Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel and continuing from last week, let’s take home some FREE Reach dental floss this week! It’s on sale for $1, and with the $1 coupons from 8/2 SS, 10/4 RP, 10/18 RP, it’s FREE!
How about another freebie? Gillette Foamy shaving cream is on sale for $1, and there’s a $1 coupon in the 11/29 PG insert. I have long said that the personal care items are some of the easiest products to get for free with coupons, and this week is no exception. Enjoy this FREE shaving cream!
Jewel’s Fav 4 meat deal is back here too. Buy any 4 included meats for $19.99. The trick to this deal? Buy the smallest packages of meat that you find. This may seem contrary to what would make sense, but… try it and see what happens…
Idahoan instant potatoes are cheap this week too! They’re on sale for $1, and with this .40 coupon, they’re just .60 a package…
Revlon cosmetic products continue to be 50% off this week, and Jewel’s Avenu has an additional $1.50 off eye or nail products. Stack this with the $2 coupon from 11/15 SS and you’re getting $3.50 off some already-cheap makeup! Better yet, go for the nail polish, which is on sale for $2.40! With this coupon stack, you’ll get it FREE, plus $1.10 in overage for each bottle! Even the readers who don’t use nail polish will be buying it this week… ha! :)
Filippo Berio 17-oz. olive oil is a good deal this week too. It’s on sale for $3.99, and with a $1 printable it’s $2.99 – not bad at all for olive oil :)
Procter & Gamble Catalina deal: Jewel is currently running a $20/$5 promotion on selected P&G products through 12/9. Spend $20 and get a $5 Catalina for your next trip. Here are your included products and matchups. If you’re a spreadsheet person who likes to see every single UPC, flavor and item, you can also find that here… Always products $5.49 Aussie hair products $3.69 Bounce dryer bar $3.99 Bounce sheets $5.49 Bounty paper towels $10.99 Cascade dishwasher detergent $4.39 Charmin 18 big roll $10.99 Cover Girl 33% off Crest toothpaste $2.50 Dawn detergent $2.50 Downy liquid $5.49 Febreze $5.47 Febreze candles $13.99 Febreze reed diffuser $9.99 Herbal Essences $3.69 Iams cat food $7.99 Iams dog food, $17.99 Mr. Clean cleaners $2.99 Olay 20% off Old Spice Red Zone deodorants $3.69 Oral B toothbrushes $2.50 Pampers diapers or easy ups $18.99 Pringles super stack $1.50 Prilosec OTC 42pack – $24.99 Puffs tissue $1.50 Swiffer duster kits $7.99 Tampax products $5.49 Tide 100-oz detergent $10.99 Tide To Go $2.99 Tide Stain Release $10.99 |
Lastly, we are nearing the end of 2009! If you did the Jewel Freezer Deal this February and still have coupons for free items, don’t forget about them. Of course we want to use them during those good Buy One Get One Free sales, but if they haven’t lined up with any, better to use than lose.
Another good way to use them? To “pad up” your total and use a money-off coupon! Jewel recently mailed coupons out ($4 off $40, $8 off $80) to customers, and any free coupons make good fillers to get you up to that top dollar amount so you can use the dollars-off coupon.
Over at Dominick’s, note that some stores are offering 10% off any Safeway house brand products from now until the end of the year! I don’t have a complete list of which stores are participating (saw the signs at the Crystal Lake store) but it comes off automatically at the register when your Fresh Values card is scanned… and is a good way to bring prices of meats, dairy and other house-branded items down even more!
This week, there are good deals on Lucerne butter, cream cheese and milk. Butter is $1.99 a pound, limit 2. Cream cheese is .99 a package. And milk is $1.99 a gallon when you buy 2 gallon cartons. In the case of the milk, you must buy 2 to get the discount…
Some meats are on sale this week:
.99/lb – Fresh Safeway whole fryer chicken
$1.79/lb: Rancher’s Reserve boneless pork loin
$1.99/lb. Safeway Select boneless skinless chicken breasts
If you like seafood, look for a Waterfront Bistro stand-up display in the seafood department. It contains booklets with $2 coupons good for any Waterfront Bistro product. This week, these would be great items to use with these coupons…
$3.99 – 4 oz. Waterfront Bistro smoked salmon portions
$5.99 – 12oz. WB fish fillets (ad shows salmon, tilapia)
$6.99 – 1lb. bags of WB frozen shrimp
The prices of any of these will drop by $2 each with coupons!
Dominick’s is also running a “2 for $9.99 each” promotion on various items (front page of current flyer.) Best buy here? Purina Dog Chow. Two 15.5lb bags will cost you $19.98. Use coupons to bring this down a bit… 8/9 RP has a $2 coupon, and 10/11 SS and 10/18 SS have $1.50 coupons. With a $2 and a $1.50, you’re down to $16.48… and if you happened to add the $1 coupon from Cellfire last week (it is now gone) you’d be down to $15.48 – that’s $7.74 for each 15.5lb. bag.
This deal on Nivea lip balms has been going for a few weeks now, and I’m posting it with the caveat that your Dominick’s may NOT allow you to use the coupons in this way — some stores can be picky as to how they handle coupons for free items. But here’s the deal if you’d like to try…
Nivea lip balms are currently Buy One, Get One Free at Dominick’s. At most every other store, using a B1G1F coupon during a B1G1F sale nets you two for free (the store is reimbursed the full value of the total purchase price for 2 from the B1G1F coupon’s value.)
Use the B1G1F Nivea Lip Care coupon from 11/1 RP to get two for free. Now, if you’re a multiple-inserts person and have 2 coupons, use both and get four for free… AND, use the coupon for “Buy 3 Nivea Lip Care, get a free Nivea body lotion” coupon from the same 11/1 RP insert! I was able to do this successfully at my Dominick’s and ended up with 4 free lip balms, plus a free bottle of Nivea lotion! A nice deal if your store handles these coupons properly…
Forum reader Armymom reports that Dominick’s is running yet another great coupon/Catalina deal on Kleenex (and these have been running on and off for the past month — a great way to get well-stocked on Kleenex!) To do this deal, look for the “Healthy Savings” coupon book near the pharmacy. There’s a $2 off 4 Kleenex store coupon inside, and this can be stacked with one of many .50 off 3 Kleenex coupons out there (12/6 SS, 11/1 SS, 10/4 SS, 8/2 SS, 7/12 SS.) Buy 4 .99 boxes, use the above coupons and pay $1.48 for all 4… and get a $1 Catalina back! 4 boxes of Kleenex for .48 – or just .12 each!
Finally, Dominick’s has some Super Coupons in their ad again this week. These can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings, though some of them are great on their own too. Best bets this week?
.99 18-ct. Lucerne eggs
$1.49 Glade candles
The eggs are just… cheap! And the candles are a decent deal IF you’ve been unable to do the Target deal on them, and IF you don’t mind sending in a rebate.
Here’s the deal… use the $1.49 Super Coupon to buy 4 Glade jar candles. Use two $1.50 off 2 coupons (11/1 SS and 12/6 SS) to bring the price of all four candles to $2.96. Keep your receipt and send in for the Glade mail-in $5 rebate… and you get free candles!
A note on Dominick’s Super Coupons: All of the Super Coupons require a total purchase of $20 or more to use. But, the “Minimum $20 purchase” applies to the REGULAR, non-sale price of those items. Really! It’s even spelled out very well on Safeway’s corporate site:
What does “minimum $10 (or $20) purchase required” mean? To use store coupons that include a minimum purchase requirement, you must spend a minimum dollar amount on that shopping trip. You will reach the minimum purchase amount based upon total purchases before your Club Card discount is applied. This total will include the coupon item’s regular price, not the discounted price. For example, the regular retail price of a box of Cheerios (before coupon and before Club Card discounts) will count toward the minimum purchase required in order to use the Cheerios coupon.
So, knowing this, getting over that $20 mark isn’t as hard as it seems…
At Meijer, our longtime Forum member Recam spotted a fabulous deal on Hanes. Buy any 3 packages of Hanes socks, underwear or bras and get an instant $10 savings at checkout. Many packages of kids’ socks are $3.99 each — so, buy 3, and you’ll pay just $1.98. That’s a lot of cheap socks! Reader Noconnor reported women’s socks priced at $4.39 a pack – still an excellent deal if you don’t need socks for little ones… and remember that this is one per transaction. If you want more, split them into trips of 3 each.
Kraft Singles have a Catalina attached to them this week. Buy 3, get $3 back for your next shopping trip. The Singles are on sale for $1.99. Use the $1 off 2 coupon from 11/15 RP, buy 3 – pay $4.97 and get $3 back. 3 packages for $1.97, or about .66 each! Forum readers report that this Catalina does not roll, so if you plan to stock up, hold onto those $3 Catalinas for future grocery shopping…
Oscar Mayer bacon is cheap at Meijer this week (and we’ve seen pretty frequent deals on this these past few weeks!) It’s on sale for $2.69, and with the .75 coupon from 11/15 SS, it’s just $1.94 a pound!
Here’s a good deal on yogurt… and incidentally, it never ceases to amaze me how each time our yogurt supply starts to run low in the fridge, another yogurt deal comes along! This time, DanActive 4-packs are on sale for $1.99. With the $1 coupons from 12/6 SS and 11/1 SS, it’s just .99…
McCormick dry seasoning packets are on sale for .50 each. Meijer Mealbox has a coupon for $1 off 4. Buy 4 and take them home for a total of $1, or .25 each!
Good price on meat… Angus ground beef is $1.99/lb this week…
And, lastly, if you missed the Dominick’s 3-day sale on Tyson chicken nuggets and strips, here’s a similar deal at Meijer! 29-ounce Family Packs of Tyson Boneless Chicken are on sale for $3.99. Use the $1 coupon from 10/11 and pay $2.99 for nearly 2lbs. of chicken!
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
For my Rockford-area readers, Hilander has some good deals this week too. Oscar Mayer bacon is a good price here too. It’s on sale for $2.99, and with the .75 coupon from 11/15 SS, it’s just $2.24 a pound!
Want free pizza? Tony’s frozen pizzas are on sale for $1 each, already a GREAT price. But with the .50 coupon from 10/4 SS (which will double to $1) they’re FREE!
Idahoan instant potatoes are an even better deal at Hilander than Jewel. They’re on sale for $1, and with this .40 coupon, which will double to .80, they’re just .20 a package…
Meat deals at Hilander…
Chicken drumsticks or thighs are $1.19/lb…
Fresh Ground Chuck is $1.47/lb…
Tyson boneless skinless chicken breasts are $1.77lb…
I love hot chocolate when it’s cold outside (and truthfully… even when it’s not!) and this is pretty cheap… Swiss Miss is $1 a box. Buy 2, use the .50 off 2 coupon from 11/15 SS (which will double to $1), and pay $1 for 2, or .50 each!
Here’s a fun tidbit about Target… if you take reusable bags with for your shopping trip, you’ll get a .05 savings on your total for every bag you bring and use! We like free money :)
Here’s a good deal going on Keebler cookies and Sunshine crackers! They’re on sale for $2 each. Buy 5 and get a $5 Target gift card back! We’ll make this better with coupons…
– Save $1.00 on any 2 Keebler Fudge Shoppe Cookies
– Save $.75 on 1 Sunshine Cheez-It Whole Grain Snack Crackers
– Save $.75 on 1 Sunshine Cheez-It Snack Crackers (Duoz, Pepper Jack, Hot & Spicy, or White Cheddar)
Print 2 of each! 11/1 RP also has a $1 off 2 Keebler crackers coupon that you could work into this, and Target has a $1 off 3 Keebler cookies printable too (note that this one is NOT a Target store coupon, so you can’t stack it with a manufacturer coupon – it too is a manufacturer coupon.)
Now, here’s a scenario:
Buy 2 Keebler Fudge Shoppe
Buy 3 Sunshine Cheez-It crackers
Use the $1 off 2 Keebler coupon and 3 .75 Cheez-It coupons.
Pay $6.75 and get $5 back! That’s a lot of cookies and crackers for $1.75, or .35 each!
AND… if you’re a rebate person, send in for this $10 rebate for a toy of your choice for buying 5 included products! If you want to do this rebate, make sure the items you buy have the Toys For Cash tokens on the boxes.
Forum reader Clipsalot spotted a great deal on Swiss Miss that will not only net you FREE hot cocoa, but overage too… Swiss Miss is currently selling for .97 a box at many Target stores. Use the $1 off Swiss Miss Target coupon (already making it free) stacked with the $.50 off 2 Swiss Miss coupon from 11/15 SS. Buy 2 boxes and pay nothing… with .06 overage! If your Target will allow you to use a second $1 Target coupon on the second box (some stick tight to one Target coupon per transaction) you’ll get $1.06 overage for your two.
Every winter we see good and crazy deals on Glade products, and this winter is no exception. Target’s got a promo running on Holiday Glade products, now reportedly through 12/26. Buy any 5 Holiday Glade products at $2.50 each and get a $5 Target gift card.
The 11/1 SS and 12/6 has MANY more Glade coupons for you to work into this deal too, including B1G1Fs for candles, scented oil warmers, and more… And, many of the candle tins have $1.50 coupons inside too. (DON’T open the tins before you buy them… buy first, then use the other coupons to do another round…)
There’s also a $5 rebate you can work in this too for buying any 3 Glade products! You can send this rebate in 3 times, but you do need 3 separate receipts, so split orders up if you’re planning a crazy candle stock-up!
Here’s a possible scenario:
Buy two Glade Scented Oil tin candle holders
Buy 3 Glade Scented Oil candle refills
Total: $12.50
Use two “Buy Scented Oil Holder, get Refills Free” coupons from 12/6 SS and 11/1 SS. Then, use the “Buy 2 Scented Oil refills, get a 3rd free” from 11/1 SS. After coupons, pay $5 and get a $5 gift card back! FREE candles… AND you can send in for the $5 rebate too…make it a moneymaker!
You could use this scenario if you prefer the small, glass jarred candles:
Buy 5 Glade jar candles
Use the $1.50 off 2 coupons from 12/6 SS and 11/1 SS.
Pay $9.50 and get a $5 Target gift card back. You’ve now paid $4.50 for your jar candles… and you can send the receipt in for a $5 rebate. Even with the cost of the stamp, your candles will still be FREE!
Remember, you MUST buy holiday scents to receive the gift card. You can scan the candles at the price checker in the store to verify they’re holiday scents and part of the gift card deal.
Let’s talk Kmart! I’ve been getting email from people wondering when their super double coupons are coming back. I’ve even heard some stores are running doubles every day through mid-December.
So here’s the scoop. Some Kmart locations are indeed running double coupon promotions through December 19th. The bad news for my Chicagoland audience..? This is currently a Michigan-only promotion.
But if you happen to be reading from Michigan… here’s the deal. You can double up to 5 coupons per day, up to and including $2 coupons. You also need to sign up for the free Shop Your Way card at Kmart. The cashier will need to scan your card at the beginning of the transaction to enable the doubling.
So there you go… I’ll keep you posted if I learn of any more Kmart doubles promotions!

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically 20-30 of them. Many websites are now tracking the All You coupons and matching them to deals, just as they do with the newspaper coupon inserts. You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

As I posted elsewhere on this forum, the kleenex pharmacy Q requires you to spend at least $20, it says it right on the coupon. The coupon may only take off .01 cent, so definitely look at your receipt. Everytime I try to do this deal, something doesn’t go right, and different managers will have different reactions. Some enforce the $20 minimum purchase, some don’t. Some just adjust your coupon for you, some don’t. Just be careful.

If you take any of the joint supplements, you know they can be pricey.
Walgreens has Osteo brand BOGO, good deal. Sign up at their site and get a $5 off, plus hit the back arrow <- and you can print a 2nd. Just like other coupons you can at least print 2. Not bad BOGO + 2 $5 coupons.

The 11/1 RP has a $1/2 coupon on any Keebler cracker. Many of these are included in the $5 GC deal at Target.

I followed the link for the cheez-it Qs and it was only offering me the duoz-hot cheese, etc Q. No whole grain cheez it Q.

Can someone explain to me why you would want to select the smallest packages of meat you can find?

I always did so well with the black belt deals and saved so much money for my family. I never have complained and if it didn’t work, then I just took the product home and figured out what went wrong when I went home so I would learn for the next time. Is there no more black belt deals on this site anymore because of the complainers? Just wondering Jill. I really miss your suggestions for black belt deals. I went to both classes but I am still a yellow belt and have a hard time figuring it out of my own :(

Went to Meijers and bought 3 – 16 slice/12oz packs of Kraft Singles at $1.49 each equals $4.47 less $1.00 coupon from 11/15 RP equals $3.47 and I received the $3.00 OYNO CAT. Yeah! 3 packs of cheese slices for $.47. Lots of grilled cheese for the kids to go along with the great deal on tomato soup from Jewel awhile back.

I noticed that Dominics has tartar sauce & cocktail sauce Waterfront Bistro brand on sale at $1.99. Use $2 coupons, that Jill says found on display at the seafood department. Coupons says “with minimum $10 purchase“, but doesn’t specify if it has to be Waterfront Bistro purchase or anything else.
I actually used it twice without even getting to $10 limit. Both times they scanned without any problems.
dancingwolves says
was the sale over already? Went today Wednesday 12/9/09 and the price was $1.29 sale. Still good and had Qs to cover but was the $1 limited to only certain stores and/or a 3-day special? Thanks.

Jill – over the weekend my purse went missing. Of course that means a ton of headache with the new drivers license and canceling everything that was in my purse, but aside from the missing Christmas cash, what I am mourning most is my coupons. Last January I attended your class for the first time. I have really gotten this couponing thing down since then in no small part from you. Thank you. If I hadn’t been working at it all year long, this hit would’ve been far worse. Hopefully soon that 12 week cycle will come and go and I can stop mourning all the coupons and the deals they offer that have disappeared out of my life.

for some reason, dom’s put a superQ in their insert for $2 off of 4 kleenex.. in ADDITION to the health booklet that has the $2 off of 4 kleenex…. both appear to be store Qs. since last week’s Kleenex deal was so good, would this make it a money maker? Can you stack two STORE Qs like this at dom’s??
(both kleenex Qs read $20 min. purchase – so same wording as the health booklet Q) the booklet’s Q expires at the end of this month, the insert Q only lasts the length of the insert.. until 12/16.
