A big welcome to all the new Super-Couponers from this past week’s classes! If you’re new to this site, take a minute and read a few tips on how to make the most of it.
Can you believe there are only 9 shopping days left until Christmas? Let’s get shopping! Here are the grocery deals (and gift deals) for this week:
Starting at Jewel… my favorite store…
Coffee-Mate flavored liquid coffee creamers are on sale at Jewel for $1, and what’s the easiest way to get stuff for free? Using a dollar coupon during a dollar sale! Print some $1 coupons and go get your free Coffee-Mate… in yummy holiday flavors too! There are 2 different links on the Coffee-Mate homepage, so you can print 4 of these (print 2 of the first, then go back to the homepage and print 2 more from the other link.) Want more Coffee Mate cheap? 11/2 RP has a .50 coupon, so you can get even more for 50 cents a bottle. Plus, many people are reporting that Catalinas for even more Coffee Mate savings are printing after buying the first bottles… so you can just keep getting more, and more…
How about some quarter deals? Sometimes you can get a lot for just 25 cents…
Snapple drinks are on sale for $1 at Jewel. Use the .75 coupon from 12/14 SS and pick one up for just a quarter! There’s also a .50 off 2 coupon in 12/7 SS, which will net you two more at 50 cents each… (Note: this coupon says “Good only at Walgreens.” But guess what… it’s a manufacturer coupon, and Jewel will accept competitor’s manufacturer coupons! It’s right in their coupon policy…)
Pounce cat treats are $1 a bag this week, and there’s a .75 coupon in 12/7 RP. Pick these up for a quarter too…
Kotex Pantiliners are also on sale for a buck, and there’s a .75 coupon in 11/9 SS… so pick these up for a quarter as well. You can even print 2 more of these and get more boxes…
Over to Dominick’s… last week, Dominick’s partnered with www.pgesaver.com, a website where you can load electronic coupons to your Fresh Values card, similar to what Jewel does with Avenu. The coupons are a little different in that they have expiration dates just like paper coupons, and you can only have 25 loaded to your card at one time. But, like Avenu, these function as store coupons and you can stack manufacturer coupons with them too! And with these, there’s a pretty good deal on Tide this week…
While laundry detergent has been ridiculously cheap over the past month if you’re not brand-specific (under $2 total for 5 bottles of All or 5 bottles of Arm & Hammer? Crazy good deals!) Tide is one of the brands that rarely delves into the cheap zone. And yet, Tide certainly has its fans – people write and ask when Tide is going on sale! Well, If you’re a fan of Tide, you may want to check out this deal…
Dominick’s flier has a store coupon that makes a bottle of Tide $5.99, down from $8.99. Load up www.pgesaver.com and activate the 50-cent Tide coupon. Then, use the $1.00 Tide coupon from 11/30 PG or 12/14 PG and get this Tide for just $4.49!
(If you’re not doing this deal and have no plans to use these Tide coupons before they expire, why not redeem them at Target on the travel-size single load of Tide… which is just 99 cents!)
Now, the page 4 Dominick’s coupons require an additional $10 purchase. (But that’s pre-coupon!) So here are some things you could buy to fill in that other $10…
Dominick’s is running their “Buy 5, Save $5” again. Kellogg’s cereals are a part of the deal. Most are priced at $2.49 or $2.29, pre-sale.
When you buy 5 boxes, it takes $5 off. So Frosted Mini Wheats or Rice Krispies work out to $1.49 a box, and Frosted Flakes or Corn Flakes work out to $1.29 a box. (Remember, you must buy 5 at a time. But you can buy 10, 15, etc. too as long as you are at a multiple of 5.)
These aren’t bad prices for cereal, but let’s make them better…
$1 off Frosted Mini-Wheats (print limit of 14!)
$1 off Frosted Flakes or others – 12/14 RP
$1 off Frosted Mini Wheats or others – 12/14 RP
$1 off Frosted Mini Wheats – November All You
$1 off Frosted Mini Wheats – 11/9 RP
$1 off Rice Krispies – 12/14 RP
$1 off Rice Krispies – 11/9 RP
Buying in quantities of 5 (or 10, or 15) will give you these cereals for .29 or .49 a box! CHEAP cereal! AND… look on the Rice Krispies boxes for peelie coupons for $1 off marshmallows. Marshmallows are only $1… so you can get those FREE too!
(And those of you who’ve been with me for a while know that Dominick’s is not my favorite store. But I do know some people do like it. IF you can get Dominick’s to accept all your coupons, this cereal deal is fantastic!)
(Note that many Dominick’s take issue with internet coupons – some won’t take them at all, and others will only let you use two “copies” of an internet coupon (which is a grey area too — technically, you cannot copy an internet coupon because they’re all individually serial numbered and barcoded. So if each one is unique and different, how can you even have two “copies” at all?) Some of my blog readers have already done this deal and recommend using the self-check to make sure all of your coupons are accepted. Dominick’s corporate policy allows the stores to decide to accept and not accept whatever they want… sometimes, unfortunately in the middle of your transaction. And that is why I find that policy rather frustrating.)
The Dominick’s deals run through 12/17.
Over to Meijer… if you’re planning to bake some cookies over the next weeks, you may want to pick up some baking supplies. Meijer’s selling a dozen eggs for just 88 cents, and a pound of butter for $1.88. No coupons needed! :)
Want Walgreens to PAY you to take some soup home? Well, that’s just what they’ll do all week long. Progresso soup is on sale for 99 cents a can with the coupon in Walgreens’ flier. Print two $1.10 off Progresso coupons and you’ll be getting free soup, plus 11 cents overage per can! Remember to buy something else to “eat up” the overage… the store isn’t going to vive you change back, PLUS free stuff… but free is GOOD!
If you want more Progresso, print these $1 off 2, or $2 off 4 coupons. You can get more soup at less than 50 cents a can… and while this is a “Limit 3” sale, remember that your sales limits are on variety. You can get 3 Chicken Noodle, 3 Vegetable, etc…
Switching gears now… to gift ideas! Last week I posted a bunch of great, inexpensive gift ideas, and evidently that portion of last week’s deals was well-read (& well-listened-to), as I had numerous people write to tell me they couldn’t find the hot dog toasters in stock at all! :) Oh well..!
Kicking the gifts portion of the deals off today… World Market is offering a free roll of gift wrap to anyone that walks in the door, while supplies last. No purchase necessary! And you all know how much I like FREE things!
Now, here are some of the best gift ideas of the week and where to get them:

If you are clothes shopping for the holidays, you ought to check out Steve and Barry’s… all of the S&B locations are going out of business, and while their prices were reasonable before, they’re headed into the ridiculously-cheap zone. If you haven’t shopped there before, it’s very much like Old Navy in the kinds of clothes they carry, but they have more celebrity-name lines of clothing too.
Anyway… here are some of the things we picked up at S&B’s during their liquidation sales:
$1.50 denim kids’ shorts
$2.50 men’s cargo shorts
$6.00 men’s sweaters
$3.00 men’s long-sleeve polos
$7.00 junior’s Amanda Bynes jeans
$4.00 junior’s shirts
$2.50 logo t-shirts
$6.98 Stephon Marbury basketball shoes
Some of the best deals are on winter coats! Their double-down-filled winter jackets are just $8.98 for women’s and $14.98 for men’s. How do you possibly beat buying a down coat for under $10 or $15? Most S&B locations plan to close within the next few weeks, so shop soon for some great deals.
And lastly… what is most certainly the dirtiest thing I’ve ever offered during Deals of the Week.
(Those easily offended may want to turn away now. But as your resident coupon queen, I feel compelled to report on what is free, even if it is somewhat risque..!)
Ready?
Target sells Durex Play packs, which contain a condom and a… vibrating “toy.” They are $4.74. Print this $5 off Durex Play coupon and you’ll be… well, I don’t really want to know what you’re going to do with this. But it will be FREE, with about a quarter in possible overage too.
And hey, won’t your loved one enjoy waking up and finding THIS in their stocking? Hee!
Happy shopping this week, everyone!

Jill,
Thank you so much for braving the bitter cold today to shop the deals for us all. It was a very unselfish thing to do. I hope you thaw out soon!

I just got back from Dominics. The $1 off internet Kellogg’s coupons don’t scan. They beep and the monitor says “do not recognize”. The manager was nice and said “well, I’ll override it just this once”. Hopefully Jewel will have an equally good sale soon.

The Durex coupon will provide some good stocking stuffers! Thanks, Jill, for the tip! I just tried the Riceworks link and it says webpage not found. Anyone else having luck with it? Also, Free Happy Baby organic baby meal coupon limit has been reached! Bummer! But it will give you a .50 off coupon.

Jill, I jsut went over my coupons and I have 10 coupons from the sunday insert papers.. I have enough couples without having to take any of the Internet coupons. Do you know if Dominicks will have an issue if I try using all of them even thought they are from paper inserts?
Do you know about the Dominicks on Randall Road and Huntley? This store is close to me but I don’t want to go if they are going to try to take 1 coupon.
Thank you

I just signed up and noticed that the fine print at the bottom of the page said each coupon was good one time. Is that per transaction, or does it disappear from the card once it’s been used? Just wondering for planing purposes. :) Thanks!

When the scanner beeps and it says, not recognized – it’s because coupons are getting more sophisticated and their software has not recently been upgraded. Luckily, I had a friendly and helpful cashier at the Jewel U-scan when this happened to me. During this transition, if you get that message, you need to cover the second (longer) barcode – the one with the numbers above it. It’s confusing the register. Just cover that second barcode and it will scan just fine

Hi Jill,
Am I missing something? I was very excited about the Tide deal at $3.49 but my calculations are different. If the Tide is $5.99 minus .50 PG minus $1.00 coupon, I calculate it as $4.49 not $3.49. Am I missing another dollar off somewhere?
Thanks!

I decided to be brave and stop at Dominicks to do the cereal deal. I had 10 coupons for 1.00 off each. (all from paper inserts)
Here’s what I bought.
5 boxes kellongs Special K (they have lots of varieties)
5 boxes Rice crispies/ some regular some chocolate
5 marshmellow bags (big & mini marshmellows)
peeled off the 1.00 off coupon off the rice crispy boxes.
I noticed that the $5.00 instant didn’t come off at the register so the cashier called 1 manager, he couldn’t figure it out so he called in another manager. My face was really RED by this time- the 2nd Mgr took my purchase to the front desk register and re-rang the sale and then $10.00 came off — Both manager apologized several times and the cashier (male) was really nice too.
I basically paid $7.68 with taxes the receipt shows saved total $44.06 86% off.
There was a gentleman at the service desk who heard when the manager said my total was 7.68 and he asked me how I did that..he couldn’t believe what I was taking home. I told him exactly what to do and he was so amazed. I left there feeling so good about my shopping trip.!
Ok, I’ll stop buying cereal now – I have 16 brand new boxes all different stuff too!
Jill, thank you so much, I will never shop the old way.

I went to get me free roll of wrapping paper yesterday and they told me that deal was this past Sunday. There were no free rolls left. This was the store in Naperville on 75th near Rte. 59.

I don’t see Rice Krispies listed as part of the Buy Any 5 Save $5 deal in my ad. Is there somewhere else I can look for a full list, or are the items included in the sale labeled on the shelves? Thanks.

The Glade Scented Oil Candles (3 pack) and Scented Oil Candle Holiday Holder are on Sale for $2 each at Walmart. Using a $2.50 off coupon for the the Holder it was FREE with $.50 overage which went towards the the candles making them $1.50. I’m not sure where the coupon was from (RP or SS) but it was in a recent Sunday paper.

Haven’t tried this yet, but thought I’d share it with you all and try it later tonight. Walgreens has above products on sale, B1G1 half off. Plus there’s a $5 coupon in this weekend’s paper (buy 2 cleansers and get $5 off /or buy 1 moisturizer). Then you can combine all this with an online mail in rebate of $15 from Olay! and really cash in. Here’s the website for the mail in rebate of $15… sorry don’t know how to add this fancy like Jill does:

OK, starting today, Meijer has Green Giant Steamers (12 oz) on sale for .79 cents. This combined with all the coupons out there, online and in the paper, you should be able to get a couple for under .30cents!
