“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)

Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Freebies/Cheapies from the “Freshly Made Holiday” coupon book currently found in Jewel-Osco stores
If you have the new “Freshly Made Holiday” coupon book found in stores, there’s a coupon inside for $1 off any Homelife cleaning product. Single rolls of Homelife paper towels are on sale for $1! After coupon, get them FREE! Note that this coupon is limit one per transaction.
Longtime blog reader Prea writes that Essential Everyday Toaster Pastries are $1.69 at most Jewel locations. In the same “Fresh Holiday” coupon book, there’s a $1 coupon for any Essential Everyday item that will net you a box for .69! Again, this store coupon is also limit one per transaction.
And another longtime reader, BlueDemon20, spotted some more great buys with the same $1 off any EE item coupon. Everyday Essentials small, old fashioned oatmeal is $1.89 — just .89 after the Everyday Essentials $1 coupon. And, the EE Shredded Wheat is $2.29 — just 1.29 after the coupon.
Scott Paper Catalina
Buy two Scott items, each from a different category, and get a $1 Catalina. For example, Scott paper towels, ScotTissue, and Scott wipes would all be in different categories. Or, buy 3 from 3 different categories and get a $3 Catalina!
Regular prices of all of these may vary by Jewel location, but these are the prices at my Jewel:
Scott Paper Towels: $1.34
ScotTissue single rolls: .89
Scott wipes: $1.99
Here’s a printable coupon for $1 off 2 Scott products. (Coupon has now hit its print limit, but if you printed it last week, continue on…)
So, remember to buy items from DIFFERENT categories, and the deal looks like this:
Buy 1 Scott Paper Towel and one ScotTissue and one Scott wipes ($4.22)
Use $1-off-2 coupon.
Pay $3.22 and get a $3 Catalina. That’s .22 for three, or about .07 each!

Jewel-Osco $125 Coupon Book
There was a new $125 coupon book in last Sunday’s paper filled with Jewel-Osco store coupons. This book is good through 12/17, so hold onto it! (Stores may have it on the flyer racks too.) Best bets?
– 2 12oz. packages of fresh cranberries are $2.98 with coupon – that’s $1.49 each.
– 2 3lb. bags of Michigan apples are $3.98 with coupon – that’s $1.99 per bag, or about .66/lb.
– FREE 16oz. Bake Shop Pan Bread when you buy 1/2lb. of DiLusso meat or cheese. There’s a $1 coupon for a 1/2 pound of DiLusso Genoa or Sopressata Salami in the 10/9 SS, or a general $1 off 1/2 pound of DiLusso meat or cheese printable too (must enter IL zip code to view the coupon.) UPDATE: Apparently the 10/9 SS coupon is regional – not all areas received this.
– Dean’s Ice Cream (1qt) is on sale for $3. Buy two and use the $1-off-2 store coupon. You’ll pay $5 for two, or $2.50 each.
– 4 boxes of Essential Everyday Fruit Snacks are $5 ($1.25 each) when you buy four with coupon. I like to pay less than this for fruit snacks, but it’s also been awhile since we’ve seen a great fruit snacks deal…
– L’Oreal Color Vive Shampoo or Conditioner (13oz.) is on sale for $3. Use the $2 store coupon and pay $1!
– Xtra Laundry Detergent (39-48 loas, 58-7oz.) is $1.99 with coupon.
– Hormel Cure 81 Boneless Half Ham is B1G1F with coupon. Reader Sebrugger spotted a great deal when this coupon is stacked with the $3 manufacturer coupon from the new Jewel “Freshly Made Holiday” coupon book. With two books and two $3 manufacturer coupons, you’ll take $6 total off the price of your two hams. BUT READ THIS FIRST… apparently, not all Jewel-Osco stores even stock this ham. Reader Charlie Q writes, “Just a heads up, as ridiculous as it sounds, not all Jewels even carry this item. I went to SIX different stores and NONE of them carry it.”
– Carefree pantiliners (22ct.) are on sale for $1. Use the .30 store coupon and stack it with the .50 coupon from 11/6 SS. You’ll pay .20!

Taste of Home FREE Cookbook, 5-cup Rice Cooker and 12-quart Tamale Steamer P&G Promotion
Jewel is running an “A Taste Of Home” mail-in promotion on P&G products. Buy $25 worth of P&G products in one transaction and receive a 2-piece cookware set and one cookbook of your choice via mail (view ad here.)
The cookware is a 12-quart tamale steamer, a 5-cup rice cooker, and one of the following cookbooks: “Fresh Mexico,” “Latin Grilling,” or “Cocina Cubana.” $25 worth of goods must be purchased in the same transaction, and you must submit a receipt from the same store you found the forms in (must be from Jewel – cannot use a Dominick’s receipt, etc.)
The offer runs through 4/30/12, so we have lots of time to line this up to Catalina sales too. Look for the forms for this rebate in Spanish/Latino Jewel locations.
The form for this offer is online too on another store’s website. Several readers called the number on the form and were told that printable versions would be accepted.

Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Jewel-Osco’s meat deals:
- Perdue whole fryers are $1.79/lb.
Jewel seafood deals:
- Ocean Market 4oz. seafood fillets are $1 each – that’s $4/lb.
Jewel-Osco’s produce deals:
- 5lb. bags of Texas Red grapefruit are $3.99 – that’s about .80/lb.
- Fuji apples are .99/lb.
- 4lb. California navel oranges are $3.99 – that’s about $1/lb.
- 3lb. bags of red or yellow gold potatoes are $2.99 – that’s about $1/lb.
- 2lb. bags of mini peeled carrots are $2.49 – that’s about $1.25/lb.
- Red seedless grapes are $1.28/lb.
- Anjou, Bartlett or Bosc pears are $1.49/lb.
- Fresh broccoli crowns or cauliflower are $1.49/lb.
- Fresh green beans are $1.79/lb.
(Anytime meat is under $2 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $2 per pound is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices. This is also true for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less.)

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: The Schnucks ad cycle is a WEDNESDAY to TUESDAY ad, which means these deals run through TUESDAY, DECEMBER 13th.

Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad)…
For the past couple of years or so, Walgreens has run Register Rewards promotions around the holidays. Their “Jingle Cash” promo is back this year, and from 12/1-12/17, if you spend X, you get Y:
Spend $30, earn $5
Spend $50, earn $10
Spend $75, earn $15
Spend $100, earn $20
There is a TWIST though to the Jingle Cash this year. You must spend it the following week (12/18 through 12/21) and you must use it on a $30 minimum purchase. The ad also notes that there are other exclusions that will be printed on the coupon itself. In the past, the Jingle Cash have been STORE coupons, not manufacturer — and there is a possibility that the $30 minimum may also be POST COUPON, as some of their store coupons have also been worded this way in the past.
All things to consider before you go Jingle-Cashing. And now, on to the Walgreens deals…

Selected Hallmark items are also included in this week’s gift card deal. The ad shows Peanuts ornaments, recordable books, $1.99 boxed cards and a Christmas Karaoke microphone.
DEAL IDEA: The Centrum’s a great buy here! Buy three Centrum Pro Nutrients and a box of Kleenex to put you over $30 – now at $31.46. Use three $7 Centrum coupons. Pay $10.46 and get a $10 giftcard back – all that for .46! (You could also use the $1.99 greeting cards instead of the Kleenex if you’d rather have those – pay $10.96 and get a $10 gift card back!)
CVS/pharmacy is continuing a Gift Giveaway Event on Twitter this week too! To participate, follow @CVS_Extra for the rules. Then, all you have to do is chat with CVS using the hashtag #CVSgifts, as they ask questions about who you still have to buy for, your favorite Christmas gifts, whether you get gifts for your pets, and more! This could be a fun way to snag a great gift, totally free! It’s like having a Secret Santa monitoring your Twitter feed. :)
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any of these deals. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
72ct. Huggies soft-pack baby wipes are $1.97 every day at most Walmarts (I spotted this price in Huntley). Use the .50 coupon from 11/20 SS and pay $1.47!
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Not normally a huge fan of the juices that aren’t 100% juice, but this made a good deal for me as I was entirely out of juice.
Meijer has Welch’s Essentials on sale for 2/$5. There is a meijer mealbox coupon for $1 off of 2, bringing it down $2/4. Then, in the 11/6SS I believe is a coupon for $1 off 1. With 1 Meijer coupon and 2 SS Coupons, they should be $1 a bottle. Seemed like a good deal to me, esp. for a 64oz bottle of no-HFCS added juice. :)

I bought the 2 butters with the store coupon and manufacturer coupons. The cashier said I could NOT use the Jewel store butter coupon and my manufacturer- because the manufacturer coupon said it cannot be used in conjunction with other coupons.
Has anyone heard of this? I did this deal at a different Jewel last week and it was fine.
Thanks all! Happy Holidays!

For the last few weeks, every time I shop at Dominicks and Jewel, I’ve been getting 4-5 store coupon catalinas. The Dominick’s ones have been especially nice – $2 off O organic produce or $2 off Safeway trail mix, plus others. Just curious if everyone else is experiencing this, too.

The 1.76 oz bars of Toblerone Milk Chocolate (located in the check out lanes) are priced at 2 /$1.00. There is a .50/1 coupon in the 11/13 SS. The coupon is on the back page. I was able to get 7 for free.
I STAND CORRECTED. The coupon I used on the Toblerone candy was for a different size. I can’t believe that I let this error get past me. I am usually good about watching for size and quantity on all coupons.

Hi Jill,
Hope you can help me out with this one. Just returned back from Jewel full of frostraition.
I was trying to buy the Ham deal as I did on Saturday with no problems. Using exactly the same Q’s as everyone else is( 1 bogo Jewel Q and 2 $3MQ. However the cashier started to tell me that I can’t use the 2nd $3Q on the free Ham. I explained to her that I should be able to use 1MQ and 1Store Q on each item I purchase, including on my free item. She 1st said that I can use only one Q from the book per purchase and after I explained to her that my free item is still a purchase , she moved on to claiming that she can’t use the 2 nd coupon , because it’s exceeding the price of the free ham.She called over the store mgr on duty and she confirmed her claim. So I left and called Corporate and got the same responce from them. So I just wanted to straight outmy understandings of the policy and figure how to explain that. I also asked them how than is it possible to use 2 MQ on a BOGO sale and the supervisor on the line said that this shouldn’t be allowed at all according to their policy. So I am completly confused. Please help. Tnx

Went to the Open Pantry yesterday to get my free water and keychain and the lady said that that deal was over and that there would be a new deal rolling out in January. So they are no longer honoring the water and keychain.
beba1333 says
Tnx for the answer Jill. That is exactly what I tried to explain and read to the supervisor of corporate. That exact same portion of the policy.
He explained to me that the cent of coupon could only be used only for item that is not free. Or I could use a cent off coupon if I am not using the a BOGO coupon.
Anyways I give up fighting with them and told them how frustraiting it is for a costumer to go through this.
P.s I know that you would never writte a deal that will violate any coupon policy and that is why it made me even more angry.
Merry Christmas to all of you

Hi, I was hoping to do 2 of the Jewel deals: the Hormel Cure 81 ham & the Homelife $1 paper towels, but I don’t think I have the right coupon book. Obviously too late for the paper towels, but the ham sale is good thru 12/17. The book I have is the Jewel-Osco freshly made HOLIDAY book w/gingerbread men & snowflake cookies at the top. Says “save over $125” and dates are 12/4-12/17. Is this the wrong book? My Homelife coupon is $2 of a 6 pack not $1 off any homelife cleaning item. For the Hormel ham, it only has the store B1G1 coupon, no mfg. I looked at the store & they only had this coupon book & the “traditions” english/spanish book. Can someone please help me figure this out? THANKS!!
