CHECK your January All You!
If you are a “Black Belt” coupon shopper, you may like these Black Belt Scenarios for the ConAgra$25/$10. This is such a crazy sale that even new couponers will be tempted to jump in and try playing the price spread in the “Black Belt” way to take home much for little. (It IS hard to resist so many cheap and FREE groceries!) if you choose to, PLEASE, please read and abide by all of the warnings I’ve posted. These sales are crazy enough for the store associates without people becoming demanding in the lane when things don’t quite go your way. If you are willing to assume ALL risks, head on over…
“No Coupon Needed” Deals
Jewel Apple Sauce (23-25oz.) is $1.50 a jar.
Jewel Marshmallows (10-10.5oz.) are .79 a bag.
Old Orchard 100% apple juice is on sale for $3.49, B1G1F – that’s about $1.75 a bottle. If you didn’t stock up like crazy during the .54 Mott’s deal at Dominick’s a few weeks ago, this isn’t a terrible price.
Shoppers Value 4-roll bath tissue is $1.
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
MORE FREE PASTA! Ronzoni Garden Delight is on sale for $1 again, and if you think you already used your $1 coupons for this the last time it was on sale, check again… because there was a NEW $1 off Ronzoni Garden Delight coupon in the 1/23 SS! It’s FREE!
And, if you don’t have a lot of pasta in your stockpile, clip both of the other $1-off-2 Ronzoni coupons on the same page — Ronzoni Smart Taste and Ronzoni Healthy Harvest are also all on sale for $1 a box. You can stock up on even more with these coupons for .50/box.
Reader Blackvanilla found more $1-off-2 printables too! Click “Promotions and Coupons” after printing the first coupon you see for even more $1-off-2s.
Little gift card deal: Through 2/16, you’ll get a $5 Catalina when you buy $25 worth of gift cards for AMC Theaters, Applebee’s, Catherine’s, Fashion Bug, iTunes, MasterCard, Olive Garden, Sears, SpaFinder or Visa.
Jewel-Osco information:
Jewel-Osco has a Facebook page. If you have questions directly for corporate, you can ask them there (and they answer promptly!)
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list yet? Jewel has been making coupons available for many different products over the past few months, and they’re usually store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with too. I’d recommend getting on their list if you shop there.
Coupon books currently found at Jewel:
Value Your Heart – $35 worth of coupons, including one for a free 8-pack of Coke when you buy 3 12-packs
Jewel meat deals:
- 3lb. chubs of Jennie-O Ground Turkey are $4.99 – that’s $1.66/lb., a great price for ground turkey!
- Perdue chicken drumsticks or thighs are $1.69/lb.
Jewel produce deals:
- 5lb. bags of red grapefruit are $3.49 – that’s about .70/lb.
- 3lb. bags of Cara Cara oranges are $3.49 – that’s about $1.16/lb.
- 3lb. bags of Clementines are $4.99 – that’s $1.66/lb.
- Organic Anjou pears are $1.79/lb.
- 1lb. bags of Wild Harvest organic baby-cut carrots are $1.99
(Anytime meat is under $1.99 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $1.99 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices — ditto for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less for fish or shrimp.)
Let’s go to Dominick’s (View weekly ad)…
Note to my Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Note that at the time of this writing, there are three issues that may concern you as a Dominick’s shopper: a register update that is now notifying the cashier when you use expired coupons, Dominick’s has responded that the “locked in” Just For U offers’ prices really weren’t “locked in,” and Dominick’s explanation as to why store coupons scan at .01 at the register.
Dominick’s Facebook page has also exploded over the last week, with shoppers venting about a variety of long-running issues at the stores relating to coupon acceptance and customer service. Feel free to join in the conversation… it’s been interesting, to say the least.
At any rate, based on my conversation with Dominick’s corporate, because Dominick’s registers are now notifying cashiers when expired coupons are scanned, and the cashiers have been instructed not to allow them, I am no longer blogging deals involving expired coupons at Dominick’s.
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also now load these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the oter Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the stores are newer, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.

Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad)…
Kicking off Walgreens this week, the hot deal is on Walgreens store-brand diapers! (And if you’ve never used these, I can vouch for their quality — they’re comparable to Huggies, and my boys wore a lot of these when they were in diapers.)
Reader MomWifeNurse spotted this super deal… the Walgreens diapers are on sale for $8.99 a pack, Buy One Get One Free. That knocks them to an already-respectable $4.50 a package. But there are coupons that make this deal even nicer. Walgreens has a new coupon book called “Walgreens Infant Care” in stores which has, among other things, a $2 coupon for Walgreens diapers! With two booklets and two $2 coupons (use one on each package of diapers) you’ll pay $4.99 for two, or about $2.50 a pack!
UPDATE: Readers are reporting that the $2 coupon is only scanning off ONE package of diapers. (I was wondering if this would be the case, as normally, a Walgreens store coupon will ring off every like item there. But in a B1G1F situation, it’s kind of up to the register’s programming.) Walgreens’ coupon policy DOES allow one coupon on each item in a B1G1F situation, but the cashier will MANUALLY have to add the second $2 deduction. If they do not wish to do this, you’ll pay $6.99 for two, or $3.50 a pack – still a deal!
Want two FREE Reach toothbrushes? Reach toothbrushes are on sale for $2.99, with $2 back in Register Rewards. Now, you do only get one $2 RR back per transaction, but we’re going to buy TWO toothbrushes anyway. Why? Because they’ll both be free with this little coupon deal. Grab your 10/10/10 RP insert, and inside you’ll find both a $1 off Reach toothbrushes coupon AND a B1G1F Reach toothbrushes coupon.
Use the $1 off on your first toothbrush (now $1.99.) Use the B1G1F coupon on your second toothbrush (now free.) Pay $1.99 for both and get a $2 RR! Enjoy your two free toothbrushes!
Here’s another deal on Reach floss. It’s also on sale for $2.99 with $2 back in RRs. Use the $1 Reach Floss coupon from 10/10/10 RP, pay $1.99 and get $2 back. FREE floss too!
(Note that you cannot do this in the same transaction as the Reach toothbrushes – you will only receive ONE Reach RR per transaction.)
Kettle potato chips are on sale for $1.50 (small bag.) Use the $1 coupons from 1/30 RP2 or 1/2 RP and pay .50!
Skintimate Shaving Gel is on sale for $2.49 with $1 back in RRs. Use the $1 coupon from 1/16 SS, pay $1.49 and get .$1 back. That drops the price to just .49!
Optimum Care hair relaxer kits are on sale for $5.99 with $4 back in Register Rewards. Use this $2 coupon, pay $3.99 and get $4 back. It’s FREE!
Quaker Quick Oats are on sale for $1.50. Use the $1 coupon from 1/2 RP and pay .50!
Here’s a little deal on Jell-O that we saw a couple of weeks ago, but it’s back again! Jell-O is on sale for .50 a box with the store coupon in this week’s Walgreens ad. If you have the “Deliciously Simple Holiday Recipes” coupon books, available at Jewel and Dominick’s around the holidays, there’s a $1.25-off-3 Jell-O coupon inside. With this, you will pay .25 for THREE, or about .08 a box!
Chex Party Mix is $1.50 a bag. Use the $1 coupon from the Dominick’s $70 Playbook and pay .50!
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
The Lysol No-Touch hand soap dispenser is on sale for $11.99. Buy it and get $7 back in Register Rewards. Use the $3 coupon from 2/13 SS or a printable, pay $8.99 and get $7 back. You’ll pay just $1.99 for pump-free soap washing!
If you’re really in need of a razor (I say this because we often see these cheaper/free) Gillette Fusion ProGlide razors are on sale for $9.99 each, with $4 back in Register Rewards. Use the $4 coupon from the 1/30 PG, pay $5.99 and get $4 back, making the razor $1.99 after all discounts.
Coupon booklets currently found at Walgreens
Walgreens Infant Care – has a very nice $2 coupon inside for Walgreens brand diapers, which often go on sale. All expire 12/2011.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Oh it’s going to be such a long week with that Jewel catalina. Already done 3 transactions!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
wendysdeals says
I bought two papers this week. I guess you can say Happy Valentine’s Day since I had two flyer packs in each when I got home! Then was the disappointing part….I have 4 total SS and GM this week, but none of the packs have the Red Plum in them! Or any store sale flyers for that matter. Did anyone else get disappointed too?? I really could have used the $3 Gain coupon!
msuboxhead says
Jill, thanks for posting early. It helps me to get my coupons clipped and be able to run deals during lunch on Monday or on my way home from work. Happy Valentine;s Day.

The last time I was able to get a ConAgra book, I had to buy my stuff at WalMart, specifically – is that the case with the new offer?

The wags diaper wipes are also BOGO and many have a “2$ off wags diapers and wipes” peelie on them. This is a man.Q which can be stacked with the 2$ Q from the infant care book(only need one coupon of these). These peelies can also be used on the free packs! Such an amazing deal! I get an extra 20%off at wags so it ends up to be around 50cents per pack of diapers or wipes!! I think without that it is still around 1$ each! This is the cheapest I have seen them!

Can I do more than one transaction and continue to enter my phone number to get the Nestle Refrigerated cookie dough coupon or is it a one time thing?

I realize it is part of the conagra but the spread is low and it cost $2.99 to begin with, which is a lot.

FYI… My Jewel (in Glenview) has family packs of boneless, skinless chicken breast on sale for $1.88/lb. I didn’t see this in their ads, but they had a whole case of them.

At the Crystal lake store they have a sign by the SM hot chocolate that you can only purchase 4 at a time. But they also have the 10/10 sign right next to it.That does not seem right to me.I think that is false advertising.I did not complain but I do feel that is wrong.Any other stores limiting this?
mocars2 says
I don’t see it in My Trib one either OR on couponTom. But Jill wrote below it was in a out of state paper. Can we get that printed from target or a generator?

On Sunday, I went to the Jewel in Stickney. Made the necessary purchases of $25.00 (after the coupons were applied) however, my $10.00 coupon did not print out. I had to go to the service counter, where my tape was reviewed (they added up all the purchases that qualified and deducted the coupons) than they printed my coupon for $10.00. So it is best to keep your eyes on this.
zobotzobot says
Hey Jill, Just wanted to let you know the $2 coupon must have reached its print limit. It’s now printing $1 off 3 with an expiration date of Feb 10, 2011. Tisk, tisk American Greetings! Can’t use an expired coupon anywhere, especially Targilla.

I have been to 3 different Walgreens locations, and the employees look at me like I am crazy when I ask about the coupon books. On another site similar to JC, they seem to be having problems finding the books, too. Not sure what to do, but I need diapers, and would rather have cheap ones.
Thanks Jill for all the work you do for these posts. You are awesome!

I noticed this deal on the back page of Sunday’s Jewel ad. Spend $25 in gift cards, get $5 on your next shopping trip.
What I like is Visa and Mastercard are 2 cards included in the deal. Both accepted just about anywhere.

Thanks for letting me know. I live right by about 12 Walgreens stores, so I will just keep on trying. Hopefully they arrive before the sale ends.

anyone seen the ‘great’ deal for Wesson oil at Dominicks this week?! ;)
KLK7 says
and there are the charges and all sorts of terms and conditions. i believe it was a $10 back on $50 of gc purchase plus a purchase of a floral bouquet . I had a $5 off bouquet on my Just4U(which I needed for my daughter’s school project) and couldn’t get it to work despite numerous attempts and finally a manager override. Didn’t want to take the chance with the giftcards after almost 2 hours in Dom’s and the headache with the flowers.

Today I tried using the $2 Optimum Care hair relaxer kit coupon at Walgreens but the manager said it looked like a copy and that other coupons (like the coupons.com coupons) have certain markings on it. I explained that I printed it out and that’s what it was and that I’ve used plenty of coupons at other stores similar to that. She was saying that they get coupon fraud and coupons get sent back to them. She also had a problem with me having use recycled paper (there was print on the back). She said that that coupon was against there coupon policy (I hadn’t yet read their coupon policy to be able to refute that.) But all their coupon policy says is “Walgreens accepts valid internet/print at home coupons,” on that matter. How should I handle situations like this and how do I prove a printable coupon is valid? Is the burden of proof on me?

Despite what is being said about them here, Dominick’s gave an entire semi-truck-load of fresh (not expired) dairy and meats to the Bolingbrook Pantry at 999 Remington last week, enabling us to bless hundreds of families with fresh milk, cheese, sandwich meats, biscuits, etc. I guess it was write off for them, but if you could have experienced the joy of the recipients you might just cut Dominick’s a bit of slack…
