Hello, Super-Couponers! Ready for another great week of shopping and saving with coupons? Of course you are! But are you ready to do it even earlier? I’m looking forward to a busy Sunday with the kids tomorrow, which means I worked extra-hard this Saturday to bring the Deals to you nice and early!
It’s been another busy week in the world of couponing and shopping. This week we learned that another coupon counterfeiter is facing 30 years in prison, JC Penney plans to eliminate the ability to pay with cash in 2013, replacing checkouts with iPads, and Target is limiting all manufacturer coupons to four like coupons per transaction. And, for a little summertime fun, I’m sharing my kids’ “Slushy Magic” method of making slushies at home… no blender required!
As always, it’s time for Deals of the Week. I’ve got all the best supermarket and drugstore deals of the week written just for you… all in one place, on one page! As always, grab your scissors and coupon inserts, and get ready to start clipping this week, as bunches of bargains and freebies are heading your way!
Sunday’s newspaper contained THREE inserts: A SmartSource (SS,) a RedPlum (RP,) and a General Mills (GM.) The Parade magazine also has some coupons on the back page for a variety of health and skincare products, including $2 off Desenex foot powder and $2 off Keri lotion. Of note: There are no size restrictions, so if someplace carries travel-size Keri, we can likely take it home free with a $2 coupon :)
To our NEW blog readers: If you’re interested in learning to save on almost everything you buy at the grocery store, why not attend a live Super-Couponing workshop? Many are FREE, and you’ll learn how to cut your grocery bill in half! You can also learn at home with my Super-Couponing DVD workshops… and in about one hour, you’ll be saving with coupons like a pro! Learn more!
Now… ready for your Deals of the Week? You may enjoy $1.30 Clemmy’s ice cream, $1 Dannon Activia yogurt, $1.90 Era laundry detergent, $2 Palermo’s pizzas, $1 Pepperidge Farm Jingos, $1.50 Lay’s Kettle chips, $1.50 Post Pebbles Treats, $1.99 Purex laundry detergent, $13.49 Pampers Super Packs (giant box diapers,) .50 Cheerios, .50 Glad freezer or storage bags, .88 Coffee-Mate Natural Bliss, FREE Colgate toothpaste, .45 Barilla pasta, $1.25 Pringles, $1.44 Keebler cookies, $1.99 Breyers ice cream, $10.99 Luvs Big Pack diapers, FREE Lanacane With Aloe, FREE W Perfection tampons, FREE Renew Life 3 Day Diet, FREE 20oz. If you’re new to my blog, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon terminology and abbreviations.
A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on some Chicagoland stores, the Kroger, Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you’re shopping at a SuperValu or Safeway store you may find similar sales to our Jewel-Osco and Dominick’s deals. Welcome, and enjoy!
and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.
“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load SavingStar ecoupons
IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations have updated their cash registers to a new system. If you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed. Watch your registers.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: Jewel-Osco has discontinued its Avenu ecoupons as of 6/18/12. The ecoupons you can currently use with Jewel-Osco now are via SavingStar and Jewel-Osco’s new ecoupons. Note that the ecoupons you can load to card are often the same as the ones you can print at Coupons.com. If you print them, you get two prints, but if you load them, you only get ONE. Just an FYI.
Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons and Deal Match offers
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Additional info:
If prints are still available, print this $2 off a $10 Lucerne Purchase printable, print it and use it with some more Lucerne (Safeway house brand) items this week.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:
View weekly ad | Load Meijer Mperks ecoupons
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.
Heading over to Kroger… View weekly ad | Load Kroger ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Cellfire ecoupons | Load ShortCuts ecoupons | Load PGEsaver.com ecoupons
Jewel-Osco | Dominick’s (Safeway) | Meijer | Kroger | Target | Walgreens | CVS | Walmart | Free |
Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecoupons
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. The current ad is good through Tuesday, August 7th.
Off to Target…
View weekly ad | Print store coupons from Target.com …
Target Notes:
You get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit or debit card, you receive another 5% off.
Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad | On Fridays, preview next week’s ad)…
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WALGREENS AD: Walgreens is no longer putting its entire ad in the paper newspaper version. There are online-only ad pages that you can look at via this link: View weekly ad
And finally, over at CVS (View weekly ad) | Load SavingStar ecoupons
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you! You may want to scan your coupon more than once – it’s been printing different coupons on subsequent scans!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is filled with many coupons each month. Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Has anyone been able to find these in their store? I’ve checked 3 and sales clerks have never even seen them. Which stores actually carry these?

which takes me to a coupontom link, I click the coupon to print, it prompts me to please select a coupon (which I’ve already done) then, after I click ok, it goes into an endless loop that I have to finally close the window. The 1st link to partners.couponnetwork works just fine.
Tried a couple times but didn’t mess around beyond that. I wanted my coupons before they disappear :) Wonder if it’s just me?

a i don’t remember where i got this coupons from i think the parade or something it was $2.50 for a one covergirl outlast lip color product excludes trail/travel and a $2.50 cover girl lipprefection, blast flipstick or outlast lip stain excludes trail and travel one of these would knock the duo flipstick from $8..00 to $5.50. Could use this into the scenerio or should i hold on to it it expires 8/31/12.Please let me know your feedback thank you soo much jill for all that you do.

I went to CVS this morning to buy 2 CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascaras – I scanned my CVS card at the coupon center and got the $5 off $15 cosmetics purchase coupon AND since I’m a CVS Beauty Club Member I got ANOTHER coupon for $3 off $15 beauty purchase! I was not sure that I could use them together but I tried…
I got 2 CoverGirl LashBlast mascaras for $16.00, with $5 off $15, $3 off $15 and I had 2 coupons for $2 off any one CoverGirl product which brought my total down to $4.00 with $3 back in ExtraBucks!
I also got a box of 375 count Q-Tips for $1.99 and used the $0.25 off coupon from 7/29 RP and paid $1.74 for these.
I had $6 in ExtraBucks from last week’s Olay deal soooo in total I got 2 Lash Blasts,1 box of Q-tips (and a $1 drink since my total would have been too low to use my $6 in ExtraBucks) for $2.30 AND got $3 back in ExtraBucks!
Just a heads up- the Beauty Club $3 off $15 coupon beeped when the CVS clerk scanned it (I had the $5 off $15 scanned first for this very reason), however, he looked at it and did a manual override and gave me the extra $3 off without saying a word to me. I did look at the coupon and it said “limit one $ off coupon per purchase” so I was pretty sure they wouldn’t accept both the $5 off $15 and $3 off $15 but he did! I hope others are able to get this great deal as well!

My CVS would not allow both coupons on the beauty deal.
So, I did the Covergirl deal today and will do a Maybeline deal tomorrow.
The second coupon beeped and she handed it back to me.
I wasn’t going to argue because she went out of her way before I checked out working on the MCM that kept jamming with the thin paper they use at this store.
After she got my coupons to print, she put an “out of order” sign on the machine.
Frustrating day at CVS this morning.

Be careful when using coupons when doing the MDA catalina deal. I bought 6 Morningstar frozen products 2/$7 = $21. I used 2 coupons from coupon network and 4 coupons from the inserts. The insert coupons wouldn’t scan so they entered those manually but the internet coupons scanned. On my receipt, the total was less than $20 due to the internet coupons. The catalina didn’t print. I also used the $5/15 frozen but it showed up down below so it wasn’t a problem. Customer service gave me $5 in cash so it was all good but watch out.

I know the Cascade is listed in the Jewel deals, $6.99 with $1 Catalina and $1 coupon from 07/29 P&G. End price is $4.99
However – Target has it on sale for $5.50, and with the $1 coupon you pay only $4.50. 49 cents is 49 cents. LOL
jessicainstcharles says
Walgreen’s has the Ban deodorant on sale 2/$3, the 08/05 SS has a coupon for $1 off Ban solid. With 2 coupons you pay $1 for both, or .50 each. (or even if you have 1, you still get a .50 Ban)
I would have done this deal twice, but 2 of my 4 papers did not have a SS in them. grrr!
Also, the Bic disposable razors are on sale buy 1 get 1 50% off. The 10 pack cheapies are the best deal. $3.99 each, with sale total is $5.99. This week, 08/05 SS has a coupon for $3 off any BIC disposable. Use 2 and get $6 off the $5.99. Free razors!

Isn’t it cheapEST at Meijer for 75oz cascade for 3.99, then the q? I plan on pricematching at Walmart on this one because I don’t need a big trip to Meijer this week.

When I hear there is a facebook coupon available it almost always isn’t there. The manufacturer would make you go thru a bunch of stuff like a game or whatever and then not give you a coupon. Now when I hear there is a facebook coupon I go to the page and do a search for “coupon” and see if there are comments that the coupon wouldn’t print.
Well I’m glad I did it with Activia – there is many comments saying they don’t see a coupon. So it looks like a waste of time to go there to look for it.
