex, FREE Chef Michael’s Dog Food, .99 Benadryl, FREE Listerine Zero, FREE Blink Gel Tears, .97 Gillette Fusion razors, and .24 Crest Pro-Health toothpaste… so let’s get started!

Grocery Deals
Here’s a yummy deal on Coca-Cola and Culinary Circle pizzas! (And if you’ve ever had one, you know these are the most delicious frozen pizzas..! Yum!) The deal is this… buy any 4 Coca-Cola 2 liters (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite or Coke Zero) at $1.25 each and get a FREE Culinary Circle pizza. While the price of the 2-liters is high, the end price is $5 for 4 2-liters and a pizza, so this IS a deal :) The pizzas usually sell for $4.50 each, so for .50 more you’re getting all the pop too…
12oz. packages of Mama Lucia frozen meatballs are on sale for .99 — this is a GREAT price as they can run for over $4 a box at times, and that works out to $1.32/lb, a great price for any meat. Why make your own when they’re this cheap? And, they’re good meatballs too — I still have some in my freezer from the last time they were this price! :)
Xtra Laundry Detergent is a steal again too. On sale for $2 for a 44-load bottle, use the $1 coupon from 6/6 SS and take it home for just $1! That’s about .02 per load of laundry!
Scott paper towels and bath tissue aren’t bad prices this week if you need them. 6-ct. paper towels or 8-ct. bath tissue are on sale for $4.99 a package. Use the $1 coupons from 7/25 SS or August All You for bath tissue, or $1 coupon from August All You for paper towels and pay $3.99 for the multipacks.
Right Guard deodorants are on sale for $1. Use the $1.50-off-2 from 8/15 RP, buy 2 and pay .50, or .25 each!
Chicken nugget/breaded patty deal: On-Cor breaded Chicken Nibblers or patties are $1 for an 8-10oz. package — that works out to $1.60-$2.lb. depending on package size.
Along with this, the 28-32oz. On-Cor frozen family-size entrees are on sale for $3. Use this .75-off-2 coupon, buy 2, and pay $5.25 for 2, or $2.63 each…
Baby Formula Deal – Good Start baby formula is part of a Catalina deal through 9/5: Spend $40-$59.99, get a $5 Catalina. Spend $60-$79.99, get a $7.50 Catalina. Spend $80 or more, get $15. While these are some high thresholds for the deal, formula is expensive. With cans priced at $12.99 at most stores, buying 7 puts you at $90.93 and you’d get $15 back, basically getting one can a little more than free. Of course, if you have any formula checks/coupons, this will be a much better deal too.
Kleenex 78-100ct boxes are on sale for $1, and there’s a .25 coupon in the Thursday Jewel ad that will bring it to .75 a box — anything under $1 is good for Kleenex, and I know this is on lots of back-to-school lists for kids too…
There are a bunch of other manufacturer coupons on the back page of Thursday’s Jewel ad. None of these, unfortunately, are super-hot prices… now, if they had been STORE coupons, I’d be jumping..! The Skippy is $1 a jar when you buy 2 after the $1-off-2 coupon, which isn’t bad if you didn’t get it cheap during a past deal.
“Buy 5, Save $5 and donate 5 meals to Feeding America / Huddle to Fight Hunger” Catalina sale (Yes, we JUST saw one similar to this end last week, but this one’s got more products involved this time around! Buying any 5, mix or match, will generate a $5 Catalina.) If you’re a UPC list person, you’ll find that here. Here are your products and matchups. Prices shown were gathered from the Huntley Jewel. Capri Sun 10ct. – Original, Roarin’ Waters or Sunrise – $1.99 Cool Whip 5.5-8oz. – $1.67 Crystal Light 4-8ct. – $4.49 Crystal Light On the Go 10ct. – $2.99 Kraft cheese (shredded, cubed, chunk) 5.8-10oz. (shredded $4.29, cubed $3.39, chunk $3.39) Kraft Mayo 22-32oz. – $5.99 Kraft Salad Dressing 14-16oz. – $2.49 Kraft Miracle Whip 24-32oz. – $5.99 Kraft Singles 16ct. – $3.99 Oscar Mayer hot dogs 6-10ct – $3.49 Oscar Mayer Lunchables Lunch Combinations 9-12oz. Planters Snack Nuts 5.75-16oz. |
EASIEST deal here? Buy 5 Capri-Suns 10-packs. Pay $9.95 and get $5 back – that knocks your cost for 5 to $4.95, or .99 a box! If you have coupons, it’s even better.
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Athenos Hummus dips are on sale for $3.99, Buy One, Get One Free. Use this B1G1F coupon, buy two, and get BOTH free! Scheduled to run through September 22!
Mini Super-Couponing lesson: Why does this work? When you use a B1G1F coupon during a B1G1F sale, you will buy none and get two free. Here’s why… and remember, it’s important to think of your coupons AS cash. If you walk into the store and give them $3.99 in cash, how many packages of Athenos will that pay for? Two — because the store is selling you two for $3.99. Now, look at your B1G1F coupon. What is its value? Up to $5.49. Think of coupon as stating “up to $5.49 off two packages of Athenos,” and when the price of two packages of Athenos is $3.99… the coupon’s up-to-$5.49 value pays the entire price. You WILL pay tax on the pre-coupon price, as always… but both item will be free.
It’s important to note too that you do not get coupon overage with a free or B1G1F coupon when the value is “up to $5.49.” Legally, the cashier must enter the price of the first item, which in this case is $3.99. The store’s B1G1F sale makes the second item FREE. If you like learning coupon tips like these, check out my Super-Couponing workshop or DVD!
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list yet? If not, you’re missing out on some GREAT coupons! Jewel has been making coupons available for everything from meats to party trays to free bread and free produce over the past few weeks. I’m impressed with the nice coupons Jewel has been sending to their email subscribers lately & would highly recommend getting on their list if you shop there.
Jewel’s selling the Sunday Chicago Tribune for .99 through 8/29! If you need extra papers for a buck, you no longer have to chase them down at the dollar store or at Menards (though both are still excellent places to pick the Trib up cheaply.) Remember to always check the coupon bag and make sure it’s intact, as many readers have unfortunately reported rampant insert theft when buying papers on newsstands or in stores all over Chicagoland …
Coupon booklets currently found at Jewel
Fall Into Savings coupon book – $18 worth of manufacturer coupons – here’s a list of what’s inside.
Kellogg’s Fuel For School $20 coupon books – here’s a list of what’s inside.
Jewel meat deals:
- Whole chicken fryers, thighs, drumsticks or leg quarters are .99/lb.
- Kosher frozen hen turkeys are $1.79/lb.
- Fresh chicken wings or split chicken breasts are $1.99/lb.
- Fresh Italian sausage or bratwurst is $1.99/lb.
Jewel seafood deals:
- Fresh farm raised whole catfish are $3.49/lb.
Jewel produce deals:
- Baking potatoes are .49/lb.
- 1/4 and 1/2 sliced watermelon is .69/lb.
- Peaches, plums and nectarines are .99/lb.
- Red Delicious or Granny Smith apples are $1.49/lb.
(Anytime meat is under $1.99 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $1.99 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices — ditto for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less for fish or shrimp.)
Note to my Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s currently accepts expired coupons up to one year past the expiration date, so my coupon matchups for Dominick’s deals will include expired coupons. If an expired coupon matchup is provided, it will be noted with (exp) after the date. Also, in Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals.
First off, Dial hand soap pumps are on sale for .88 each. Use the .35 coupons from 8/15 RP, 6/13 RP (exp,) or 3/7 RP (exp) and pay .53 a bottle!
Reader ChicagoGirl12 spotted a good deal on Pillsbury Holiday Back-to-School Cookies. They’re on sale for $2.50 a package. Use the $1-off-2 ecoupon on Cellfire and stack it with the $1-off-2 ecoupon on ShortCuts.. Stack that with a $1-off-2 manufacturer coupon (printable, printable) and pay $2 for 2, or $1 each!
UPDATE: Several readers are reporting that if you also load the $1-off-2 ecoupons for refrigerated Pillsbury cookies from both sites… that ALL discounts are coming off two packages of Back-to-School cookies, for FREE cookies with overage..!
We’ve seen this deal before, and if you haven’t used your coupons yet for it, you’re about to enjoy FREE Classico pasta sauce! Red and Alfredo sauces are on sale for $3.49, Buy One, Get One Free. Use the B1G1F Classic coupon from 1/1o SS (exp) and get TWO jars free! If you also have the “Buy 2 Classico, get $1.50 off fresh beef” coupon from 3/14 SS, work that into the deal too and get some FREE meat!
Wacky Mac tri-color pasta is on sale for .99. Use the .50 coupon from 5/16 SS and pay .49! If your insert collection goes way back, the 5/10/09 SS (exp) has a .75 coupon, which makes this .24 a bag! This deal runs through 9/15/10.
Betty Crocker Premium brownie mix is on sale for $2 a box. Use the .75-off-2 ecoupon from Cellfire, and load another .75-off-2 ecoupon from Shortcuts, and stack these with a .75-off-2 manufacturer coupon from 8/8 GM, 6/27 SS (exp,) 2/7 GM (exp,) or a printable, printable, printable. You’ll pay $1.75 for two, or .88 each!
Old El Paso taco shells are on sale for .99. Load the .60-off-2 ecoupon from Cellfire, and load another .60-off-2 from Shortcuts. If you buy 4, you’ll pay $2.76 for 4, or .69 each! Buy 2 and both may be FREE! (I say “may” because some readers have reported issues recently of not getting BOTH ecoupons deducted if they exceeded the cost of the item, but you can certainly try.)
“Spend $12, Save $4” Ice Cream Catalina sale Buying $12 worth of the following products will generate a $4 Catalina! Here are your products and matchups: Edy’s 1.5qt. ice cream – $3.50 Edy’s Dibs 60ct. Edy’s Dibs Family Pack 140ct. Edy’s Fruit Bars 6-12ct. Edy’s Fruit Bar Minis 24ct. As usual, there are Dominick’s Super Coupons* in this week’s ads too. These are store coupons, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. Best bets?
- Chef Boyardee cans or bowls of pasta are .88 each with Super Coupon. There are quite a few coupons out to knock this down — the .40 off 1 microwavable bowl coupon from 1/10 SS (exp) will knock this to .48 – the $1-off-4 coupon from 3/14 SS (exp) will bring your total for 4 to $2.52 for 4, or .63 each.
- Nestle refrigerated cookie dough is $1.99, limit 4, with Super Coupon. Use the $1 manufacturer coupon from 8/22 SS or a printable and pay .99!
- Kleenex tissues are .79 each, limit 1, with Super Coupon. Use the .25 manufacturer coupon from the current Jewel ad and pay .54.
- Knorr Rice and Pasta Sides (bagged pouches) are on sale for .88 each, limit 10, with Super Coupon. If you received the Spanish SmartSource insert from 5/2 SS [not all areas received this] there’s a manufacturer coupon inside for .45 off any Knorr product. With this coupon, pay .43 each. The 5.23 RP (exp) has a $1-off-3 manufacturer coupon too, and the 1/31 RP (exp) has a .60-off-2.
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
“Spend $25, get $10 for the Gift Card Mall” Procter and Gamble Catalina sale Note that the Catalina you get must be spent at the DOMINICK’S Gift Card Mall (kiosk in store) and cannot be spent on a Safeway/Dominick’s gift card. The Catalina produced is also a store coupon, so unlike the last Gift Card Mall Catalina, you can’t take it to Jewel and get a Jewel gift card with it (as many did with their Gift Card Mall manufacturer Catalina from the last Jewel gift card deal, converting it to a Dominick’s gift card.) If you want to convert it back to something close to “cash,” your best bet is a Shell gasoline card.) Honestly, if not for the exception of being able to use expired coupons on this sale, this deal would be a yawner. Many other blogs are sitting this deal out too due to the gift card “force.” But if you’d like to go for it… read on. I collected prices and products for this at the Lake in the Hills and Carpentersville locations. Other sites are welcome to repost this list if JillCataldo.com is credited. Thank you! Also note: The Catalina alert that’s printing for this sale also shows some Duracell, Iams, Mr. Clean, and Oral B brand products, but after visiting two different Dominick’s stores and finding none of these brands tagged for the sale, I did not list them in my matchups, because I had no way of knowing which items were actually included. If you find tags on these brands and would like to post products/prices in the Comments, I’ll add matchups for them. Again, NOTE THAT PRICES CAN VARY AT YOUR STORE. One reader has already written to say that their local store has Old Spice body wash at a different price. Always, always verify that you’re over the $25 mark before coupons! There’s a little deal running on Almond Breeze almond milk and cereal. Buy ANY one box of cereal AND Almond Breeze (which is on sale for $3.29 at most stores) and get a $3 Catalina. Use a $1 coupon from 5/23 SS or from current coupon dispensers at Jewel or a printable to knock down the price of Almond Breeze to $2.29, and it’s even better!
This deal is scheduled to run through 8/31. Almond milk lovers, have fun — but remember to split your transactions up with cereal/almond milk, as I am hearing it does not stack up (buying 2 does not generate $6 in Catalinas, etc.)

- 5lb. boxes of Clementines are $5.77
*A note on Dominick’s Super Coupons:
What does “minimum $10 (or $20) purchase required” mean? To use store coupons that include a minimum purchase requirement, you must spend a minimum dollar amount on that shopping trip. You will reach the minimum purchase amount based upon total purchases after your Club Card discount is applied. For example, the regular retail price of a box of Cheerios (after Club Card discounts) will count toward the minimum purchase required in order to use the Cheerios coupon.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals of the week for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:
“No Coupon Needed” deals…
Mejer eggs are .88/dozen…
Meijer apple juice is on sale 3/$4, or $1.33 a bottle — anytime bottled juices are under $1.50, this is a cycle low, and it’s stock-up time… plus Meijer’s store brand apple juice is not from concentrate and made with Michigan apples… it’s delicious and my favorite store-brand juice!
Meijer meat deals:
- Fresh Grade A bone-in split chicken breasts are .99/lb.
- Center cut half boneless pork loin is $1.49/lb. – great price
Meijer produce deals:
- Cabbage is .25/lb.
- Zucchini, eggplant salad cucumbers or green beans are .69/lb.
- Vine-ripened or Roma tomatoes are .88/lb.
- Yellow and white-flesh peaches, nectarines, pluots, Midnight Moon, Sunrise Red or Starless Ruby plums are all .99/lb.
- 3lb. bags of Paula Red apples are $2
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES Meijer location, they haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the store is newer, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.
For my Rockford-area shoppers (and Kroger shoppers too!) here are your Hilander sales for the current week…

FREE Chef Michael’s Dog Food! There’s a coupon in the new 8/22 SS for a FREE 3-ounce can of Chef Michael’s Dog Food! If you won’t use this, pass it along to someone who will… or pick it up and donate it to a food pantry (most take pet supplies too) or an animal shelter…
Mott’s Apple Juice 64-ounce bottles are $2.04 each this week. If you have any of the Dominick’s $39 coupon books, there’s a $2-off-2 Motts applesauce OR juice coupon inside. With this, buy 2 and pay $1.04 a bottle! OR… take those coupons to Walgreens, where it’s even cheaper!
Deals continuing from previous weeks:

Here’s a good deal on Axe body products. Axe gift sets are on sale for $6.99 each at Target. The gift sets include either 3 body sprays, 2 shampoos (large and small sizes) or shower gel & detailing tool. When you buy 2, you’ll get a $5 Target gift card! Let’s add coupons…
– $1.50 off shower gel gift set – 8/1 RP
– $1 off shower gel gift set – 8/1 RP
With these two coupons, buy 2, pay $11.48 and get a $5 gift card — that drops the price to $6.48 for 2, or $3.24 each. With two $1.50 coupons, pay $10.98 and get $5 – $2.99 a set.
AND… if you use Target’s mobile coupons, there’s a bonus $1 Target store coupon to stack! With that, you’d pay $9.98 for two and get $5 = $2.49 each.
This is an unadvertised sale, so scan your Axe gift sets at the price scanner to see the details of the gift card promo. If the item you’re buying is included, the price scanner will show it as a qualifying item for the deal.
Sale runs through August 28th.
The Big Swiffer Deal – LAST WEEK as Target $3 coupon expires 8/30!
(This deal’s legendary! If you hold your coupons and play them right, it’s always cheaper to buy a Swiffer and a refill than buying the Swiffer or the refill alone. I’ve done this deal numerous times over the past few years in one form or another…)
You’ll need the Target store coupon for $3 off the Swiffer Starter Kit from the 6/27 Target insert (some editions of the Tribune did not receive this insert) and the “Buy a Swiffer Sweeper starter kit, get a FREE refill coupon from the Home Made Simple: Decor Done Right coupon book.
Buy a Swiffer Sweeper starter kit ($8.99 at most stores.) Your $3 coupon knocks this down to $5.99. Now, get the LARGEST Swiffer refill you can find, as the coupon does not specify a size or quantity for your refill. (I like the 36-count Swiffer wet floor wipes, which usually sells for $14! It comes in a large cardboard “case” as opposed to the plastic tubs, and I’ve only seen this size at Target.) Pay $5.99 for the Swiffer AND the wipes — that’s cheaper than buying the wipes alone.
Target has launched mobile Target coupons which you can load to your phone. They are Target store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with. Load coupons here. You can also print these offers by going to www.target.com/save and entering your phone number.
Remember too that you get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use!

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Thank you Jill for the early posting and the Kraft coupons!
If the Jewel pricing on Kraft blocks and shredded are $3.39 and above before the buy $5 get $5, then Target is cheaper on those because they are both on sale for $2 (blocks and shredded), according to the ad, then we could use the coupons to make them $1.5 each.
Also, by the way, the Atheno hummus Q expires on 9/20. Awesome deal.

Thanks again Jill for giving us the best scenarios for the catalina deals!! If people want to mess around with other scenarios, I’ve upgraded my website so that the calculator works for these kind of quantity-based deals at Jewel too. Granted, it’s a lot easier to do the quantity-based deals in your head. But, in case you want it….

Went to Dominick’s in Oswego this afternoon and had a difficult time finding the right sizes.
The root touch up was not marked as part of the deal and was marked $6.99 each. I may go back and get them as I found a $5 off 2 coupon that I could stack with the $5 e-coupon.
Also the $6.99 sizes of the Charmin (12 double roll) and Bounty (8 rolls) were the only sizes that said they were included in the spend $25 get $10. Anyone near Oswego find the correct sizes in a Doms nearby?
Also none of the Kleenex or Clorox wipes were marked with the spend $15 and get $5 and the cust service people had no clue about that one. I didn’t take the chance and just bought the $1 ones – two of the rang at the $.79 with the super coupon.

quick question…at jewel – the buy 5, save 5, donate 5…..the prices that you listed…is that the price after $5 savings if you buy 5 items? Last week, I remember that you posted the price for dominicks or even jewel and you made a note that the price was “after the $5 instant savings”. Just wondering if you don’t make a note, then it’s the price of the product in the huntley store without the $5 savings. Is this correct

is for the 24 roll on my pge saver, not the 12 roll that’s on sale. Anyone else have that problem? Am I not seeing something? Thanks :)
gallegosjunk says
the coupon online says 24 roll or any Mega Roll….is the 12 roll pack on sale that you saw a mega roll pack? if it is, then the coupon would work. i haven’t been to the store yet, but the add says something about 12 big rolls…is that the mega?

I did the Pasta and meat deal at the Dominicks in Lake in the Hills yesterday. Worked great.
Cashier was nice!
Bought 6 Classico, One Miracle Whip and three small packages of beef. Paid $1.32.
Trust me, we have all had Dominicks ‘issues’ in the past. Depends on the help that day!

Just an FYI: I went to Meijer today to pick up applesauce cups along with some other things and the applesauce was back up to $2 something. I did find a good deal on the Dannon Light and Fit 4 pack yogurt at $1.89, there’s a $1/1 Facebook coupon along with the $1/2 Meijer Mealbox coupon. $0.39 for 4 yogurt cups is a good deal.

FYI. A while back, Jewel sent out the coupons that had the normal save $6 on $60. But in addition, there was also a couple of store coupons for paper towels, etc. — any brand. I was able to use the $2 store coupon on the Scotts Papers Towels bring the cost down to $1.99. FYI if you have the coupon.

I just returned from Target where they rejected my $1.00 coupons for the single use packages. The coupon clearly says good for any size, but the computer rejected, the cashier then rejected, and the customer service rep rejected. Very frustrating! I shop at Target all the time and I was very disappointed. We have another Target in the area, but I’m not sure if I will try it or not. Anyone else have this problem?

I did it last week at McHenry Target-24 in ONE transaction!! I did have other stuff, and she didn’t even adjust down, so I got the overage for my other items. The cashier was very friendly and we had a nice chat about how convenient (and FREE!) the Tide’s were-she could not have been nicer or more pleasant. I guess it depends on the store, time of day (less busy) and the person you are dealing with-sorry you didn’t have a good experience! :(

hi!
I did the buy $12 worth of icecream and get $4 catalina deal. I did it twice and neither shot out a catalina. I hit the $12 based on NON-preferred pricing. Is that correct? Or was the $12 purely based on preferred pricing.
Please help!!
Thanks

Apparently, since the implementation of their mobile coupons, Target’s computer systems have been self-adjusting the value of coupons to a lower value. For instance, the article below has the lady buying 10 WeightWatchers Smart Ones, handing over a $4 coupon and only getting $1.99 off her total. The sweet part of this for Target is that they get the full value of the coupon from the manufacturer regardless of how much their system takes off the total. (Kind of makes you wonder about the overage they may or may not give you when your coupon is more than your item, doesn’t it?)
Know the value of your coupons, hand them over one-by-one, make sure the register takes the full value of the coupon off your total and be prepared to argue if it’s not right until they figure this out. They say this is the first they’ve heard of it — would they have said any different considering the profit they must have been making over the last two months??? I wonder how long it will take them to fix the problem since they will now be cutting into their profits.
Here’s the article if you’re interested.

I have had numerous problems with proper credits for coupons at Target. You have to really watch each one. And it’s not just the man q’s either. Often times, their own Target coupons don’t ring up properly. Yes, handing them one by one and checking the register screen is a good strategy. I have found if your cashier is a highschooler they calmly keep at it to correct it. If your cashier is older, they tend to become very anxious and frustrated (and can’t understand why you have so many coupon anyway…). I only go to Target in the evenings when it’s not too busy. Of course, it would be helpful if Target corrected their register software to take care of the problem in the first place.

I went to Dominicks for the Starbucks ice cream. As usual coupons were a big hurdle. The three newspaper/magazine coupons were difficult to scan. All the coupons were an EXACT match (not even questionable) for the items purchased. The two on-line coupons would not scan and were not accepted. I am being to think that on-line coupons are just not worth the ink, paper and effort! I printed one coupon per day from the Starbucks site. They have different numbers and minimally one of them should have scanned. Last time I tried (at Dominicks) to use web coupons I was told that it was my printer. This time I used two different printers. Is anyone else experiencing this?
