“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspaper to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load Jewel Avenu ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons
SUPER BOWL PARTY DEAL: Reader Outlander spotted a great deal on Miller Lite, DiGiorno Pizzas, and Edy’s Ice Cream! Cases of Miller Lite are on sale for $12.99. Look for cases that have a peelie coupon attached to them for $5-off-2 DiGiorno pizzas.
The DiGiorno pizzas are on sale for $5 this week at Jewel. But, if you buy the beer, you get ONE DiGiorno pizza for an additional penny! There’s also a manufacturer coupon in the weekly Jewel ad for FREE Edy’s ice cream (1.5qt.) when you buy two DiGiorno pizzas.
So, let’s put it all together:
Buy one case of Miller Lite (with a $5-off-2 DiGiorno peelie on it!) for $12.99.
Buy two DiGiorno pizzas. One will cost .01 when you buy it with beer, and one will cost $5.
Buy 1 carton of Edy’s ice cream
Use coupon for FREE ice cream (now $18)
Use coupon for $5-off-2 DiGiorno (now $13)
Pay $13 for everything! (The beer alone is $12.99!)
BONUS: Look in the store for a $6 mail-in rebate for the Miller too, and you’ll drop this to $7 after rebate and a stamp!
Here’s a good deal on DiLusso deli meats and cheeses! There’s a store coupon in Jewel’s weekly ad for Buy one half-pound of DiLusso meat or cheese, get one half pound FREE. The 1/29 SS also has a $1 manufacturer coupon good for one half-pound of DiLusso.
Here’s where the deal’s going to get fun! Imagine you choose two meats or cheeses that are priced at $3.99 per half-pound. Order a half pound of each (make sure they are packaged separately, as we’ll use a coupon on EACH package.) Because Jewel’s policy allows us to use a coupon on the free item AND to stack, we’re going to do just that – use one manufacturer coupon on each package of DiLusso and use the B1G1F coupon to get the second package free.
So, you have two packages of DiLusso priced at about $3.99 each. Use the B1G1F coupon, and now you’re paying $3.99 for both packages. Now, your two manufacturer coupons come along, taking another $2 off… and now you’re at $1.99 for TWO half-pounds of deli meat or cheese – super price!
Reader Kath writes to look at the deli counter for coupons for FREE gravy when you buy DiLusso too!
Here’s a super deal on Orville Redenbacher popcorn and 2-liters of pop! The 3-packs of Orville are on sale for $3.79 (not a good price.) But, when you buy one, you’ll get a second box of Orville FREE, plus two free 2-liters of 7-Up, A&W, Canada Dry, Sun Drop, or Sunkist FREE too.
So, buy two popcorns and two 2-liters from the above selections. The 1/22 SS has a .75-off-2 coupon for the Orville. With coupon, you’ll pay $3.04 for everything. That works out to .76 per item.
OR, you can try doing the deal this way… at Jewel, the “Buy this, get this-this-and-that free” offers typically trigger on a certain price threshold being reached by purchasing the included products. In this case, the instant savings that the register takes off is $2.50. So, you can also do the deal buy buying FOUR Orville Redenbachers and no 2-liters of pop. The Orville is Buy One Get One Free.
So, the deal looks like this:
Buy 1st Orville – $3.79
Buy 2nd Orville – FREE
Buy 3rd Orville – $3.79
Buy 4th Orville – FREE
$2.50 instant savings comes off now (instead of it making the pop free, we’re not buying pop, so it takes $2.50 off the 3rd box of Orville.
Pre-coupon total: $5.08
Minus two .75-off-2 coupons: $3.58
That’s $3.58 for four boxes, or about .90 each! Understand that if you do the deal in this way, you are kind of doing it “against” the ad — but it has been tried, tested and working…
Welch’s Natural Concord Spread (27oz. jelly) is on sale for $3 for 2 when you buy two. The ad states that you MUST buy two to receive that price. The 1/22 RP has a .75 coupon for Welch’s Natural!
With one coupon, you’ll pay $2.25 for two, or about $1.13 each. With two coupons, you’ll pay $1.50 for two, or .75 each! Great price for this.
All Whites 100% egg whites (16oz. carton) are on sale for $2.50. Use the $1 coupon from January All You and pay $1.50!
Dean’s Dips (12-16oz.) are on sale for $1.50 each. Buy two and use the $1-off-2 coupon from 1/15 SS. You’ll pay $2 for two, or $1 each! (They’re a little cheaper at Meijer too as they’re PRICED at .99 before coupon…)
Dannon Activia yogurt (4ct.) is on sale for $2. Use the $1 coupon from 1/15 SS or February All You and pay $1!
Jewel has some “bonus packs” (i.e. large multipacks) of items on sale this week. The one that looks the best to me is the 3-pack of 24oz. Lysol toilet bowl cleaner. It’s on sale for $4.99, which works out to about $1.66 per bottle. Buy two and use this .50-off-2 printable (and yes, what a lame, low-value coupon!) You’ll pay $9.48 for two 3-packs. That works out to $1.58 per bottle.
A good benchmark for a “good” price for toilet bowl cleaner is $1.50 per bottle. If you need it, this isn’t terrible.
Many varieties of Kellogg’s cereals and 8ct. Pop-Tarts are on sale for $1.99 each. There are $1-off-2 Froot Loops and Frosted Flakes printables on Kellogg’s site that will net you $1.49 cereal. For a Pop-Tarts deal, load this $1-off-3 ecoupon at SavingStar, which ultimately drops these to about $1.66 per box when you buy three.
Campbell’s Chunky Soup (15.25oz. bowls or 18.6-19oz. cans) are on sale for $2.29, Buy One Get One Free. Buy four and use this $1.50-off-4 printable. You’ll pay $3.08 for four cans, or .77 each. The 1/8 SS also has a $1-off-4 coupon.
Glory Seasoned Greens (27oz. cans) are on sale for $1.59. Buy two and use the .75-off-2 coupon from November 2011 All You. You’ll pay $2.43 for two, or about $1.22 each. There’s also a .55-off-2 coupon in the February All You.
There’s a store coupon in the weekly ad that drops the price of a jumbo pack of Huggies diapers, Pull-Ups or Goodnights to $8.99. Stack this with the $2 coupon for Little Movers or Pull-Ups from the 1/15 SS and pay $6.99.
Reader Wireman1979 spotted some great deals this week. King’s Hawaiian rolls (12-count) are on sale for $1.99. Use the $1 coupon from 12/11/11 RP and pay 99 cents!
Gold Bond Body Wash is on sale for $2.99. Use the $2 coupon from the 1/1 SS and pay .99!
The Jewel-Osco “Wish Big Win Big” game is over. You have until 2/15 to redeem any coupons for prizes or products. One deal that I spotted that looked decent this week is on the Shoppers Value spice shakers. They’re on sale for $1. I have quite a few .25 coupons for these in my game tickets, and .75 isn’t terrible for spice.
“Buy 10, Save $5” instant-savings sale Buying 10 of any of the items featured in this sale will generate $5 in instant savings! Prices shown are after the buy-10 discount. You must buy 10 to receive the prices shown. Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. – Barilla pasta (12-16oz.) is .88 each. If the whole grain varieties are included, use the .55 coupon from 1/8 SS and pay .33!
– One pound bags of medium shrimp are $5.
A few weeks ago, SOME Dominick’s stores’ ads had Pom Wonderful Pomegranate Juice on sale for .99. It’s this price again in my ad for the single-serve, 8oz. bottle (check the back page with produce deals.) If it’s on sale at your store too, use the $1 coupons from 1/8 SS1 or 12/4 SS to get this FREE!
Fresh Express salads (6.4-13.8oz.) are on sale for $2.50. The February Dominick’s newsletter (look on racks at the front of the store) has a $2 Fresh Express coupon inside that will net you these for .50! Or, print the coupon online.
Reader Baileym spotted a great deal on Ocean Spray juices! 64oz. bottles of Ocean Spray are on sale for $2.50 each. When you buy two, you’ll get a FREE bottle of Ocean Spray cherry! (Signs in store are advertising this offer.)
Head over to Facebook and print a coupon for Buy One Get One Free Ocean Spray. Now, buy your three bottles. You’ll pay $2.50 for the first bottle, get the second bottle free with the Facebook coupon, and get the third bottle of cherry free with the store’s sale! That’s THREE bottles for $2.50, or .83 each! Through 2/15.
All of the Tyson cooked, frozen chicken patties, Anytizers, strips, and nuggets are on sale Buy One Get One Free. Of course, there are NO prices in the ad again. Safeway’s online delivery guide, which usually has the same prices as Dominick’s does in-store, is showing these priced at $8.79-$10.99 for a 26-32oz. bag. That works out to about $4.40-$5.50 per bag. The 1/22 SS has a $1 off AnyTizers coupon and the Jewel “Game On” coupon book has a $1 off Tyson coupon too. But remember, Dominick’s does not accept a coupon on the FREE item, so the best you’re looking at here will be $7.79 for two, or about $3.90 each.
There’s also a mail-in rebate on the AnyTizers – buy 4 and get a $10 gift card. To do this deal, buy four AnyTizers (they’re a crazy $10.99, B1G1F.) Use two $1 AnyTizers coupons. Pay $19.98 and get a $10 gift card back. That’s $9.98 for four, or about $2.50 each. Not great – and make sure you will use the gift card as it’s only for specific stores.
There’s a “Buy 2, Save $2” sale running on TGI Friday’s, Bagel Bites and Delimex Taquitos this week. Buy two packages (22.8-32oz.) and save $2. You must buy two to get the instant-savings discount.
Your best bet here are the Delimex Taquitos. The 60-count box is $7.99 after the deal. Buy two and use two $2 coupons from the 10/30/11 SS. You’ll pay $11.98 for two, or $5.99 each.
There’s also a “Kick Up The Flavor” B1G1F sale on many sauces, condiments, and Hillshire Farms bratwurst. Unfortunately, the prices are so high on these that I didn’t even bother writing them up — and again, you can’t use a coupon on the free item at Dominick’s. Moving along…
The back page of Sunday’s ad also has a “Buy 2 Big Size Products, save $3 instantly” sale on Tide, Charmin, Viva, and other products. Again, no outstanding deals to speak of here, unfortunately.
“No Coupon Needed” deals:
Farmland Bacon (16oz.) is on sale for $6.99, B1G1F – that’s about $3.50 per package.

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
The current ad is good through TUESDAY, Feb. 7th.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Did you see the nice new $5 Purina One Beyond dog food coupon in the 1/15 SS? 3.5lb. bags sell for about $6.49 at Walmart (that’s what they were priced at in my area, anyway.) Use the coupon and pay $1.49!
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

I did the spend $30 get $10 CVS cash card today. I bought 2 Cottonelle packs for $14.00 each. They are the Clean Care 20 Double roll (so like 40 single). I also got the 3 pack of Kleenex for $3. So I spent $31 b4 coupons. I used two 1.50 off printable coupons for the Cottonelle(sorry, have no idea where I got them from; someone on FB posted them), a CVS Machine coupon for $1 off the kleenex, my $5 off $30 coupon I got in an email. So, after coupons, spent #22 (used $14 in ECB so, oop was $8), and got back the $10 cash card. I think I did good for 40 double rolls (like 80 single rolls), plus the 3 packs of kleenex! :)

Saturday night went to Doms with $2 off 2 Digiorno Q and free Eddy’s Q. They would only take off one or the other, not both. They insisted.
I still don’t see how you can use more than one man Q on the same product. Did anyone else use two Qs at LITH Doms and not have a problem?

My Jewel in Arlington Heights got new registers this week. The popcorn deal did not work buying 4, not sure if the new registers have anything to do with it. Like the new look of the receipt! Like Dom it gives you the % saved which I always LOVE to look at. Last night 59% – not bad.
Outlander says
Jill, your deal for Anytizers at Dom. And Jewel are the same, because you took off the value of the Q twice on the Jewel deal. Or am I not seeing it right?
Also check your Valli produce ad for good Qs for some of the deals, like bologna at Meijer.

Just left Jewel at Randall & Algonquin & they said I can not use 2 coupons that I needed to buy 2 more Pizzas. 3 people looked at it & they all said I needed 2 more pizzas. I told them one cpn was for ice cream & other was for beer & pizza, they finally decided to let me use them once I said to take it off my order. So beware if you are going to this Jewel. The popcorn deal worked fine :)

Please help me to understand this deal. I am looking at it wrong or something. Jill states that the soup is $2.99 BOGO. We should buy 4= $2.99 x 2 = $5.98. ( I buy 2 and 2 are free).
Now minus the $1.50 off four coupo; $5.98-$1.50=$4.48… divided by the four that you bought, $4.48 divided by 4 = $1.10 each, NOT the .77 each she said. Did I figure something wrong, here? I want to be able to do this right. Thanks for all help.
Thank you Jill for all you do!

I know I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night, but is it just me or is anyone else having a hard time finding the Ortega bean coupon and the Chi Chi Salsa coupons referenced under the Meijer’s deals? I’ve looked through all of the inserts several times and finding nothing!

I found some $1.49 Hallmark cards at the Dominicks in Downers Grove/Woodridge on 63rd St. These will work with the Hallmark Card deal, so it can be a money maker if you pick 3 cards at $1.49 and get a $5 catalina.

Is there a per-transacion limit to the Orville popcorn / 7-up deal? I.E. If I wanted to buy 4 popcorns and 4 bottles of pop, would it work in one transaction? Or would I need to split it into two trannsactions?
Did anyone try this?
Karmaqueen255 says
If it is indeed limit one per transaction, all that means is you’ll only get the $2.50 credit for the 2 7-up’s. So, if you buy 4 popcorn you’ll get the credit. The popcorn is BOGO regardless, with no limit, only the credit will have a limit.

Well…today I was checking out coupons.com and, much to my delight, there is also a $10 MIR bringing the total oop to just $15!!
….now if only I can find my receipt…. :/
