“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)

For example, Scott paper towels, ScotTissue, and Scott wipes would all be in different categories. Or, buy 3 from 3 different categories and get a $3 Catalina!
Regular prices of all of these may vary by Jewel location, but these are the prices at my Jewel:
Scott Paper Towels: $1.34

– 2 12oz. packages of fresh cranberries are $2.98 with coupon – that’s $1.49 each.
– 2 3lb. bags of Michigan apples are $3.98 with coupon – that’s $1.99 per bag, or about .66/lb.
– FREE 16oz. Bake Shop Pan Bread when you buy 1/2lb. of DiLusso meat or cheese. There’s a $1 coupon for a 1/2 pound of DiLusso Genoa or Sopressata Salami in the 10/9 SS, or a general $1 off 1/2 pound of DiLusso meat or cheese printable too (must enter IL zip code to view the coupon.) With two books and two $3 manufacturer coupons, you’ll take $6 total off the price of your two hams. BUT READ THIS FIRST… apparently, not all Jewel-Osco stores even stock this ham. Reader Charlie Q writes, “Just a heads up, as ridiculous as it sounds, not all Jewels even carry this item. I went to SIX different stores and NONE of them carry it.”
– Carefree pantiliners (22ct.) are on sale for $1. Use the .30 store coupon and stack it with the .50 coupon from 11/6 SS. You’ll pay .20!

Jewel is running an “A Taste Of Home” mail-in promotion on P&G products. Buy $25 worth of P&G products in one transaction and receive a 2-piece cookware set and one cookbook of your choice via mail (view ad here.)
The cookware is a 12-quart tamale steamer, a 5-cup rice cooker, and one of the following cookbooks: “Fresh Mexico,” “Latin Grilling,” or “Cocina Cubana.” $25 worth of goods must be purchased in the same transaction, and you must submit a receipt from the same store you found the forms in (must be from Jewel – cannot use a Dominick’s receipt, etc.)
The offer runs through 4/30/12, so we have lots of time to line this up to Catalina sales too. Look for the forms for this rebate in Spanish/Latino Jewel locations.
UPDATE: The form for this offer is online too on another store’s website. Several readers called the number on the form and were told that printable versions would be accepted.

Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Jewel-Osco’s meat deals:
- Jewel chicken drumsticks or thighs are $1.49/lb.
- Perdue split chicken breasts are $1.79/lb.
- Hormel Always Tender bone-in pork chops are $1.99/lb.
Jewel seafood deals:
- Ocean Market 4oz. seafood fillets are $1 each – that’s $4/lb.
- 1lb. bags of Farm Stand baby-cut carrots are $1.49, Buy One Get One Free – that’s about .75/lb, a good price for these
- Bartlett or Bosc pears are $1.49/lb.
- Yellow squash or zucchini is $1.99/lb.
(Anytime meat is under $2 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $2 per pound is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices. This is also true for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less.)
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, support for previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s is also offering Deal Match, where you can load price-matching offers from Jewel and Target to your Fresh Values Card. Load these offers at www.Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also load some of these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?

12-packs of Coke products are on sale Buy 2 Get 2 Free, PLUS get 2 free bags of The Snack Artist chips (8.5-13oz.) If you have two free coupons for 12-packs from Coke Rewards (they just offered these again, so if yours show up before the end of this sale, you can do this!) take them over and buy FOUR 12-packs. Your coupons will cover the first two cases, and the other two will be FREE with the store’s sale.
Now, you’d think that would be FOUR free cases of Coke, but Dominick’s puts their 12-packs notoriously high during this sale at $5.99 each. Usually the Coke Rewards freebies are good up to $5, so you’ll pay .99 each for your first two packs, then get the other two free. That’s $1.98 for four 12-packs, or about .50 per case… plus FREE chips!
(We’ve tried several varieties of these during past deals, and the cheese tortilla chips were the ones we liked best — they’re a Doritos clone. I was really disappointed in the barbecue potato chips, which ordinarily I love. But these were salty as heck and we couldn’t even finish the bag. Go with the Doritos-like ones :)
“Buy 5, Save $5” instant-savings Mix and Match Buying 5 of the following items will generate $5 in instant savings! Dominick’s has again, as usual, included no prices in the ad. Prices shown are from Safeway’s online pricing guide, which is usually quite accurate to the prices at Dominick’s during these sales. 3lb. packages of Safeway Hickory Smoked Thick Sliced Bacon are $8.97 – that’s $2.99/lb. With bacon prices going crazy lately, this is pretty fair – plus, this is -really- good bacon. It’s thick and cooks up restaurant-style, and it’s by far my favorite thing I’ve discovered at Dominick’s this year.

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: The Schnucks ad cycle is a WEDNESDAY to TUESDAY ad, which means these deals run through TUESDAY, DECEMBER 6th.
“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
6-8oz. packages of Schnucks shredded cheese are $1.68
64oz. bottles of Old Orchard 100% Apple Juice are $1.50
Schnucks Brown & Serve Rolls are .99
Schnucks canned pumpkin is .88
Schnucks canned vegetables are .50
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
48oz. Crisco Oil is on sale for $2.50. Use the .50 coupon from 11/6 RP, which doubles to $1, and pay $1.50!
Nabisco Wheat Thins (5.5-9oz.) are on sale for $1.77. Buy two and use this $1 off 2 printable. (Look for $1-off-2 tearpads in the store too.) After coupon, you’ll pay $2.54 for two, or $1.27 each! There’s also a .75 off 2 in the 11/13 SS for more cheap crackers…
____________________
Margaritaville Shrimp (8-10oz.) selections are on sale for $7.99, Buy One Get One Free. Use this $1 printable (print 2!) Use one for each box, and you’ll pay $5.99 for two, or about $3 each!
Note: When Hilander was owned by Kroger, you could use one coupon on each item in a B1G1F situation. Since Schnucks took over, I have not yet tried this out on a B1G1F sale. If you do the deal, please let me know if the way Hilander is handling B1G1F sales has changed. Thank you!

Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad)…
For the past couple of years or so, Walgreens has run Register Rewards promotions around the holidays. Their “Jingle Cash” promo is back this year, and from 12/4-12/10, if you spend X, you get Y:
Spend $30, earn $5
Spend $50, earn $10
Spend $75, earn $15
Spend $100, earn $20
There is a TWIST though to the Jingle Cash this year. You must spend it the following week (12/11 through 12/17) and you must use it on a $30 minimum purchase. The ad also notes that there are other exclusions that will be printed on the coupon itself. In the past, the Jingle Cash have been STORE coupons, not manufacturer — and there is a possibility that the $30 minimum may also be POST COUPON, as some of their store coupons have also been worded this way in the past.
All things to consider before you go Jingle-Cashing. And now, on to the Walgreens deals…
There’s a new Walgreens store coupon book called “Make this Season Stunning.” If you find it, there’s a $1 off Revlon coupon inside that figures nicely into a deal on Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel this week. It’s on sale for $3.99. Buy it and get $3 back in Register Rewards! Use the $1 coupon in the book, pay $2.99 and get $3 back… making this FREE!
If you can’t find it, and you DIDN’T already use this coupon during the Black Friday sales, there’s also a $1 manufacturer coupon from the 10/9 Walmart Beauty ad for the same deal.
Here’s a deal on Dove Men Care deodorant. It’s on sale for $3.99. Buy it and get $3 back in Register Rewards! Use the .25 coupon from 11/13 RP. You’ll pay $3.74 and get $3 back, making this .74!
Ready for a diaper deal? Walgreens jumbo packs of diapers or training pants are on sale 2-for-$14. Buy two and get $2 back in Register Rewards! Now, if you have the Walgreens Infant Care coupon book (in-store from earlier this year) there’s a $2 coupon for these diapers in there. When it’s scanned, it takes $2 off EACH pack.
So, after coupon, pay $10 for 2 and get $2 back in RRs… that’s $8 for two, or $4 per pack! (Many Walgreens stores will let you keep a store coupon and re-use it over and over too – so it never hurts to ask for it back.)
Several varieties of holiday candies are on sale for .39 with the coupon in this week’s Wags ad. One of the items is the Snickers Nutcracker, which if you’ve been couponing for a while, you may remember as being free with a little coupon deal around this time of year last year..! Well, guess what… they are again. Print this $1-off-2 printable, stack it with the store coupon, and you’ll get two little nutcracker-shaped Snickers FREE!
“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
Twin-size airbeds are $9.99
Dozen cartons of Grade A Eggs are .99
12 double-rolls Real Soft bath tissue and 8-roll Tuf Paper Towels are both on sale for $5. This works out to .42 per double-roll toilet paper (a good price) and about .63 per paper towel roll, also a good price. (But not as good as Jewel’s prices on paper towels this week..!)
“Walgreens Store Coupon” Deals:
Big Roll 1000 sheet bath tissue is .59, limit 4, with coupon
Sharpie markers are .29, limit 5, with coupon
Holiday gift bags are 8-for-$1, limit 8, with coupon
There’s a coupon on the back page of the ad for $4 off all $9.99 toys, limit 3. The ad shows a Hot Wheels City Speedway, several Mickey Mouse plush and electronic toys, a Barbie set with a pink couch, and a pop-up Disney Princesses “play hideaway” child’s tent at this price.
And finally, over at CVS (View weekly ad) | Load SavingStar ecoupons
CVS is running a “Buy 2 Revlon cosmetics or beauty tools, get $6 in Extra Care Bucks” sale this week. Obviously, the cheapest thing to go with here are the tools, like nail clippers, files or tweezers. The emery boards are on sale for $3.29. Buy two and use the $1 coupon from 10/30 SS.
With one coupon, pay $5.58 and get $6 back… two FREE and a moneymaker! With two coupons, pay $4.58 and get $6 – an even better moneymaker!
Here’s a deal on Garnier Fructis shampoo, conditioners or stylers (1-13oz.) They’re on sale two-for-$6.98. Buy two and get $3 back in Extra Care Bucks! Buy two and use two $1 coupons from 10/30 RP or printables. You’ll pay $4.98 for two and get $3 back. That’s $1.98 for two, or .99 each!
Schick Quattro razors are involved in a “Spend $20, get $10 in ECBs” sale (along with Playtex products.) The easiest way to do this deal is to buy the Schick razors though. The 3ct. Schick Quattro Women’s razors are $9.99 at my store, and the 3ct. Schick Quattro Men’s Titanium razors are $10.99 at my store. There’s a Buy One Get One Free coupon for Schick disposable razors in the 11/6 SS.
So, buy two of whichever kind you prefer – but to get over $20, make sure at least one package is the men’s. For a men’s razor deal, pay $10.99 after coupon and get $10 back in ECBs… just .99 for two packages!
This week, scanning your ExtraCare card at the CVS Coupon Center will net you a $5-off-$20 coupon for any fragrance purchase. If you’re buying fragrances this season… save more.
New Gift Card Deals:
CVS has a “Spend $50, Get $10 in ECBs deal running on iTunes gift cards specifically – limit 1.
There’s also a “Spend $50, Get $10 in ECBs on $25 gift cards for DSW, Golfsmith, The Limited, or $14.95 Tech Support For Dummies gift cards. Limit 1.
And, there’s a “Buy 3 American Express Gift Cards, get $10 in ECBs” deal running. Limit 1.
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
CVS has a gift card promotion running. Through December 25, 2011, members of CVS/pharmacy’s ExtraCare Rewards program can earn $10 gift cards to Macy’s, Gap, Applebee’s, Shell Stations, American Express, Barnes & Noble or CVS/pharmacy each week simply by spending $30 on products clearly marked as part of the “Earn Free Gift Cards” promotion.
Your coupon(s) for free gift card(s) will print on your receipt immediately following qualifying purchase(s) of $30 or more. Gift card selections may vary by store. Limit 5 free $10 gift cards per cardholder per week.
(Did you catch that you can get CVS/pharmacy gift cards too? Perfect for rolling over into a future deal!)
What looks good to me this week?

– $2 off moisturizers – 12/4 RP, printable
– $1 off moisturizer – 11/6 RP
We had a similar deal not too long ago, but this is the best way to go with enough coupons:
Buy six $5 moisturizer gel-creams or lotions ($30.)
Use six $2 coupons.
Pay $18 and get a $10 gift card! That’s $8 for 6, or about $1.33 each!
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any of these deals. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

My question is, lets say I want to buy 5 Cheerios and 5 cinnamon toast crunch. How many coupons can I use for each of these? It confuses me trying to figure out how many coupons Jewel will let me use on these.

I did the 97cent J4U today at the Dominicks in Aurora and yesterday at the Oswego store and it did work. The Aurora store had the signs up stating they were 97cents through J4U underneath the prices of the lactose free (We even found lactose free chocolate milk there). They have been having trouble with the popular items not ringing up J4U prices. The cashier had to adjust the price manually for the milk, orange juice, and eggs.

So I was on the CVS website checking their coupons. I found a coupon for $3 off your purchase when you buy 3 Hallmark greeting cards. I printed it up and went on my Merry way.
When I went to my local CVS I found out they don’t carry Hallmark cards only American Greeting. I double checked with the customer service representative and she informed me that they only carry American Greeting cards. I showed her my coupon and she talked to her manager. The manager told her to go ahead and take the coupon. I love my CVS! I also got another $3 in EB.
