Hello, Super-Couponers! Can you believe there are only 21 days left until the first day of Spring? Chicagoland has had such a mild winter that I kind of thought that springtime might show up a little earlier (despite what the calendar says.) And then… 6-8″ of snow was dropped on us again. It was gorgeous to wake up to snow-covered trees and a winter wonderland again on Friday morning though. And, of course, my kids are enjoying the recent snow again.

“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspaper to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Jewel is in the process of upgrading their registers, and when the registers have been upgraded, the deals will work on a post-coupon total, as the ad says. Taste of Home FREE Cookbook, 5-cup Rice Cooker and 12-quart Tamale Steamer P&G Promotion
Jewel is running an “A Taste Of Home” mail-in promotion on P&G products. Buy $25 worth of P&G products in one transaction and receive a 2-piece cookware set and one cookbook of your choice via mail (view ad here.)
The cookware is a 12-quart tamale steamer, a 5-cup rice cooker, and one of the following cookbooks: “Fresh Mexico,” “Latin Grilling,” or “Cocina Cubana.” $25 worth of goods must be purchased in the same transaction, and you must submit a receipt from the same store you found the forms in (must be from Jewel – cannot use a Dominick’s receipt, etc.)
The offer runs through 4/30/12. Look for the forms for this rebate in Spanish/Latino Jewel locations.
The form for this offer is online too on another store’s website. Several readers called the number on the form and were told that printable versions would be accepted.
UPDATE! On 2/11, I received my A Taste of Home package. It contained the rice cooker, the “Latin Grilling” cookbook I chose, and a note stating that due to overwhelming demand, the tamale steamer will not be available until June 2012, so it will ship separately.

If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
The current ad is good through TUESDAY, Feb. 28th.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Jill, I’ve attended your classes and began couponing because of you. Today, I tried to purchase the Schick razors at the Target on Lake Cook Rd. in Wheeling to get the $5 gift card. The store manager refused my coupons ($4 off 1 from this week’s SS) and called me a scam artist in front of all the customers. How would you handle that?

Thanks for getting the deals done so early.

for some reason, this deal is not limited to 1 per card, like usual. i was able to keep rolling my $4.00 ECB into the next transaction. i never got an “offer limit reached” at the end of my receipt. i did the transaction a few times at different stores. just thought i’d share! =)

They have also limited the number of coupons you can use.. They have some poor management. This week they informed me that I was not allowed to use a manufacture coupon n a target coupon on a clearance item because it will make it free.. so disappointed with Target!!

Anyone know anything about this one?
I appreciate any support of my habit! I Love the BBQ jalapeno!!

They just keep changing what made us all chooose them as our favorite store. Can’t believe the cats are after coupons now. Like Jill says, coupons are like cash and they get reimbursed. If they stop taking Wags RRs that will be the last straw and I will no longer be shopping there.
lindabee says
If your Jewel has had the register update they will not accept 2 coupons for BOGO items. This happened to me last week with the Gortons fish. The register accepted the coupon but when I looked at the receipt it showed zero value for the second coupon. Customer service told me that this was always their policy.I asked why the register accepted the coupon and did not beep. They said that they only had the new system for three days but would look into why it had not beeped so that people do not use their coupons but receive no credit. They returned my second coupon and said they were sorry. Well another change. At least they are always nice about it at my local Jewel.

I hate these companies that make you fill out all the info and give them your Email and such and then you click on print and get a reply like this one does – Sorry, this coupon program is no longer available.
I had the same type of stuff yesterday on facebook with aunt Jemima page – filled out all the info then they tell you none are available to print.

I have both the 2/5 and the 1/8 GM but the coupons I have say $.30/1 Pillsbury Sweet rolls or Grand Sweet Rolls. I do see The $.30/2 on Grands Biscuits. The Super Coupon says Grand Biscuits but does not mention Grand Sweet Rolls. Does the $.30/1 match up with the Super coupon?

So do I need to have multiple walgreens coupons for what i want to buy. For instance some say ‘limit 2’. Is that coupon enough for two or do I need to have two separate coupons?

I just Marie Callender’s Frozen individual meals for $.55 at Domincks. In my J4U I had them at $1.96 each, used the 30% off frozen coupon and they came up .55 each. It took the 30% off the full price.

I bought 4 boxes of Nature Valley granola bars which are currently $1.79 with super coupon and used 75 cents off 2 from the 1/8 GM. I then received a $2 off your next purchase cat. So around 92 cents a box! Also at Jewel they had the 60 ct. Viactiv chews (caramel) for $4.49 with a $3 cat OYNO, so I used the $2 off coupon in 1/8 S1 making it a moneymaker!

I assume they are bagged? Last time they were on sale, I checked around the deli, and in the prepared dough/crescent roll area… and asked for help. 3 people could not locate it for me.
I would really appreciate some help… I’ll be shopping in crystal lake.
And, I’m really appalled by the target story. Limiting coupons to 4 or such small number, is ridiculous… when you can go elsewhere. They seem like they are being “empowered” to limit high value coupons. They are getting reimbursed right, why the hostility?

Do the “Deal Match” on Dominicks site for the cereal deal from Jewel which is on sale for $1.99 each. Then, Dominikcs site has a coupon for $1.00 off cocoa puffs. Looks to be the correct sizes to me. Take you down to .99 CEREAL!

I have found that the amount of coupons available in the current All You magazines have drastically diminished making it not such a great resource to obtain coupons. The articles are also very repetitive. No one that I know is renewing this magazine. Probably not a good idea to keep promoting it. Not a good bargain anymore!!

Jill, I was just picking out coupons. There is a $1 coupon on the back of the pepsi flyer. The OJ is part of the Buy 10, get $5 in your list. Just thought I’d post, didn’t see it mentioned.
*couponTom info: Trop50 Orange Juice (59oz.) – $2.49

Hi Jill, I went to Jewel tonight and tried the Buy 10, Save $5. The $5 didn’t come off, so I checked the ad. Nabisco wasn’t mentioned in that deal but was listed under a different deal, and 4 of my 10 items were Nabisco. Does your ad say something different? I plan on returning items tomorrow, and I just want to make sure. Thanks!

I just tried using the 30% off frozen food Dominick’s store Q at Jewel and was told I couldn’t use it. When I asked for a manager she told me since it’s not off of an item, I couldn’t use it. I know I’ve done this in the summer, but I know their policy changed recently. Should I be able to do this?

I was at Meijer today and used a $0.60/3 coupon for the boxed Green Giant vegetables that were on sale 10 for $10 and it only rang up as $0.40. I didn’t notice until I was in the car and didn’t bother to go back in for the $0.20, but I just wanted to let people know to watch carefully at Meijer to make sure you are getting the full value of your coupons!

went to two walgreens today to try the belvita breakfast biscuits and the shelfs are empty.
how many do people need, leave some for the rest of us.

I went to my Walgreens Monday morning looking for the Belvita. The manager said they didn’t have any, and there was no where on the shelf for it. I think they are very good about advertising these specials with RR but run out very early or don’t have them in the first place. Unlike CVS they do not give rain checks on RR specials.

I noticed that this product was put back into the shelf. When this was on sale few weeks back one of the managers at walgreens said that it was pulled out of tbe market or recalled. If it was recalled why do they have it on their shelf?

Did anyone try to do the Cortaid Anti-Itch Cream (.5oz.) that is on sale for $3.99, BOGOF deal? I tried to use two $3 coupons for the cream and did purchase filler items but they would not allow me to use a second $3 coupon in the deal. They adjusted the one coupon they did take down to $2.99 because that was the cost of the cream (at the McHenry Walgreens anyway!) I was purchasing. The woman who rang me up said if the cost of the cream had been $3.99 (in otherwords OVER the value of the coupon) she could have given me $3 off of the cream I was purchasing and 99-cents off of the free cream (if I was using two coupons). I know they do allow two coupons in a BOGOF scenario but she said because the coupon value($3) was more than the cost of the item she couldn’t take the second coupon. I do know that their policy is to reduce the coupon to the amount of the purchase. I didn’t really understand why she wouldn’t adjust the value of the second coupon down to $2.99 too. Anyone else (except Charlie Q) have any problems with this deal?
