That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, you do need to be getting the paper with the “best,” highest-value coupons.)

Ken’s Salad Dressing (16oz.) is on sale for $1. Use the $1 coupon from 8/14 SS and get it FREE!
Velveeta Cheesy Skillets (14.5-15.5oz.) are on sale for $1.67. When you buy one, you’ll get a Catalina for $1 off meat on your next shopping trip! Use the $1 coupon in the 8/21 SS, pay .67 and get a $1 Catalina! If you’ll be buying meat at some point in the future, it makes your Cheesy Skillets FREE!
Reader iCoupon2 spotted a great deal on Scrubbing Bubbles One Step Toilet Bowl Cleaner. The starter kit is currently on sale at Jewel for $3.49. The September issue of All You has a coupon for .50 off, making this $2.99. This is a self-cleaner that mounts next to the toilet and sprays cleaner inside when you step on it. The idea is that if you step on it once a day, you never have to scrub your toilet again. I tried it out at BlogHer earlier this month, where Scrubbing Bubbles had a toilet in their booth just for this purpose!
But back to the deal. Here’s where the fun begins! AFTER you purchase it, inside the package, you’ll find two more $3 coupons for the Scrubbing Bubbles One Step starter kits! (NOTE: DO NOT OPEN THE PACKAGE PRIOR TO PURCHASE. BUY ONE, PAY FOR IT, AND OPEN IT LATER. You can see the green coupon book through a window on the outside of the box to verify that it is inside.) Once you have purchased one, you’ll have two $3 coupons, and you can buy two more for .49 each on your next trip!
(And once you buy those… you can take them home, open them, get more coupons, and go back for another round when you’re ready. There’s also a coupon inside for B1G1F for the refills, but right now, the starter kits are the better deal. Which, again, goes back to the couponers’ adage that it’s almost always cheaper to simply buy another one with a coupon than it is to buy a refill…)
Lastly, a note to the Jewel employees reading. My local store is going to tape the tops of these Scrubbing Bubbles boxes shut when restocking the shelves to ensure people do not steal the coupons without buying the product. (Really, this deal is great enough – please, don’t steal!) You may wish to do the same at your store…
Duncan Hines cake mixes, brownie mixes and frostings are on sale for $1.25 each. The 6/5 SS has a “Buy Two, Get 1 Cake Mix Free” coupon. So, buy two Duncan Hines of your choice, plus one Duncan Hines cake mix. You’ll pay $2.50 for three, or .83 each!
If you’re planning to go to Disney on Ice at the United Center in September, here’s a Buy One, Get One Free ticket deal. At Jewel, California green or deep purple seedless grapes are $1.28/lb. (There are Disney characters on the bags.) Near the grapes, you’ll see coupons for B1G1F Disney on Ice admissions when you buy the grapes. You will need both the coupon AND the Jewel receipt showing the grapes purchase to redeem the B1G1F admission.
Everyday Essentials pastas (nearly all varieties) are on sale for $1 through 9/5. Use the $1 off coupon in the new Jewel Fresh For Fall coupon book and get one FREE! Note that these coupons are limit 1 per transaction.
Marcal Small Steps 12-double roll toilet paper is on sale for $5, also through 9/5. Use the $1 coupon from 8/28 RP and it’s $4 – that’s about .33 per double roll, a very good price for double-roll TP.
The multiroll packs are also a softer, quilted variety (similar to Northern, with little hearts quilted on it) versus the “flat” single rolls we all usually get free with those coupons :)

Banquet dinners at .50 each are a steal. I had both Swiffer and Fresh Mixers discounts on my Avenu too — my husband’s card had a $1.50 off 2, limit 6 and I had a $1.25 off each, limit 5. If you’ve got either of these, the $1.50-off-2 Avenu ecoupon will net you Fresh Mixers at .75 each after all discounts. My $1.25 Avenu ecoupon made them .25 each after the deal, which was good enough for me! They’re really cheap and easy lunches at that price. And, if you do buy these and like them, SAVE the bowls they come in. You can easily refill them with 3/4 cup rice or pasta, fill with water to the line, and microwave single servings of rice or pasta VERY easily. Then just add your own sauce, meat or veggies :) |

Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? Jewel regularly sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Jewel meat deals:
- Chicken drumsticks, leg quarters or thighs are .99/lb.
- Boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs are $1.99/lb.
- Split chicken breasts are $1.99/lb.
Jewel seafood deals:
- 4oz. Ocean Market seafood portions are $1 – that’s $4/lb.
Jewel produce deals:
- 1lb. bags of baby-cut carrots are $1
- Roma tomatoes are $1.29/lb.
- Yellow squash is $1.49/lb.
- Zucchini is $1.49/lb.
- Cucumbers are .67 each
(Anytime meat is under $2 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $2 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices. This is also true for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less.)

You do NOT have to purchase all $30 in the same shopping trip, but you DO have to purchase $30 worth in this particular calendar week — it will not carry over to next week. Your CVS Extra Care Card will track the $30 for you.
CVS Tip: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Coupon books to look for at Walmart: “Bright Ideas, Delicious Cereals“ (Kellogg’s cereal and breakfast coupons)
Gain dish detergent is .97 every day at Walmart. Use the .50 coupon from 8/14 RP and pay .47!
Banquet Regular Dinners are .88 each. Use this .50 off 2 Banquet Regular Dinners printable (Need code from previous ConAgra product packaging to print) and pay $1.26 for two, or .63 each!
“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
2-packs of Spring Valley 1000mg Fish Oil 100ct. packages are $6, or $3 per bottle.
Walmart meat deals:
- Fresh boneless skinless chicken breasts are $1.88/lb.
- Pork spare ribs are $1.98/lb.
Walmart seafood deals:
- 3lb. bags of frozen Tilapia fillets are $10 – that’s about $3.33/lb.
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
Will I blog Walmart in its entirety each week?
I will not be blogging entire writeups for Walmart each week. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.
However, if there IS an ad with noteworthy sales or I’m aware of great coupon matchups, you’ll find those here too.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

about the Jewel meat prices – my Jewel had purdue whole roasters for 99cents per pound! I completed two transactions, the first being my velveeta skillet meals and then I used those $1 catalinas towards my roaster… I was able to get my roaster FREE! yay!

The $2 savings at coupon network is not a coupon. It’s a catalina. Buy 2 cartons get $1 OYNO, buy 3 or more get $2 OYNO. Good through 9/4/2011.

I have 2 questions on this sale at Jewel. I didn’t notice the Pringles in the Jewel ad, so that’s my first question. The second is… if I get twice the amount listed (8 Pringles instead of 4) in the same transaction, would it kick out 2 $1 catalinas??

At my Target, the ALL laundry detergent and Snuggle fabric softener are on sale for $3.99. Use the $1 coupons from the Dominick’s MDA booklet and Target coupons from 8/7 insert. Comes out to $1.99 for each bottle.

We headed over to Staples today for $.19 notebooks and 8-packs of pencils (limit 2 each, with a $5 purchase of other items) and were pleasantly surprised that they were actually $.09 each! Also picked up dry erase board cleaner ($2) and Bic markers and pencils (B2GO free).
Also, my P&G book had a $.75 off Dawn coupon! But, I only found the P&G book in the Tribune edition that landed on my front porch… I picked up one each in Walgreens and CVS and neither had it. But, that one Q got me dish detergent for $.25 at CVS! The CVS coupon machine printed me a $1 off a single pack of Orbit gum – down to $.37 there!

I was wondering if we didn’t really need any of the items on sale at Jewel this week, if we should wait and see what is going to be on sale in the Conagra October sale?

The Go-Gurt deal at Meijer gets better when you add the $1/3 Meijer Mealbox coupon. I bought 6 Go-Gurts (you could get the others too), I used 2 Meijer Mealbox coupons and 3 .75/2 coupons. Paid $5.75 for 6, so .96 each. We’re stocked for a while now and they’re great for the kids lunches at school. Thanks!

Does anyone know if Target will price match items involved in a gift card deal? Meijer (NW Indiana) has Febreze Set and Refresh on sale for $2.00. This would make them free after 5 Qs and the gift card. TIA

Just got back from my Madison, WI Target store. LOTS of clearance like Huggies Jeans diapers by the box marked down from $19.99 to $7.48. Target had some store coupons last week on their site, and there are lots of manufacturer coupons out there, too. Only had size 4 by me, but check anyway if you are there. Also had boy-print Pampers marked down to $6 something. Only size 1-2, but if you need them, what a steal. Of course, use coupons to make it even better. Saw some formula on clearance, too.
Bring Crest and Colgate Qs, too. Lots of clearance toothpaste, toothbrushes.
Old Spice deodorant and Pudding packs were on clearance, too.
Happy Couponing!

I’ll post these above too, but I spotted them in the store this afternoon:
Everyday Essentials pastas (nearly all varieties) are on sale for $1 through 9/5. Use the $1 off coupon in the new Jewel Fresh For Fall coupon book and it’s FREE. Note that these coupons are limit 1 per transaction.
Marcal Smart Steps 12-double roll toilet paper is on sale for $5, also through 9/5. Use the $1 coupon from 8/28 RP and it’s $4 – that’s about .33 per double roll, a very good price for double-roll TP.

I haven’t yet tried a Wet Jet but I thought this was a pretty good deal to give it a go!
1- Swiffer Wet Jet $20.39
1- Swiffer 12 ct pad refill $5.59
1- Oral B Battery Toothbrush $6.00
I had a buy wet jet get a free refill from the Home Made Simple booklet.
I had a $5. off Wet Jet from 7/31PG
I had a $3. off toothbrush from 7/31PG
$31.98
Deduct $13.59 = $18.39 – $10. RR = $8.39 for the 3 items.
It is worth a try for that!

Thanks to Anna from south suburban savings, she posted a deal on pepsi deal that makes this deal really great. If you live in the SouthEast Chicago area and get the circulars that have the Petes Fresh Market Ad inside the Ad is a coupon manufacter coupon for $3.00 that says if you buy 4 pepsi or mountain dew 12 pk, so that would make the Jewel deal 4/$5 which is a good deal to me thanks Jill for the coupon 2 DVD it helped me look out for these kind of deals and thanks to Anna from South Suburban Savings for giving me the heads up, oh this coupon expires 9/7/2011 so take advantage if you have the chance to get to the store or go by they have the ad in the store as well at least in my store they had it. They also have a website as well. Hope this helps

I used the $1.00 off Tide coupons at Target where the Tide was only .99 after scanning all 4 coupons, I owed .38, is this correct? I was always under the impression that taxes weren’t charged unless you spent $1.00 or more, please help me understand:-/

We just got a new washing machine. Ours died along with yours Jill, though it was a top loader. Here’s the question…
It’s NOT a front loader or a super fancy machine. It’s just an H.E. Top loader with a few fancy features. Can we use powder detergent in an HE machine??
THX!
