2012 FREEZER DEAL participants: If you purchased a chest freezer during Jewel’s annual freezer deal this year, you received a coupon book containing FREE coupons for a variety of products. The best way to utilize these coupons is to wait until the coupon items go on sale buy one, get one free at the store.

This week, DeWafelbakkers waffles or pancakes (18-60ct.) are on sale for $3.79, Buy One Get One Free. Use the coupon for one FREE DeWafelbakkers from the freezer book and get TWO free!

If you didn’t do the freezer deal, but you’re on Facebook, DeWafelbakkers is still a good deal. Head over to their Facebook page and print two $1 coupons for DeWafelbakkers Pancakes. Buy two packages. With two coupons, you’ll pay $1.79 for two, or about .90 each!

Hills Bros. and Chock Full O’ Nuts Coffee (27.8-33.9oz.) is on sale for $6.99. Buy Hills Bros. and use the .55 coupon from 1/22 SS and pay $6.44. Or, go with the Chock Full O’ Nuts and use this .75 ecoupon. This drops it to $6.24!

VALENTINE DEAL: If you’re buying cards for Valentine’s Day, there’s a coupon on the front page of the Jewel ad for 1 FREE plus Valentine’s Day bear when you buy 3 American Greetings’ cards $1.99 or more in price.

The Jewel-Osco “Wish Big Win Big” game is over. You have until 2/15 to redeem any coupons for prizes or products. One deal that I spotted that looked decent this week is on the Shoppers Value spice shakers. They’re on sale for $1. I have quite a few .25 coupons for these in my game tickets, and .75 isn’t terrible for spice.

SavingStar has a cool new ecoupon offer up. Spend $15.00 on selected Quaker products in February, and get $5.00 back. This deal includes This is one of SavingStar’s “One Or Many” offers, meaning that you can buy some during one trip, some during another and even buy products at different SavingStar-participating stores.

This deal runs through 2/29. Load this Quaker ecoupon offer at SavingStar. AND… it overlaps with this week’s Jewel “The More You Shop, The More You Save” Catalina offer…

There’s a “Spend $15, Get $5 Catalina” sale on Dove and Degree products. I think the prices are kind of high for this sale, and the only coupons available are $1 coupons… I’m passing.

Skippy Peanut Butter (15-16.3oz.) is on sale for $1.99. With the crazy rise in peanut butter prices lately, this is the lowest it’s been in a while. (If you prefer Jif, head to Walgreens this week, where 18oz. jars are $2 after their deal.)

Doritos (11.5-12oz.) are 2-for-$4 when you buy two. You MUST buy two to receive this price.

Taste of Home FREE Cookbook, 5-cup Rice Cooker and 12-quart Tamale Steamer P&G Promotion

Jewel is running an “A Taste Of Home” mail-in promotion on P&G products. Buy $25 worth of P&G products in one transaction and receive a 2-piece cookware set and one cookbook of your choice via mail (view ad here.)

The cookware is a 12-quart tamale steamer, a 5-cup rice cooker, and one of the following cookbooks: “Fresh Mexico,” “Latin Grilling,” or “Cocina Cubana.” $25 worth of goods must be purchased in the same transaction, and you must submit a receipt from the same store you found the forms in (must be from Jewel – cannot use a Dominick’s receipt, etc.)

The offer runs through 4/30/12. Look for the forms for this rebate in Spanish/Latino Jewel locations.

The form for this offer is online too on another store’s website. Several readers called the number on the form and were told that printable versions would be accepted.

UPDATE! On 2/11, I received my A Taste of Home package. It contained the rice cooker, the “Latin Grilling” cookbook I chose, and a note stating that due to overwhelming demand, the tamale steamer will not be available until June 2012, so it will ship separately.

The card is free, and any time your child shops with you, he or she can get a FREE small Red Delicious apple or a free banana by scanning the card at checkout. Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. I began checking prices on these against Safeway’s online delivery guide (as once again, there are no prices in the ad) and nothing’s jumping out at me. In the interest of time, I won’t blog what’s not a deal…

Are you a Meijer Mperks member? Mperks is a different set of electronic Meijer coupons. They’re attached to your cellphone number, but aside from one text message to activate your account, you do not need to use text messaging to continually use them. Once you register with Meijer Mperks, you log into the Mperks website and click the electronic coupons you’d like to load to your account. Then, when you’re at the checkout, type your cellphone number into the keypad at the register, and your coupons come off automatically.

VALENTINE IDEA: Dozen bunches of roses are $15.

AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

Kroger is surprisingly light on deals this week. They are running a “Quarter Back” Catalina promotion in which you get $1 back for every 4 participating items purchased. However, getting .25 back for each item is… well… pretty weak. I didn’t blog this one due to lack of deals.

The front page of the Kroger ad is showing a special on Hallmark cards: Buy 3 cards and save $1.50 on your groceries instantly. The ad does NOT state that .99 cards are excluded. So, buy three .99 cards, and after instant-savings, you’ll pay $1.47 for three, or .49 each!

Kroger is doing a Freezer Deal this week! Their freezer is a 5.0 cubic foot Haier chest freezer. It’s on sale for $159 with a $10 mail-in rebate. There are no coupons or other incentives involved according to the ad.

The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.

Reader Kelley sends over a deal on Q-Tips! Q-Tips and other products are involved in a “Buy 4, Get $5 Target Gift Card” deal. The ad shows a large, 750ct. Q-Tip package priced at $4.79, with the note that other sizes of Q-Tips are also included in the deal.

Well, Kelley writes that the 375ct. Q-Tips are on sale for $2.69. There is a .30 coupon in the 1/29 RP2. If you have four .30 coupons, pay $9.56 and get a $5 Target gift card back. That’s $4.56 for four, or $1.14 each.

NEW: IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WALGREENS AD: If you thought this week’s Walgreens flyer looked a little light, you were right. The print ad has 12 pages, but the online ad has 18 pages. Evidently this is what Walgreens is going to be doing from now on, and I can’t say I’m thrilled about it. There are so many scenarios I can envision where one might want to refer back to the ad while in the store, and now a third of the ad won’t be available for shoppers to do that. Price-matching the Walgreens ad at another store will also be more difficult when much of the ad is missing.

I will be noting the online-ad-only deals with the “Bonus Buys” icon shown at right. This is the same icon Walgreens is also using in their online-only ad pages.

LypSyl Extreme Cold Sore Relief (.3oz.) is on sale for $5. Buy it and get $5 back in Register Rewards, making it FREE!

Charmin Basic bath tissue (12 double rolls) or Bounty paper towels (6 rolls) are on sale for $5.99. Buy one and get $1 back in Register Rewards! Use the .25 coupon from 1/29 PG for either item. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…

Deals continuing from previous weeks:

Did you see the nice new $5 Purina One Beyond dog food coupon in the 1/15 SS? 3.5lb. bags sell for about $6.49 at Walmart (that’s what they were priced at in my area, anyway.) Use the coupon and pay $1.49!

Policies to know:

• Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
   
• With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
   
• With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
   
• Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
   

I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
